View Full Version : Rock stands on star after win.

According to JLC and ESPN news, Rock went to the dallas star at midfield after the win and stood there.

there is some discussion whether he just looked up, or taunted or why he did it.

any reactions to this?

i know i am kinda of upset. i know rock is emotional and it was a huge win, but i don't like showing disrespect, even if the other team/person does it to you. there is no need for it. (that personal foul on Dockett in the Cards game is different cause he is sticking up for his running back, showing chemistry and caring. thats a TEAM)

am i the only one who was kinda upset to read this?

I read somewhere that Rock was just looking up through the roof, taking in the moment. I didn't see it, but it didn't sound like Rock was disrespecting the star.

And if he was, good for him. Redskins should disrespect Cowboys. Dallass has been doing it to us since Harvey Martin.

Rock's reaction back was that the Redskins are allowed to celebrate WHERE ever they want to.... to me, it sounds like Tank getting upset over nothing. Seriously, if this was a real issue, how come we're not hearing from any other Dallas players other than Tank? I figured if Rock was really disrespecting the Cowgirls, they would have tried to start a fight.... or at least said something about it in post game interviews.

I don't know if he did it on purpose or not but I'm not bothered either way. The irony of Tank Johnson telling someone else how to act with class and respect is absolutely hilarious though.

The Cowboys gave up the right to be "offended" by anyone standing on the star the day they signed TO.

He's probably just taking in the moment of winning there. How long has it been since we've done that? Isn't that possibly the last win we'll ever have at that stadium? Soak that shiz in my friend. It's not like you went out and danced on the star like a member of their team did before he was signed there...

I read where Rock addressed this. I can't remember where but he said he was just taking in the moment looking at the sky and Tank came over and say Hey, don't disrepect the star. I think people are making more out of this than it is.

EDIT: It was the Matt Mosely Blog and as I figured, nothing at all that should be addressed.

Personally, I think the whole team should have done a coordinated dance number (JT could choreograph) on top of the star. This is Dallas, people. No Redskin owes them the slightest ounce of respect or anything else other than pure loathing.

YES. Who cares?!?!?! The only thing wrong about TO disrespecting the Star years ago was that he wasn't wearing a Redskins Uniform while doing it.

Eff Dallas. They deserve no respect, and if he wasn't disrespectin' and simply taking in the moment, I will be disappointed.

Agreed. Non-issue from a class player.

Tank is a joke and shouldn't be taken seriously.... Whatever they need to get up for the next game.

you guys remember when cooley scored 3 td's in the first half against dallas. it was during the 05 playoff run.

Anyway, at the stadium they started playing "mamma's don't let you sons grow up to be cowboys" as the seconds ticked away at the end of the game. Rumor has it that joe gibbs got them to stop playing it literally 20 seconds after it started.( it did stop, very abruptly, but gibbs never said anything about it and no one said anything about it )

i understand we hate them and i understand they deserve no respect, but you don't lower yourself to the pigs level, otherwise you are just as bad as the pig.

they throw a funeral wreath into our locker room back in the day, and yea thats complete disrespect and no discussion as to what it was. thats horrible and the team, players and coaches included are nothing more then low lives. but in my humble opinion, you don't become low to fight them (because then you are just like em).

anyway, back to rock. i don't know what to believe. i know rock is emotional and he says he was just taking it in, but he is volatile as well. just bursting with emotion. so i wouldn't be surprised if he was overcome with emotions and did it, but since i don't know i will give him the benefit of the doubt.

and the fact they said don't disrespect the star is funny. you know, the whole TO thing

imo, you are way off here.

Gibbs was far too conservative in many ways for my taste and if the rumor above is true then he really screwed up an awesome moment.

