For those of you who had October 7 as the date on which cornerback Pacman Jones gets into trouble, it’s time to collect your prize.
According to CBS 11 in Dallas/Ft. Worth, Jones got into a fight with a bodyguard on Tuesday night at an upscale Dallas hotel.
The team isn’t commenting on the situation.
Per the report, it was a “violent confrontation” in a bathroom. Patrons could clearly hear that a fight was occurring, and at least one mirror in the bathroom was broken. Jones reportedly left the hotel without paying his bar tab.

Wow. Just walk away Pac, just walk away. Some people don't get it. BTW, was it his own bodyguard he gets into a fight with?

More details:
Link (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/08/more-details-on-pacman-fight/)
The incident occurred at a hotel that was hosting a party after the local premiere of the new Max Payne movie. Jones was not an overnight guest at the hotel.
Pacman was perceived to be “clearly agitated” (and intoxicated) while outside the hotel. At one point, Jones pulled off his shirt (he had a T-shirt under it) and then went back into the building.
Hotel security broke up the bathroom fight between Jones and the bodyguard. A police officer spoke with Jones outside the hotel, but no charges were filed and no report was generated.
The Cowboys claim that they have no information about the situation, and thus the team had no comment.
The open question is whether the bodyguard was someone whom Jones had hired, or whether the bodyguard was retained by the team to shadow and/or babysit Jones. If it’s the latter, Jones might have committed an automatic violation of the Personal Conduct Policy since, technically, the bodyguard is a co-worker.

CP reporting the bodyguard was part of the security detail that Jerruh hired to keep the Pacster out of trouble.
I'll bet they tried to get him out of the hotel when they sensed he was acting out, and he resisted them.

Even more detail:
Link (http://www.profootballtalk.com/2008/10/08/jones-scuffled-with-his-team-issued-babysitter/)
The Dallas Cowboys had no comment about the fight involving cornerback Pacman Jones because the team had no information about the incident. Well, if the team doesn’t have information about the situation, it simply hasn’t bothered to ask for it.
Per a league source, the “bodyguard” with whom Jones fought in the bathroom of a Dallas hotel was an off-duty police officer who has been hired by Cowboys owner Jerry Jones to babysit Pacman.
The source says that the problem started because the babysitter popped off to Jones’ female companion. Jones, who had been drinking, then started up with the guy, and it culminated in a scuffle.
Jones, we’re told, had marks on his face at practice on Wednesday.

Wow the fact that this is with his own team bodyguard is even more interesting. Some people just never learn at all and Pacman is one of them. I can't believe Goodell was actually convinced this guy would change regardless of Jerry Jones' league power.

My favorite response so far from a Cowstank forum:
Why is everybody automatically assuming it wasn't the security guard who attacked Pacman?
Seriously?
Is that a rhetorical question?

This is all news to me, I just got home from a late day of work so I'm still checking out details.
But, my first thought isn't about any suspension. It's about whether or not he's even going to have a job anymore.
At this point, can you *really* suspend Pacman Jones for a game or two? After everything? I have a hard time imagining that.

Well ESPN is saying the bodyguard, whose last name is ironically, Jones, elected to not file charges.
As far as Newman is concerned, they are trying to determine if he needs surgery. If he does, he will miss at least 6 weeks.

The fact that the bodyguard is not pressing charges is why it's even a question right now. If charges were pressed, Pacman's career is over, in my opinion.
Since charges weren't pressed, I'm not sure where it goes from here. I don't think that necessarily means it's pushed under the rug as fas as Goodell is concerned, considering it's been less than 2 months since Pacman was even allowed back into the league.
And no doubt that the potential loss of Newman is huge. Although he's looked bad at times this year, he is still their best corner for sure.

For what it's worth (not a lot) it seems to be about a 70/30 split among Cowboys fans on their forum as to Pacman's fate.
70 say he's gone tomorrow, 30 say it's no big deal.
Me, personally, I'm just ecstatic. Perfect, perfect timing!

