I guess that sounds about right. I took a guess at who placed last and was absolutely correct, lol.

Dallass shouldn't be as high as 12 and the Ratbirds shouldn't ge as high as 17. Bandwagoners shouldn't be higher than 20, lol.

I would rank the fanbases this way:
1. Packers
2. Steelers
3. Redskins.
No way would I put the Eagles over the Skins nor would I put the Chiefs, though the sea of Red is impressive and worthy of Top 5 on that basis alone......

The iggles don't have fans. They have thugs who buy tickets.

The waiting list thing is kinda BS. Ive gotten emails offering me tickets for the last 4 years. They offer me club seats. So technically im sure the fans on there could have had seats by now if they REALLY wanted them. The only issue i have is the Eagles. other than that its right.

I would put the Steelers #1 like in the article. Having lived in Kansas City area for 7 years I would also tell you that the Chiefs fan base is just as rabid as ours. Just substitute the Raiders for the Cowboys. They call it "Raider Week." One thing that suprised me is the number of Steeler fans in K.C. They have a huge fan club there and everytime the Steelers came to town they would throw a big rally at the team's hotel. They say since a lot of the steel mills closed, Pittsburghers have relocated all over the country in search of emplyment and have taken their rooting interest with them.

I can tell you as a kansan and as someone with tons of chiefs fans for friends YES they are EXTREMELY loyal. They have had about as many letdowns as us in the recent past and have stuck by their team, I give them credit. But the bit about eagles fans hating the cowboys more? uhhhh are you freaking serious? WE HAVE THE MOST HEATED RIVALRY ARGUABLY IN ALL OF SPORTS!!!!!!!

I think these rankings were pretty much spot on. Although I don't think the Eagles should get high marks for loyalty. They are the first franchise to jump ship when the going gets tough...and sometimes that is as early as the first series of the home opener! Increase their loyatly score a bit and the Redskins should jump ahead.
Can't argue with Steelers and Packers at the top. They are pretty much interchangeable.
I once attended a Chiefs vs. Broncos game at old Mile High and they traveled VERY well. They are a vibrant bunch, although that doesn't translate well over here on the East Coast. To many of us East Coasters, KC isn't much different than St. Louis, but those in the midwest know better. ONe of these days I plan on going to a Chiefs game just for their great tailgate atmosphere.
LOL at Seattle being #20. I bet their granola, earth-loving, caffine-induced trendy fanbase thought they were destined for a top 5.
Not sure if the Saints fanbase belongs in the top 15. They have been a pretty decent fanbase since the drafting of Reggie Bush, but since then, they were pretty self-loathing. TB also has a johnny-come-lately fanbase.
One last point; isn't it amazing what a decade of crappy football will do to a fanbase like San Fran? When it comes to California fans, you need to keep them happy ALL the time, or they will quickly find a reason not to care and find something else to be their hobby.

There is a direct correlation between the weather and the fans, hence the term fair-weather fans. California and Florida always have weak fanbases, when it comes to outdoor sports. If the team sucks, they just go surfing or something, while us cold weather crazies freeze our butts off even when our team is losing.

I can't accept that the Eagles are remotely better. Their fans are about the least football savvy people in the world. They're more like heavy metal fans. They get dressed in crappy clothes, go shake their heads around and start fights and couldn't tell you the first thing about the game.

I think any fanbase that boos their #1 pick who then goes on to a franchise QB cannot possibly be in the top 20 fanbases. Also, this is the same group to invent the "Jail in the Stadium", which says a ton about their fanbase.

I believe that might be the same anywhere else. Club seats are very expensive and I bet are not filled anywhere. They also do not count in the sell out calculations if I am not mistaken.

anything thing us being number 1 is wrong. 90 thousand plus, and still a wait list. Smart fans, dedicated, travel extremely well. dominate the HOF ceremony as has never been done before (ask any sports writer). stupid rankings, we know how it goes tho, i mean they have the eagles over us!

So we are number one on consecutive sellouts and number one on waiting list, yet we are only ranked six?
Redskins should be four, and ranked ahead of the Eagles and Browns.

Franchise value should be one of the measures of Fan Ranking. After all, there is a reason some franchises are more valuable than others.

I would think it does. They are counted in as part of the 90,000+ in attendance.

Hey, hey, don't judge all metalheads as unaware, out of style, mindless pugilists, just as fans of pop and/or easy listening shouldn't be considered as soft, wine and cheese consuming, estrogenic wusses.
;)
Ranking Eagle fans that high is similar to putting possums or weasels at the top of the food chain. It makes no sense, because while they serve a purpose -- being the majority of road-kill, along with the skunk, they also take care of the above water bottom feeding, so to say. They are nasty to confront but cowards at heart and will usually hide or play dead when challenged.
Eagles fans are right there with Jets fans, who also should be ranked lower.

That was the funniest post I have read in a long time.
I think consectutive sell outs should be a huge measure of the fan base. 319..no one comes close. And we have the largest stadium. Some of the teams do not even have a consectutive sell out. They should hang their heads in shame.

I agree with the masses who say the Eagles are WAYYY to high on the list.
Just because you have a jail in your stadium doesn't make you "great" fans.
Not being a homer, but the Redskins should be #3 atleast. I'll agree with Steeler fans as being #1. Packer fans you never heard about till the past 14+ years, or when they started winning again. Lets see how they do with Rogers at the helm for the next 3 or 4 years.
Redskin faithful has seen some hard, hard times over the past 16 years. Yet, here we are still backing our team. And still selling out every home game AND have over 200,000 people waiting on season tickets.

They are not counted towards the sell outs. They changed this a few years back because teams added club levels and didn't want to have them count for the blackout rule.

For a team that pulls from a fanbase that is made up of mostly commuter fans. I find it interesting that we didn't place higher.
Also, some of the (non) fans were taken from us when Carolina came into being, as well as, the Raven Lunatics in Baltimore.
Also, the high amount of Steeler fans that live out here in Mid-Maryland is alarming.
Yet, we still manage to sell out our stadium of 90+? I think we should be higher BECAUSE we are not woven into the fabric of any one city, like Pittsburgh. It's because we do travel from far flung destinations like Frederick Maryland and Fredericksburg, VA
...oh well, I'm glad we got some respect though, I did like this line because I believe it's true, "the fan base has a remarkable amount of patience that has been passed down from generation to generation."

I head up from Virginia Beach every home game. To be fair I grew up in Arlington and stay overnight at my parents or a friends.
Something interesting down here this preseason. Channel 13 seems to have picked up Panther preseason games and team show. So both the Skins and the Panthers were on down here. I hope that does not have some meaning to it for regular season?
