Right. His job is to complete his route. Period. You only break back after completing the route if the QB is buying time. They teach that to HS Wideouts.
Complete your job and trust your teammate will complete his.

I hope his calm at the press conference spreads into hR.
He was very frank and honest. He explained his thinking about the last couple drives and what he thought in terms of a timing perspective. I thought his reasoning was reasonable but also think he realized he made a mistake.
Said there were a lot of opportunities we left on the table. Lots of guys open we missed. Talked about how JC is locking on receivers and not doing what they practiced but also made comparisons to hasselback and how he struggled for so long in this offense.
Valid point about Thomas being involved. Everyone here is freaking out about how our 2 rookie WRs are busts, but when considering that they were out of shape and both got significant injuries during, I am pretty happy that Thomas caught a pass in the first game even though he didn't make a great play. Realize, he only caught 2 passes in all of pre-season. I hope to see more catches next week by him and hopefully some by davis. Zorn indicated that he hoped Kelly would be involved this coming week.
I can't believe Khary Campbell got hurt during the coin toss. I still believe snyder needs to sacrifice live animals to get rid of this curse.
One interesting thing is he thought heyer did well. Didn't think that first sack was his fault. Said heyer did get some help blocking. He seemed to struggle at times to me, but never more than the oline as a whole. I also saw that JC seemed to hold the ball for a while on that sack and actually scrambled towards the sack not away from it. What did you guys think about heyer's play overall?
Jason Taylor came out injury free.
When going over the injuries he said Moore is still nursing his hamstring. He wasn't active in the game or asked about specifically so i thought the fact that he mentioned him was pretty odd, made me think that he has an active role planned for him.
Said springs will be fine, couldn't put weight on his leg after being kicked in practice.

That is probably the single best thing ever said on HR. People forget how elementary the mistakes are. Is it correctable? Sure, but no coach is going to have success until their is accountability for not executing the fundamentals. If I were coach, Moss would be running laps until I was satisfied that he was ready to listen to coaching. NO EXCUSES!!!

when they showed that replay you could see moss slow. he didn't really stop, he slowed .
It was a double move, and he got Ross on the fake and had 2-3 yards on him after the break and it was widening, he looked back and slowed, ross caught up and kept running cause he looked back and saw the ball was thrown. moss actually caught up to him to stop the pick.
As that was happening, JC was pressured from the outside and had to step up in the pocket, which he did perfectly. he felt the pressure and moved, but moss thought he was getting hit and slowed.
my thoughts, are moss shouldn't have slowen until the whistle is blown. he shouldn't of dropped that pass at the end of the game, that was pretty much the dager. i put this loss on him. JC didn't play well by any stretch but played ok. Oline was average. Run game was average, but need some plays passing to open it up. D held them to 16 what more do you want. Moss's long ball could have helped with the score obviously, but with confidence and huge momentum. instead, he doesn't, then comes up with a drop late.
ridiculous, we need a number 1.

I suggest making Randel El the #1 guy and having Thomas as the #2.

How in the hell does someone get hurt during the COIN TOSS? :doh:Seems strange, but it is not the first time this has happened. In fact, one of the best Redskins players of all time, HOFer Turk Edwards CAREER ended the exact same way. Never played another game.

this is not the first similar offense for moss. in that sense i believe Akh is totally correct-- this team will be far better once either thomas or kelly steps up to be #1 receiver.. moss is not dependable over the course of a game, much less over the course of a season

ARE cant escape jams or get first downs consistently.. he is always running routes that leave him 2 yards short of a first down

I accept what Zorn says he and JC were bad in week 1 but I'm gonna ride with Zorn a while longer. There's a transition for everyone in this I expect to see more fire in game 2.

hes a slot reciever imo and i think thats what zorn wants i think he expects to line him up in the slot and use kelly, thomas on the outside whenever the rooks are good to go. i hope kelly and thomas can both play vs new orleans because they should be able to gain lots of confidence vs the NO secondary. there best corner is probably rookie tracy porter

actually mike mckenzie-- but he is coming off an acl repair, like rogers is..
between aaron glenn, jason david and jason craft there is a lot of burnt toast smell lingering on all of them.. but they have a game this weekend to get things sorted out first

