Folks 17 penalties! That is a crying shame. This team is better than the Ginats, they are explosive, can play excellent football, but again, we are going to lose more games this than we will if we continue to play so undisciplined. Its pathetic. Heck, I even heard Riggo on the airwaves and he just said flat out, this team is dumb, they simply can not play smart football. Fact is, he is right. The past 7 years this team has killed itself, but never more than yesterday. Off sides, false starts, late hits, you name it, this team does it.

I am also sick of hearing apologies from offensive line, Lbs, Pulleze, it gets old.

Some of you posters here just think Arrington walks on water, and no one here loves the guy more tahn I do, but he NEEDS to be talked to. His penalties kill us as well. Bruce Smith is called at least twice a game. Samuels had yet more holdign penalties cause he was getting beat. Trotter late hit was plain stupid.

This has got to end at some point. At some point actions need to be take and i do not mean little $500 fines that mean nothing to these guys. I am talking about sitting guys down.

Again, had to rant because i really do believe, the Ginats in no way beat us yesterday. They didnt have to. We handed them the game.

After a game like that no body walks water in my book. We stink up the joint the same way every year.

Interesting you bring up the benching Mark. That was mentioned on 980AM this morning. They said take the guys out and make the stand beside the coach during the game. I don't know, benching Samuals, Jansen, Trotter, Arrington and some others could be catastophic.

Not benching them all at the same time. Like right after Trotter made the bonehead hit. Pull hsi ass for a series or two and put Mitchell in the game. Samuels continues to get blown away, and that is why he is holding. Put Dockery in the damn game. DO YOUR JOB!

ahh, gotcha. I'd be down for that.

I'd make them go to the locker room and come back in street clothes, then send them back in.

Who can you possibly single out from that mess yesterday? Half the team deserved to be taken behind the shed at one point or another. Lavar does walk on water for me because he is Mr. Redskin. Yeah, he makes mistakes. Every player on this team does and most of them make more than Lavar.

Frustrating loss. But during the week is when the problems have to be fixed. I think benching Trotter after that play would unfairly put the blame squarely on his shoulders. I'm not into the public embarrasment/pointing fingers way of motivating. They have to just play smarter.

I hope the team can rebound from this tough loss and focus on what they have to do next week against NE. I'm not calling it a must win, but it's pretty big considering what kind of schedule we have lined up.

After imploding like that, I hope SS can show that his 5 mill a year is for more than an offense system. He needs to grab this team by the reins.

PENNSKINSFAN, I think you are right and we should have won the game. the game last week we were lucky to win. luck ran out yesterday. still think we will win more than we lose.

Hmmm...17 penalties for 142 yards with the Giants a close second with 15 and 124 This was probably the most penalized game I've ever seen.

On another note: Spurrier said in his postgame int. that he used to penalize the team $10 bucks in pre-season but stopped it. Now he said the fines are coming back and their gonna be hefty. This worked for Gibbs, maybe it'll work for SS.

Here's a good article:

Problem here is the veterans are the ones doing, and they shoudl no better. Arrington gets us two damn penalties a game. Bruce Smith gets us two a ganme. Chris Samuels seems to be jumping and hiolding often. These gusy are leaders, they guys have to make better decisions. Period! There is no excusess. penalties here and there are acceptable every team does, but man, this team is plagued.

Jets Game: 6 penalties 55 Yards

Falcons 12 penalties 79 Yards

Giants 17 penalties 142 yards

As you cans ee, we are getting progressively worse. That is a total of 35 friggin penalties in three games that cost us 276 yards!

Want to stop penalities - Player Fines and not little ones, more like:

5 yards = 5% of the game day salary
10 yards = 10 % of the game day salary
15 and so on.

Your penalities WOULD STOP real quick.

Penalty amounts are a max of $500 from what i understand by collective bargaining.

At this point they need to fine the max allowed by the collective bargaining agreement. If they don't do that, make them keep their gear on and have a full practice after a game like yesterday.

F**k the CBA, yes i'm angry cos of the penalties. We should have won this game!

I also think benching some "stars" would slap some people into reality. Trotter has really done nothing to impress me.:twak:

i bet you'll see some differences this weekend...the Skins were not in this game whatsoever. The Giants and Skins have very similar teams...the Giants problems is they cannot put a team away.

Over the last 5 years, it breaks down like this:

1998 - split, L at Giants 31-24, W at home 21-14
1999 - Skins sweep, 50-21 at Giants, 23-13 at home
2000 - split, W at Giants 16-6, L at home 9-7
2001 - split, L at Giants 23-9, W at home 35-21
2002 - Giants sweep, 19-17 at Giants, 27-21 at home
2003 - L at home 24-21 OT

heated rivalry, they've won the last 3 games by 11 points. to say we're better than they are is really mediocre. talent on the field doesn't matter...it's the W or L at the end of the day.

Problem with that is too many players are playing for the love of money. Sitting them just gives them a chance to rest. If they are really playing to try to win they would discipline themselves and wouldn't be take the lazy way our and holding or letting their tempers get the best of their judgement. Maybe we need a motivational speaker to light a spark under their ass as far as wanting to improve to play as a team, and more importantly TO START WINNING games they should be winning.

Agreed, one thought though....players like glory and hate to be singled out for bonehead plays like taunting and just plane playing like you don't care.

Here's a tought.... have a huge poster that hang at the practice field and locker room etc for "Jacka$$ of the Week" with huge picture that include what it cost the team. This would make all the headlines and news coverage. Players already make the $$ and many could care less if you give them some rest on the bench, but in this "it's all about me" world they hate to be given "GOAT" status in any big way.

Just look at the Bud commersial that playing now about a player who's sucking real bad but blamming everyone else (classic)

I hear that Gibbs gives motivational speeches as a side job. He even has a facility for it.

THAT WOULD BE AWESOME!!! BUT, isn't he a minority owner of the Falcons? He probably wouldn't do it. He would be great for the "game plan consultant" i mentioned in another post as well.

It would be best if it were Spurrier's idea.

Spurriers ego would never allow that to happen.
