I know that there are about a million negatives for the game, but what positives were there?? Looking at just the stats, the thing that stands out for my is 3rd down percentage. We were 7-15 and held them to 1-10

The positive i took away from the game is that we protected PR better,we ran the ball decent and penalties can be corrected! We just have to start immediately! The inability to get in the endzone in regulation really hurt!

PAtrick Ramsey.....looks like we have a keeper here guys

I agree Jeff... Ramsey showed poise and toughness like a veteran... not a 2nd year guy. He is playing well... running the team... and making the rest of the NFL go... "Who is Patrick Ramsey?"

The first two rounds of the 2002 draft for us look awfully good for us right now. Ramsey looks far more experienced than a quarterback who has started only 8 games. Betts looks better and better all the time. He fits this offense perfectly.

Ramsey is definitely the real deal. it was also good to see McCants step as the #3 WR. we need teams to realize we have other threats to help Coles and Gardner get free

We showed we can compete with "good teams" ( though i think the Jets and Falcons r solid)

We were a coin toss from being able to beat teams like the Giants, too. We didn't really deserve it with all the mistakes we made, but they could say the same thing.
My Posatives ..
-Number one is of course that we have seen that this team has guys and will fight. The team hasn't had that since the gibbs era. Back then, if we were in it going into halftime, our coaches adjustments and the guts of the players made it so that we knew we would win. I was proud of their fight today.
-Patrick Ramsey .. the kid is sick and I think he's only going to get better. His first true year as a starting QB and he has a 95.1 QB rating through his first three games against a couple fairly legit defenses, he's on pace for over 4,740 yards. He's even thrown two 15+ yard rushes for us in key situations.
-Champ got beat.
I know it's not a posative, but I'm glad to have it out of the way. I think Champ got a little complacent and was caught off guard and straight up torched. You could see just how frustrated he was after the play, and he takes his role very importantly and follows his stats and all that pretty closely. I think it's going to be a wake up call for him and I don't see it happening again any time soon.
-Despite being penalty ridden and making a lot of mental errors, we were still right in position to win the game. We know we have the talent .. the discipline is fixable and reflects an unfortunate side of Spurrier as a coach, but if they bear down and start playing with more discipline as the season progresses, we can win some key games.
-Our RBs played well when they had the ball. Unfortunately, because we fell behind so much so early, they didn't get to run as much as I'm sure Spurrier would've liked. Both runners averaged about 5 yards a carry .. and against a fairly solid defense. This could just be because when they got their oppurtunities the Giants main concern was defending the pass, but they had some nice runs today.

*Never die attitude.
*Ramsey taking it to the next level as a leader.
*McCants getting involved.
*Champ Bailey being shown that he has to play a hell of alot better to be considered the best.

Hey guys the most biggest positive we have is ramsey. This kid is right now is the best qb in football and is the best skins qb I have seen since rypien. Just wait till are o line starts to gel we will be on stopable. Right now we have the best offense in the nfl and we are just starting to gel. Just think If we win next week which I think we will, we will be 3-1 and atop alone in the nfc east. (giants have a bye). We are all down and it was very hard to sleep I know that but lets just think what we have PATRICK RAMSEY! David who! Harrington who! Heres the link to show we have the best OFFENSE! http://nfl.com/stats/teamsort/NFL/OFF-TOTAL/2003/regular?sort_col_1=4 GO SKINS!

My positives:
Ramsey - The kid show some great footwork yesterday and he also adjusted well in the game. I think the coaches put him at a disadvantage because they can't decide what package and play they want and he has to get everything done in 15 seconds. He make several underthrows but he is learning and learning fast.
Coles - I really didn't expect him to have a big day but he still got over 100 yards in receptions. I think the chemistry question has been answered. That one play where Ramsey had to scramble and found Coles in the middle was awesome.
Better Pass Protection - Ramsey had better pass protection yesterday and if you give him that time, he can kill teams.

I don't know how you can be so upbeat after watching 4 hours of undisciplined football, shooting ourselves in the foot everytime we made things happen. All my being right now is holding me back from verbally lashing Trotter, McCants, and Samuels. But this is a positives thread so I won't go there....

grrr... i'm having a hard time with this loss... i think because there were so many positives thrown in there with the horrid and we had the chance to win. It would have been nearly completely undeserved due to the penalties, but it would have been nice.
Big Pat... wow... he's a gamer isn't he? I think he is just getting better all the time. Even if he is having a rough game, he can get hot. Our original idea of how to win games is working, we are just killing ourselves. Our offense can generate about 20 pts a game and i think our D can normally hold a team under that. Now if we just cut the penalties that formula would really work.
McCants is stepping up.
Morton looked pretty good.
Trung and Betts looked good, they didn't get too much of a chance with this coming from behind stuff... but they looked good.
Coles is human, after showing that he can drop a ball, but he's an exceptional human at playing football.
The line did play better as did the RB's in pass protection.
John Hall is still far and away the best kicker we've had in ages. Those misses wouldn't have even been attempted with many other kickers.
If we can pull out a win next week, we'll be in pretty good shape i think.

I notice in that link that Fun'n'Gun posted that we also have the most penalties of any team in the league right now. That's got to change.

Yes a few positives.
Ramsey - folks we have our franchise QB and he will only get sharper and more crisp.
Coles: What can you say. His mere presence has transformed this offense.
McCants. Still growing and looking better.
RBs: I like the Betts/Canidate combo

What happened to Canidate in the 2nd half? They both were popping big runs why did Betts get all the calls in the 2nd half? When are they going to throw to Trung out of the backfield too? Not one pass from Ramsey to Trung this season.

I thought they tried to hit Trung out of the backfield several times yesterday. One was long wasn't it? I believe Betts was the better back to go against the Giants. Trung dances looking for a hole and each dance step allows the defense to pursue. Betts was running straight at them and hitting the hole fast.

What was up with running betts wide on that 3rd and 1? I know this is the positives thread, but i found it odd how Betts got stuffed wide on that 3rd and 1 and how Trung barely got that 3rd and short on the next drive. Even if the defense might expect trung wide and Ladell up the middle, i'd still lean towards their strengths on 3rd and short.
I think trung could really add a back breaking effect to our offense. I hope they find a way to get the ball to him in space. Ladell is getting better by the week.

But Trung gained yards as Betts did. Ahh I remember it's b/c of blocking not running. Sam Huff said 'whoever thinks Canidate can block is wrong.'

i think aside from patrick growing and improving each game, coles continuing to show that he is worth the $$, the o-line doing a much better job of protecting ramsey, and the team not giving up and coming back from 18 pts down, the most important positive (and also the most disappointing:() is that we played like s%^@ and still had a chance to win this game. which means once the redskins get their stuff together, this will be a tough team to beat.
.....it is nice to see Ram and LC leading their respective statistical categories.

borrowing from redskins.com, I think the focus of improving our pass protection during the week was met pretty well. Now, if we can go into this week with penalties the concentration, hopefully we can pull off another marked improvement..

Don't know what to make of the Pats. Ted Washington is out for sure and Patten's status is uncertain but Bellicheck always finds ways to win. His defensive scheme will be tough for Ramsey and we gotta step up the defense against them cause their D is very oportunistic and a shootout could be decided by a game breaking int or something like that.

I agree 100%. Also, I would like to add heart. Once again they were dominated early and played with a lot of heart to come back.
By the way. I know he was out of bounch, but did you guys see the AWESOME one handed catch McCants made just out of bounds late in the game. Only if he Ramsey would have threw that one a yard or two further in.