The best thing for this guy to do is to stay away from alcohol of any kind and control himself. He has obviously demonstrated that he doesn't know how maintain his composure and has an issue with self-control. I kind of got that vibe from him during that hbo show, every small thing was a challenge that he took personally and you could see in his eyes that there was more to it than he let on. I think he's a dangerous person and doesn't deserve the money and second chances he has received.
I hope he gets indefinitely suspended from the NFL and fades away into obscurity where he can finally be locked up for being the thug that he is.

the reason he didn't press charges is Jerry jones i bet. he is Jones employee and i bet he gets a nice bonus not to file a report. not to mention keep his job and probably get a easy place to work for the team.
"keep your mouth shut, i give you X amount of money and you get a real easy job with a overall pay increase. talk, you get nothing, you fired, and you won't work in texas again."
these simple accords Keeps Pac Man in the league, and this gets brushed under the rug.
This time is 1 more incident away from imploding, and they deserve it. not just because they are the evil dallas cowboys, but because they keep bringing in turds like TO, Tank, PacMan, etc. they act like a team that has done something, but hasn't won a playoff game. Have a Head Coach who thinks he does something, when in fact he does nothing, its all JAson Garrett. he does nothing with the defense (and if he does, its horrible).
i consider this team lucky it hasn't imploded yet, and i feel probability wise, its only a matter of time. i think there luck has run out...

I dont think it matters if he presses charges or not. At least as his fate in the NFL is concerned. They warned him that one more incident and he is most likely banned from the NFL. So lets see if the NFL sticks to its guns and bans him.

I have the perfect punishment for him. He should be suspended from returner duties and forced to start at corner playing man press coverage (especially against the Skins). That's one way to ensure Redskins dominance. Oh, and put Newman on the other side also playing man press coverage.

I'm in doubt as to whether anything gets done here. The witnesses were the bodyguard JJones hired, Pacman (I will no longer abide by his wish to be called by his gov't name), and the hotel security person from what I've read. This may end up being too easy for Jerry Jones to keep under wraps.

It's already out. If Goodell flinches on this one, it'll open the door for the same problems with other people to resurface. How can he let Pacman slide, but not someone else? If he really want's people to take him serious as the guy who's going to "clean up" the NFL - he can't just let this happen with nothing.

Let there be no mistake, the fans over at CP seem to want PacMan's head.
I have to stick by my original POV when he was reinstated. He needs a steady income stream to handle the lawsuits that will surely come his way from the strip club shooting where the bouncer was paralyzed. Going all Joe Pesci on his bodyguard in the bathroom isn't the end of the world. Maybe suspend him without pay for one game.

I hope he isn't punished. I heard on the radio (no link) that part of the terms of the Pac-Man trade was that if PM managed to not get suspended this season, the 'turds would send an additional 6th rounder to the Titans. But if he is suspended and misses any games at all, the Titans instead send a 5th rounder to the 'turds. I'd rather that he just keeps on playing for them and is in general a giant distraction/worry/headache for the team all season. It's not like he's winning any games for the 'turds, anyway.

I don't see how this can be true. Why would the Titans have to surrender a pick if he gets in trouble. I can't imagine how it would benefit them to agree to that. I can see Dallas sending a pick if he's stays clean, but if Dallas suffers, Tennessee bails them out? That doesn't compute.

Ed Werder on ESPN just said that Pacman has been telling his teammates that the fight was much more violent than has been depicted so far.
Why in God's name would you be telling people that right now???
I really hope Goodell brings the hammer. This guy is a disgrace to our favorite game.
According to the always popular "unnamed sources", however, if a suspension comes it will be minor. One or two games. I fail to see how, after being suspended for a year and being back in the league less than 6 months, a one game suspension is considered a fair punishment. Blah.
Matter of time, I guess.