There is no classiness concerns or respect issues when it comes to this. This is Redskins/Cowboys man. Nobody is bringing anyone's mother into it, we're talking about possibly standing on the star for the last game we'll ever play at that craphole

i thinking of this outside Rocks innocent act.

lets say, for arguments purpose, tana does the TO at the end of the game.

i would be against simply because i view the cowboys as arrogant without basis, bandwagon, drug users with no class, kick you when you down team/organization/fan base.

the thing i love the skins about is the team doesn't really brag, unless there is something to brag about. they don't say "nobody runs on the dallas cowboys" - Coach Wade Phillips. then get run on for 121 by cp, and 150 i think total. The organization doesn't really bring in horrible guys like pacman who got a man paralyzed, tank johnson owning his own gun store, and TO calling his quarterbacks gay. The skins have pride, they wouldn't sign someone like TO to begin with, and especially if they disgraced the team not once but twice. The fans are around win or lose, and are passionate. no further proof then this great MB. the recent FO does lack a little class in the way it handles some things, but i don't think we are a classless team or organization. see danny lending his airplane to everybody, and the sean situation, etc.

i think not doing that makes us better then them.

(that doesn't mean you can't mess with them. like when we told danny white we running over you, and they did it. 9 straight times. i don't call that bragging cause they backed it up.)

I don't have a problem if the Redskins play "Mamas, Don't Let You Babies Grow Up To Be Cowboys" at FedEx. That's not tacky, that's rivalry. I see nothing wrong with rubbing their noses in it.

That said, I don't think anyone should do a TO on the star ever again. Because it "disrespects" the star? No, because it's unoriginal anymore. TO did that and, for better or worse, that's his thing. To do it again would be merely reviving a stale act and paying homage to TO while doing it which, to me, is a double dose of ghey.

Personally I think Tank should be more focused, and upset, about more important things. If you don't want them standing on our star, and celebrating (or not celebrating, whatever the case is here), Tank then maybe you, and your defensive brothers, could do your jobs and, you know, not let them run all over you and score 26 points.

Blame yourselves and get mad at yourselves but don't cry about what he did when you pretty much gave him the right to do it by letting them dog you all day.

on this note, anybody else think Miles austin is a idiot for celebrating after that last TD. doesn't he know:
A. we practically gave it to him to make sure the clock got under 2 min.
B. he is a onside kick away from losing this game
C. his team is down with slim chance of a comeback with less then 2 min. (kinda like B)

like i said, i thought miles austin was stupid, but i was to busy nervous about the onside kick to really think of anything else.

I actually don't mind that celebration (though I mind the TD), because in the context of it all.. that was a crucial TD they needed to have a chance and he got it. They were just a few finger slips from recovering and possibly winning the game (Folk has crazy range). Honestly, while we controlled the game, it really shouldn't have been so close.

Great win, against a tough team, but I can't wait till we finally blow someone out.

Rock knew that he was doing...remember he was around when we took alot of those losses in the past. he knew he wll never see that star again in that stadium.....Good for him.

I bet when they open the new stadium they will try to schedule someone like the browns or cinci....knowing we messed up the Ring of Honor game W Santana catching the two TD's and this one knowing it was the last rivalry game in that stadium. As long as Rock wasn't taunting a Dallas player, i have no problem with it. The game was over and he wanted to celebrate. Just standing there and looking up at the sky after the game does not constitute disrespect. There aren't any pictures of it so it doesnt seem like Rock was trying to do something for the camera or anything arsehole-ish. He was doing it for himself and the accomplishment of going into Texas Stadium for the last time and winning a game we werent "supposed" to win. As far as i'm concerned, he was just savoring a moment that will never come again. Good for Rock.

Seems like that was indeed the case. He's been a Redskin for a long time. He's been in some battles down there. He's run back KO's for TD's there. Even though it's the enemy's home turf, there are alot of memories there. I would do the same.

This did happen and Gibbs did tell them to cut it off. I personally saw him giving them the cut it signal from the sideline. Also, he was questioned about it after the game and said that is not our style. There is an NFL rule that teams shouldn't do anything to belittle the opponent. Trust me, Kenny and myself know this very well.

Hey not everyone is as good as Joe Jackson Gibbs
I respect Coach Gibbs -- it's great that he's classy enough to do that -- but I was one of those people chanting. I don't give a damn, and I doubt most Skins fans do. It adds to the fun of sports.
