Smoot was on the Sports Junkies show this morning and had some funny and interesting things to say:
-his game day car is his Rolls
-his daily driver is a Denali pick up (in his own words, 'I am a country boy after all')
-he lives out in Great Falls near Portis and Gilbert Arenas
-the worst month and half of his life was after the car accident a few years back when his jaw was broken and he couldn't talk or eat.
-his first meal when healed, Popeye's chicken and red beans.
-he said back in highschool he once scored a td by coming around to try and block a FG but got there fast enough to catch it mid-air and take it all the way home. He said Gregg Williams didn't believe it and made a bet with him but he was able to produce the film and won some cash.

Football stuff:
-really likes Zorn. Said he is very similar to Gibbs in his general philosophies and in how he treats people but his energy has really picked up the team.
-feels that they are more talented across the board and that despite a new coach, can make a run.
-has matched up with Malcolm Kelly a lot in pracitce and compared him to Anquan Boldin in how physical he is.
-said that Kelly is always asking him questions when he does something wrong and Smoot is giving him tips when Kelly loses technique or gives something up in his route.
-Fred Davis is a really tough matchup and a very physical guy when he gets the ball.
-think the entire passing game will be very tough for teams to stop and is real high on all of the young guys.

The interview was pretty funny and I don't know how he doesn't have his own show. He is really funny and just has so much personality. He's an easy guy to root for and I hope he has a great year.

He's a goof ball but I don't about him getting his own show. When he gets rambling, that Mississippi drawl requires subtitles. :D

Yeah, it's hard to understand him when he really gets going. :)

Thanks for the re-cap Moe. I'm glad to see that Smoot sees improvement in our passing game. I'm salivating at the thought of Fred Davis and Cooley in a 2 TE set.

By "catch it" do you mean he caught the snap before it got to the holder? That would be one of the funniest plays ever to watch...

no. the kick was in the air and instead of blocking it he caught the kick in midair and went the other way with it. i read the story somewhere a few weeks ago

I don't know why but for some reason, I love me some Fred Smoot. I just love the guy's vibe. his energy, attitude etc. he's very down to earth but still a cocky, fun-loving- isht talking guy. I don't know why but I smile whenever I see/hear him. dude cracks me up.

Yeah that's what happened. I'd love to see footage of this, hard to imagine it happening myself.

Don't know if the Panthers/Eagles game was on up in DC last night but Richard Marshall for Carolina intercepted a forward pitch (behind the LOS)on a fake FG attempt and took it about 80 yards for a td. I can't say I've seen that before either.

I can vouch for the game day Rolls that Smoot drives. He was behind us on the beltway last week on the way to the stadium. We were checking out the car and he got along side us and we saw him. We started yelling Smooooot! But he was deep into his music and singing along and never looked over.

It is white, has huge rims and sits higher in the front than the back.

Yeah I am totally looking forward to this DUO being on the field. Hopefully this will make our offense more unpredictable and explosive.........
