i have a question did he sleep with campbell's g/f because he was WIDE open at the end of the first half for an EASY td on a fly route(cooley 28 yd reception) and campbell didnt even look at him and was open other times.anyone else see this that was at the game?

didnt see it.. but it happens all the time.. wideouts run free and the qb makes a snap decision to go elsewhere...

WOW! good question.....i think it has more to do with JC having any trust with thomas. we saw a throw to kelly early on, but thomas missed a ball threw his hands in the third qtr.
all in all....the WRs have to prove in before we air it out.....

QB's miss open recievers all the time, but thats ok if they hit another reciever in the hands. Usually happens every play, you have multpile options, it just depends on who your looking at and if you can hit them on the break.
Also, i think Cooley on a seem route probably hand campbells first attention, and when that came open, he didn't look anywhere else. i can't blame him, thomas had a shoe string takcle last game that cost us a 1st down and touchdown, and on a jump ball it went right threw his hands.

I think as the season goes the guys start getting more involved in practice and JC develops a comfort level the 2 rooks are gonna figure it out and have a real impact on games.
I thought in the red Zone today we could have used Thomas or Kelly on a fade. But we'll figure it out.

Have you seen JC's woman - bad to the bone. If he did, I understand why he didn't hit him.

Well, at least he threw to Kelly early on. It's a bit encouraging to see these guys get in the game somehow, even if it's a single catch or even ST's. I'm guessing next week we'll see more of Kelly and DT.

There was one throw to Devin that he should have caught. Campbell gives sort of a pump left and then turns right and fire it. It does through Devin's hands even thought it was slightly high. He needs to bring that down.

If other teams play the Skins WR the way the Saints did then Thomas and Kelly will have plenty of opportunities to make big plays. I watched Thomas closely yesterday and the Saints played him man up with no help over the top on almost every play he was split wide. Saints were 8 in the box for the majority of the game and the cover S usually rolled to Santana's side.

thomas dropped one ball he should have caught. it was a little high, but it went right threw his hands
Kelly got more looks i think because campbell worked out with him prior to the draft, and wanted him. or at least that was reported.
JLC's blog says that zorn mentioned Thomas runs good deep routes, but is still trying to refine his short-intermediate routes. also said he was open deep a few times.
I am so happy to here this. Thomas can get open deep, essential for this offense since Tana is really our only threat there and he has some problems (tho a great game!). nice to hear, i think they are coming around. I enjoy seeing them out there in 4 wr sets, and sometimes it was kelly and thomas out there by them selves and it wasn't always a run.
Zorn definitely giving them a shot.

greatest 2 you are correct!!! Yeah, in response to a question, Zorn said that Thomas was able to get open DEEP several times. I am sure that will come up in game planning for next week. And, Zorn said Thomas had problems running disciplined short routes and that the staff and team needs to help him learn.
I did not hear much about Kelly, whom I still have I hopes for. I also missed Thomas being open a couple of times because I was so concentrating on the offensive line play and looking for clues as to how to JC is progressing in quickly analyzing the defense and then releasing the ball to the intended receiver.

I don't want to get too into this thread. But I want to read this thread. I'm not going to poo-poo the guy when he posts 300+ and makes "the play" that gives him the 4th quarter come back. It's just not right. However, at the end of the season when evaluating his body of work for the year it's important to account for the innocuous oversights that you can't always remember or see on DVR. He left, at bare minimum, 14 first quarter points on the field. It's really hard to remember those when he NAILS that play to Moss for the deep TD and the win. Did the poop happen if you can't remember?

That was more GW to be fair b/c Gibbs never really had rookies on offense. He had Campbell (understandable to bench a QB) and Cooley (who played out of the shoot and gradually earned playing time). But that said, I agree with the conventional wisdom of bringing rookies along slowly.

Since Zorn has said the DT is running good deep routes, then i say let him loose. Worse case is he takes 1 maybe 2 guys with him, leaving the rest of the field open for moss/are/cooley. If he is good at something, let him do it. Best case is he will be open for a long gain/td. GO SKINS !!!!!

Cutter, I would have never mentioned it that didnt appear to be your primary agenda. If it wasnt so common for you to bash Campbell every chance you get it would look like any other post. But since the majority of your post seems to be geared to proving to everyone that Campbell is the worst QB to every toss laced pigskin it tends to stand out more.
The one thing that I find funny about it is that you deny bashing him and then bash him again. Either way I cannot wait to see DT and Campbell build chemistry together if at all possible. He should be running free all day if defenses key in on Cooley and Moss.

Campbell is making almost 4 mil a year.

Agreed. The only exception where I allow ketchup to share the space of eggs is in a Tom Dooley sammich, which happens to be the best sammich there is. Let me know if anyone wants to know how to make one.

That's the problem, this thread is all about some whining that on the play that Campbell threw to Cooley for a first down, Thomas was open for a TD.
Stupid whining, when the play was a success and we don't know the design, the objective and because of the simple fact that the play was a success.
Did we lose the game? No, so either somebody had Thomas in their fantasy league or somebody doesn't like Campbell and will use any instance to criticize him.

Thomas does run nice routes, should get some serious time on the field tomorrow...and perhaps his first NFL TD;)
And while Campbell's field vision needs to continue to improve, he played a heck of a game last week...need some more of that this week, because that is how a blah-blah QB starts becoming a stud QB: consistent/consecutive high-performance games. The two-steps-forward-two-steps-back stuff is what the JP Losman's/Matt Leinart's/Brodie Croyle's/Tavaris Jackson's etc. are all about...c'mon JC, keep it rollin'!

I don't mean to derail this thread by talking about Devin Thomas, but I feel bad for him. Got a bad rap today for his penalties (that I don't think were warranted) and then made it up for it w/ his first career touchdown and it gets called back over a silly mistake.

After winning the game, we can all laugh about his performance today (two iffy PI calls at best and taking away his first TD on a stupid play). He was out there a lot, maybe more than Thrash. Hopefully that was because of his performance in practice, not due to Thrash's health.

Hopefully we can see him start to run routes that aren't fly routes or curls. I really don't know why he doesn't know the plays as well as he should. What was he doing during TC while he was hurt? It looked like Campbell's first incompletion was Thomas' fault.

Agreed. Devin is making great progress each game, and should hopefully only get better. Yeah the pushoffs hurt, but I think he'll learn how to get away with them like every other great receiver in the league (moss, to). Dallas will be a challenge though, and we'll definitely need him to step up, cause you know the Pukes are going to score.

He is SLOWLY showing some signs. I did not like his hotdogging in the endzone considering all the other problems he has caused (not coming to camp in shape, thus lending to the injuries, having troubles apparently learning the plays and shorter route running). Sorry, I just do not think hot dogging after your first touch down (because of blown defense) is good. But, that is just me.

All I did was watch this kid while he was in. You miss some of the game but get a good idea for how the one guy is playing. I picked a good one too as he played a ton. I saw him open at least 2 times for TD's and he didn't see the ball. I think it was 3. He blocks well. He didn't slow down as the game progessed. I really like this kid. Good things will happen if JC starts to look at this kid more.
That call reversing his TD was garbage. Heyer hit the guy in the front of his pads before the whistle. Dude shouldn't have been sleeping.
