I apologize for creating a thread just for advice, but I would like some from the experienced FFers out there and maybe some other people would like some advice too.

I had my draft last night (was up until almost 3am) and am pretty happy with the players I got. I wanted some more skins guys but one of my friends was picking them up 2-3 spots before me all the time. You will be happy to know i avoided all division rivals like the plague though.

Anyway, are there any tips you could provide me in deciding who to start/bench each week?

Are there websites that break down individual matchups to determine if i should, for example, go with my backup TE one week because he's playing against a team with horrible linebackers?

Could you guys look at my projected starters/bench and suggest possible changes?

QB: Carson Palmer (Cin)
RB: Clinton Portis (Was)
RB: Larry Johnson (KC)
RB/WR: Fred Taylor (Jac)
WR: Larry Fitzgerald (AR)
WR: Jerrico Cotchery (NYJ) - I know this is a stretch, but he had a decent year last year and he will have Favre throwing to him this year
TE: Dallas Clark (Ind)
D/ST: Chargers
K: Suisham (Was)

Bench:
QB: Aaron Rogers (GB)
RB: Kenny Watson (Cin)
RB: Ladell Betts (Was)
WR: Anthony Gonzalez (Ind)
WR: Bryant Johnson (SF)
TE: Jeremy Shockey (NO) - I felt guilty, but he's not a Giant anymore and I'm hoping to trade him for Cooley.

Thanks in advance for your help!

Why wouldnt you just put this in the Advice thread?

Edit: Looks pretty solid. I would keep Shockey though. As much as i like Cooley i think Shockey is going to put up monster numbers in N.O. Also when playing Fantasy football you use your head not your heart. So picking division rivals isnt a bad thing to do. Frankly i took more Eagles and Cowboys than Redskins on all my Fantasy teams. I honestly dont think i have any Redskins on any of my teams.

If you want to be successful in FF, you have to take off the BNG glasses and take the best players available at the time of your picks.

This took me a year two to learn. But you'll have better teams.

So you would start a team's #3 WR over the guy who is likely to be the #1 guy in the first half of the season?

I think you should keep Cotchery in as Starter.

I would love to have Dustin in some of my leagues......

This is good natured, but here are some of the players he drafted in the keeper leagues(football and baseball) lol:

Dana Stubblefield
Brenson Buckner
Darren Woodson
Aeneas Williams
Arch Deluxe
Rich Hill
Curt Schilling
Pedro
Kelvim Escobar

I told him he should sacrifice a goat or something because his teams are cursed.

Gonzalez might as well be a #2 with harrison still gimpy and in the INDY offense the #3 WR is basically a starter

Thanks for the tips everyone. I didnt look closely enough to see the advice thread (Its only at the top of the page, come on, mods - who looks there, really? j/k), so sorry for not putting this there. I do appreciate everyone being so helpful. With Favre adjusting to the offense in NYJ, i think it was good advice to start Gonzalez instead... atleast at first. If the Jets get off to a good start, i will reconsider. Plus, teams are going to be double-teaming harrison so that will probably open things up for Gonzalez some.

As far as Rudi Johnson vs. Fred Taylor, i suppose its a toss up as they are both #2 guys like Betts. One of my friends needs a TE and i've got two good ones, so i may Trade Clark or Shockey+Johnson for their TE and a better RB.

Favre/Cotchery has looked good together in the preseason games I've watched so far.

Only in basketball, you're not as better as I am over you in baseball(and football this year).

I think our baseball and basketball wash each other out...football is the tie breaker and I have been marginally better then you....you can turn it around this year....but I doubt it

You beat me in one basketball league, I'll have beaten you in 3 consecutive years in baseball. Not washed out. Football's always been relatively close.

Behold! The heavy price of jealousy!(yes, I'm going to try and work that into as many fantasy sports posts this year).
