not to worrired about griff, cause even if he misses, i don't think we lose to much with Golston taking over and monty coming in.
Kelly's knee, boy i think zorn and the FO need to start thinking about IR this kid. let him get his knee right, or he will just do more damage. Also, what good is he if he plays every 1 or 2 games out of 4?
then again, you IR, and he still be a rookie next year with no experience.
that knee sweeling means a underlying problem and they need to get it right. we need him for the long term, not short term.

Reminds me of Michael Barrow's knees. Every week he was supposed to come back and every week he'd be out. Of course Michael Barrow was 100 years old when he came here, so at least he had an excuse. Kelly's first year and he has the knees of a 100 year old linebacker. Not good.

not if we keep pushing him. it will be chronic and always nagging. just give him time off, let him get it straight, and make sure its right. and when your sure its right, give it another month or 2 and then go full speed.

Perhaps not, if they inactivate him through the bye week. That time could allow him to do two critical things he's been struggling mightily with: HEALING and LEARNING. A good amount of time to get better in the body AND the brain...I still have high hopes for Kelly, but it's time to sit him down till after the bye IMO. Maybe give Davis some more reps in his place...sure he's not as fast, but he's a big presence and didn't he win some award as the best TE in the nation last year or something with over 1000 yds receiving perhaps unless i'm mistaken somehow (but i don't think so) should try to get him on the field two TE sets with the Cooleymonster would be nasty...

The Kelly thing isn't shocking. I was a big fan of Kelly and wanted him for Dallas until right before the draft when reports about him having really bad knees came out. This isn't something really new for him it's just something he's just tried to hide or something, at least from the reports that were linked on the Cowboys board I go to during the couple of weeks leading up to the draft.
Apparently, from what I understand, that is one of the main reasons he fell into the second round was because teams were scared away by his knee issues.

He was definitely drafted for future potential rather than immediate production, they need to either rest him up until after the bye or he's gonna have to suck it up, study more, and seriously attempt to produce...it's Devin Thomas who appears to be in the driver's seat to shine as the season progresses - tall and strong build, good hands, fast, and aggressive (which is the one part of his game he needs to reel in, his offensive penalties need to be eliminated to warrant more snaps, but I'll take that as a rookie over some other scared, confused rookie WRs).

Any word on Griff? I haven't heard a word about the MRI...
About Kelly, I think we'll see him this weekend alot. I think we was kept out of the game to get an "extra week of rest". He was active and suited up. And correct me if I'm wrong, but I was sure I saw him go in a couple of times Sunday...
SF43, I think you're right about Thomas. I would much rather seem him being TOO aggressive than being timid out there. I think he'll be the 3rd WR by the end of the bye week.

thrash sure looks like he has nothing left as a receiver. he gets zero separation, and has dropped a couple of passes with contact from the defender.. it would be great for thomas to take a full step forward. still, he needs to learn to use his body without putting the teamin a hole with offensive pass interference penalties.. bad enough to not catch the ball, but adding 10 yards is tough to overcome..
kelly ? i dont know about this year. every week it is one step forward, one step back.. got to be frustrating for everyone..

I am pretty sure he was referring to possibly being without Griffin this Sunday.
Doughty's absence will be addition by subtraction and means that Moore will get into the game in the 3 Safety package. If he plays well, Reed could lose further ground on the depth chart and be relegated to Special Teamer status (as he should).

I was being sarcastic. We will miss Doughty even less than we miss Washington... which means not at all. Hopefully Griff can play.

Amen. Reed Doughty reminds me of the slow white kid from Remember the Titans that got burnt on every pass play. The only difference is that the slow white kid in that movie knew that Petey was a better player and gave him the spot.

How original. You guys are Reed Doughty bashing in a thread not about Reed Doughty ;)
(Please dont' glean from these comments that I in any way am a Reed Doughty supporter for our starting D. I am just getting tired of him being hR's personal pinata.)

I respectfully disagree about Griffin. He is one guy I would like to see rest and get fully healthy. The Rams o-line stinks. I really want to see more of what our DT rotation sans Griffin is like. I say play the kids and rest Griff until we need him more.

I'm all about resting both; my point is it's a bigger deal losing Griffin vice Taylor as far as line play goes.
I haven't seen all the games so I would also like to see the younger guys rotate in.

I like the idea of resting them both but I don't know if Griff's loss at this point is bigger than JT's. Our pass rush has been quite unspectacular the last two games. Griff's been badly banged up and missing plays/games for the a while now. He's still very valuable but his impact is less than Taylor both because of the depth behind him and due to his body's limitation even when "healthy" and active

Well I was simply quoting the Defensive Coach's daughter from "Remember the Titans".
Still, with him out and Moore playing I stand by the addition by subtraction comment.....

Although we are all gonna agree that long-term health is the most important thing for the team, I don't want to start assuming we can be okay w/o Griffin and Taylor. That makes our Dline a lot weaker and the rams best player is a tough guy to tackle, especially if he can get past the Dline with ease.
I don't want to overlook the game so I hope we can get something from our depth. I really hope this doesn't bite us in the ass come sunday.
I'm rooting for a blowout and resting the Offense as well (portis needs it)

This is from yesterday...
http://voices.washingtonpost.com/redskinsinsider/2008/10/springs_may_miss_practice_toda.html
Springs May Miss Practice Today
Shawn Springs said he may not practice today but expects to be on the field tomorrow and to play Sunday.
Springs, who said he is feeling better and is ready to play again, locked up Anquan Boldin and Terrell Owens, but given his injury I would not be surprised to see Carlos Rogers man up on Tory Holt on Sunday.
In just under two weeks, Braylon Edwards will be the big threat at wide receiver for Cleveland and that could be a Springs matchup. The following game, on the road against the Lions, is likely to mean heavy work for Springs, with Calvin Johnson the prototype for the kind of receiver Springs plays.

think the slow speed had a lot to do with the fall in the draft, course the 4.6

Actually I think that the loss of Griffen is bigger than Taylor in my opinion. I am actually more worried about a team lining up and running it straight at us than I am with a team coming out and throwing it all around the field. I have seen this defense really struggle in the past without Griffen in there. I think the defense nothing against Taylor is is a great player but the defense have played its best games while he has been out.

Really?
It's week 6 of his first year, and he's in danger of being a total bust already?
The draft isn't supposed to render immediate results. If a team is such a condition that they are relying on draftees in their first year, it means that either the draftees are incredible, or those teams have no depth. Draft picks, especially receivers and QBs, really shouldn't be evaluated until after their 1st full year, and even then, some will need longer before they come into their own.

I do see the frustration though, i don't expect much out of him this season, but maybe Zorn was really hoping to have one of the rooks step up and play opposite Moss at SOME point in the season so ARE can play in the slot.

agree.. right now it looks like thomas is a lot closer to being productive in our offense compared to kelly
the fact that they have been so patient with kelly leads me to believe they think he can contribute at some point this year.. my guess is that if he doesnt show some improvement by the bye week, he goes on IR.. or, if he has a major setback before then, he goes on IR
