Anyone else on the eastern shore with comcast getting blocked out? I'm on hold right now waiting to raise hell. I can't even get the game on NFL network...ridiculous.

NFL Network was blacked out in NY also. I do however get the game on local NBC.

Im on the west coast. I was watching on nfl network. I thought the second half was going to be the Redskins broadcast? It wasent so I was stuck watching the whole game aired by the Jets. That whole game was one sided. with jets this and that. Im tired of hearing about Farve. 3 hours of that is enough. lets get some Redskins news.

I've got DirectTV and pay a little extra for the sports package so I can get CSN etc. Every time there is a Redskins show on it's blacked out. Redskins Pregame gets blacked out. John Riggins Show gets blacked out. Redskins Nation gets blacked out. Everything.

I don't get it, it's like they're trying to force me into being a damn Pats fan by blacking out all the Redskin programming that I pay extra to supposedly get. Just because i live in Maine doesn't mean I am a Neanderthal and have to like the Pats and Sox.

Yeah, I was pretty ticked with that myself. I used to like Favre but all of this attention he's been getting is making me not care as much for him. I know its not his fault, but damn...

I don't get this as well. I can understand them blacking out the games. But friggen pregame shows? Redskins Nation? Why in the hell bother paying the extra money when I'm not getting my $$$ worth?

I don't even try any longer. I was surprised they showed the post game show.

I think the rules on comcast blackout was if you had a local station broadcasting it then comcast would black out? That said this year here in Tidewater area a new station is carrying all the preseason games. They are making a big show over it too. It is nice to see. I think the last station that did the preseason games (WAVY channel 10) was run by cowgirl scum bags. One of the news guys sure is. Anyways I can see the game on both Comcast and channel 3 (CBS) here this year. I am fairly sure that was not the case in previous seasons.

I used to live in Wallops in the early 90's and remember that Salisbury only had 2 of the 3 networks? Forgot which it did not have. One way or the other if NBC carried the game you should have gotten it?

This is exactly why I dumped the Sports Pack. Everytime there was something on CSN, it was blacked out. Georgetown/Maryland games, Redskins specials etc. It's like the whole purpose of having those channels is defeated. I mean blackout rules for pre-season....really?

I have thought about dropping the sports pack as well. But ESPNU is still on the sports package and they show some Tar Heel basketball games on that channel. Some football games as well.

I believe there are blackout rules for preseason. Not necessarily set by the NFL though but maybe Cable vs network TV?

Like I said though I thought I had that figured out but this preseason the games have been on both the local channel AND CSN. I am 99% sure that was not the case before.

Well Mike last year they showed the pregame show during the regular season, maybe they are only blacking out the preseason pregame show because CSS has rights to the game?

Last night though I had a different problem, I couldn't get the game to work at all, NFL Network was all screwed up on me. It was all scrambled up and acting the way it acts when there is a thunderstorm outside. It was the only station on my satellite acting up. It was very very weird.

I'll just be glad when preseason is over so we can put an end to all this nonsense.

Next week you won't have any problems. :)

I still hate the Panthers though.

I live in Ocean City Maryland and i am having the same problem.

Direct TV and nfl network has blacked out the game, and as soon as the game is over the channel comes back.

Because i have direct tv, i only purchased basic cable (for the local news channels), and i haven't been able to find the preseason games on there, where i thought they would be shown cause those are local channels. i think channels 1-15 or something. am i missing something?

I have a question about this sports package for direct tv, if i get it, will i get all the skins games? see i get the baltimore channels, and sometimes they don't air the skins games so i have had to buy nfl ticket, which is really costly. Could i buy this sports package and get all the redskins games on csn living in ocean city?

I thought the rule on NFL network was the first half the home team broadcasts. the second half the road team broadcasts. So its not one sided the whole game. But for some reason at half time they never switched.

The games I've watched on NFL network with the exception of tonight's game, used the home team's broadcast. But I haven't watched all of them. Could be a coincidence.

the wierd thing is that because I'm in Salisbury Md, I didn't have any "local" channels broadcasting the game. All I had was MASN2 broadcasting the stinking Ravens game. WTF?!? I was pretty pissed. so for me, Comcast was blacked out along w/ NFL Network. I was so peeved that I called Comcast and asked for a credit for NFL Network since I wasn't getting the programming I paid for. Of course, they blamed it on the NFL, and didn't do squat for me. I need to get some service where I can see ALL the skins games, regardless of blackout rules.

NFL Sunday Ticket through DirectTV. You can watch any and all games every Sunday with that (excluding Preseason). Of course, if a game is being broadcast by one of your local channels the DirectTv one will be blacked out in some cases. I've watched games on DTV just to flip to a local channel and see the same game before. Overall, not a bad deal IMO.

I love being able to watch whatever game I wish instead of being stuck watching the Dolphins vs Houston or Denver Vs Buffalo or similarly lame AFC East crap.

Unfortunately it sounds like it has been determined that you live in the Ravens market area, which makes the Skins an out of market game. The only way I know of watching those is with Sunday Ticket or wait until Wednesday when some cable companies have their '5 best games' replay thingy.

When I lived in Wallops Island about 1 hour south of Salisbury from 1993 to 96 I saw all the Redskin games. I was always worried about that though and one or two games was a close call, they did not cut away from the early game. At that time Salisbury was Redskin territory not the Ravens. One problem there though at that time was there was only 2 networks not all 3 (there was fox too). Things might be different though now.

There was a cool site that had a little map of what games would show where. Anyone see that and remember what the link was? I think it was updated during the week prior to the games though.

I would not let preseason coverage get you down. It seems to me it is controlled by each team unless it is a network game.

No luck on pre-season games, though. I used to see all of the Redskins in NC, until the blasted Panthers came along...

Just to clear the air -

All Redskins shows are blacked out outside of this market due to copyright and usage laws through the NFL and NFL Films. Basically, the NFL allows for copyrighted materials, such as footage from games/practice/etc. to be show in the team's market for free. Any usage outside of that market incurs HUGE fees - WAY beyond the $5 you may pay for a sports package through your cable/satellite company. This is also why you pay A LOT of money for the Sunday Ticket.

So, even though Redskins Nation is not a highlight show, they do use game B-roll, which is a no-no outside of the DC market. And they aren't going to lessen the quality of the show by not using this footage, just so it can be shown outside of market.

Hope that clears the issue up. If you have a beef - call the NFL... not your cable/satellite company.

As a consumer, I can tell you that I don't care about any of that. I bought sattelite so I wouldn't have to be subject to these stupid rules which govern what is and isn't available to me as a Television Viewer. BTW - The SPorts Pack is $20.00 per month, so $240 per year for specific programming is nothing to just sneeze at.

I agree the beef is with the NFL, however, D-TV loses this revenue from me because of the inaccessibility of regularly scheduled programming on specific channels. For example, if I pay to have Comcast Sportsnet, then I am doing so in order to have access to all of their programming. Having shows blacked defeats the purpose of having the channel. My point is that the NFL should waive this particular fee in this instance because the landscape of television is markedly different than it was when they first created the rule.....

I used to get all of the pregame shows just as I get the post game shows. I used to be able to watch the Caps here for free on CCSN. Same with The United. Now both are blacked out. I kinda understand the Caps being blacked out due to the Hurricanes. But why Soccer when The United is the closest team around?
