Was any one else as impressed with this unit today as I was? We held the point of attack at the line of scrimmage, holding them to just over 50 rushing yards on the day.

While there was a lot of points on the board, 2 were results of special teams blunders.

I felt like the D line looked very good today. They had 2 sacks, but also got in Brees face and had, from my count, 3 or 4 swatted balls. Two of the swats became Horton INT's. I was also impressed with our corners ability keep with the receivers all day. I didn't see Smoot and rogers as uch on the screen today, unlike last week where they had 12 tackles between the two of them. Its a good thing if you don't hear from your corners in my opinion.

I just had a good feeling about them today...I guess it was confidence? When was the last time we had 3 turnovers in a game?

The one play with Meachems touchdown showed a coverage breach, and the flats ere open for too many running back dumps..I still liked how they performed today.

What does everybody else think?

they played well. i was at the game, at from i could see, and others can correct me if im wrong, but the sacks were coverage sacks. nowhere for brees to go. Corners played well, but they weren't going up against elite talent unlike next week.

I was happily surprised with the run defense. i thought we would get run on, Saints oline is pretty good. But they put DEmetric Evans in more and more on early downs, taking out taylor and sometimes carter, and that worked really well. he was everywhere, even when not making the tackle you would see his number 92 flash and take blockers out of the way or cause the running back to make a move early.

All in all i think it was a complete D effort. THe corners held there people, the safeties kept it infront of them (landry's play was amazing. that ball was perfect thrown in stride and landry, at the time it was thrown was 5-10 yards away from the receiver and made an amazing play. reminds me of sean against green bay last year. insane sideline to sideline safety.), and the Dline stuffed the run, and got adequate pressure.

the only thing in my opinion they need to work on, is the blitz. it didn't get home that much, and left us exposed. other then that it was a great effort.

The D definitely stepped it up today. they were aggressive, caused T/O's, got sacks, etc. Basically everything we've asked of them. Like you said, Special Teams and Durant Brooks tried everything they could to give the game away but the D held when it needed to.

the most impressive thing i thought was the way they shut down the run.. Bush had about 25 yards rushing, and there were always lots of players around him

they didnt get enough pressure on brees and they were too far off the receivers

but shockey was also a non factor.. when you take the 2 biggest threats out of the offensive playbook, that is doing your job.. add in 3 turnovers and that is a full day's work

Yeah they played well and I'm thinking Blades in for Washington played into it as well as Horton pressing the run as well.

I think the fact that the saints were throwing short alot limited our pass rush chances some.

Blache admitted after the game the Meachum td was his fault he called the wrong coverage.

Our blitzes were off though, we blitzed from the edges with corners and safeties and just not getting there.

we gotta reorganize how we blitz.

Griff was getting good push up the middle though he was giviing great effort all game long.