I'm sure this isn't the last time Zorn will the hard way. Hopefully he can learn and adapt to head coaching in the NFL. The way Snyder is, he won't give a lifetime to Zorn to right the ship. I think it will be 2 years at the most. If Cowher wants to caoch next year Snyder might go for the big splash that he is known for if Zorn doesn't have a good year. God I hope not though. I have hope for Zorn. I think he will get it done eventually with or without JC at the helm. Just my opinion though.

I don't know if that holds water? We all knew the chance for our team to struggle was real. Almost a totally new coaching staff. Lets give it a little time. I for one want to see Campbell in an offense for more than a year.
We may have to trade Moss. I think he is ready to go and his trade value is going down (last 2 games). I'm still wondering about the lost ball in the lights in Seattle-how/why did he drift so far into the middle of the field and now he slow, as he thought Campbell would be sacked. Hey Moss-play ball, run your route, do your job and be in the space/place the QB believes you should be in.

No way that will happen this season. Don't know what we have in the rookies yet as well. Another Wr will have to be had by way of free agency or trade next offseason. Anything is possible with this team.

I agree, but I bet the thought is out there...after one of the new receivers steps up-lookout. I say the drafting of Thomas and Kelly is a notice to Moss and ARE step up or we will put you out. I like ARE, but like Moss they are small, I don't think we can be effective with 2 smalls. I thought we had a nice group of WR in camp this year, why trade for another. Give us help at line or a draft pick. We were too deep a WR in camp this year, would you agree?

McMullen should be back this week. I think he he got caught in a weird salary cap rule. If he were signed before week 1 his whole year was guaranteed. If he is signed after week 1 he isnt guaranteed. So i expect to see him back this week.

If that were to happen Kelly and Thomas would have to knock the socks off of people this season before the trade deadline in week 6. Thats why i don't think you will see it this season. The timing is not just there and Moss has been the best WR on the team for the last 3 years. I said WR not Te so Cooley isn't included. Its not good though when possibly your best weapon on the team beside Clinton gets only 1 catch for 7 yards.

we need a serious number 1. unfortunatly it aint going to happen this year. The only way we trade Santana is if someone else makes a major impact, and that doesn't look to happen. If we see progress from Thomas and kelly, especially Thomas, then we might not get a new number 1 next year, as thomas will step into that role. That is ideal, a draft pick panning out for us.
Then you might see santana traded for a number 2 reciever out there. i don't know who, but not a very big name like boldin, or wayne or anybody. but a number 2 who is solid. we may have to throw in a draft pick as well (knowing vinny it would be something just to high).
I think thats what we can look for in the future and this year. the WR finish's this season as is. In the offseason we trade santana or ARE maybe both for a number 2 reciever. thomas steps into number 1, and kelly becomes 2 or 3. thats it. i hope it works that way.

New HC, new system, I doubt Moss goes anywhere this season. No way they're going to rely on the 1 and 2 wr position with rookies. I do agree with others that have said ARE should take the #1 spot though. It'll be heaven if he can go back to the slot. Hell, I'd even be happy to see what Moss could do in the slot.

you will see a number of veterans signed after week one for precisely the reason you provided.
we could see mcmullen or someone else... or maybe not if kelly is ready to play.
at least mcmullen knows the offense, so he would be the one to give the fastest results...

In the press conference on Friday, Zorn pointed to one of the reporters and said "Hey, nice jersey" and had a chuckle about it which threw him off his train of thought.
Anyone know what that was about? Was it an old Jim Zorn jersey?
Listening to the presser, you have to think the press LOVES Zorn.
He is up front, and like a teacher, he explains a lot of things.
Maybe even too much. I hope he does not give up enough to make it easy for the opposition to profile him.
