This is one of the funniest videos yet. I like how at the end Portis tells Cooley if he moves without him, he will blow him to smitherines. You've got to see this.

You gotta be kidding me. This is great. Smithereens. Do any other players from any other teams do anything like this?
A Holt Ram and a Jackson Ram. No way.

It wasn't trash talk, just a spoof of them playing characters hunting for Ram. They do say something about getting the Jackson Ram and the Holt Ram but it's hardly trash talk.
The concept, the characters and the costumes were funny but these guys really need to hire a writer.

It wasn't trash talk. It was pretty funny and I don't think that any Ram would take particular offense to it or find it particularly useful as bulletin board material, lol.
LMAO @ "If you move one 'pubic' inch".

It was very funny and creative and if I was a Rams Linebacker or safty I would warn Chris and Clinton to keep their head on a swifell. As well as the Skins are playing why in the world do you give added incentive to a desprate team, it's like poking a wounded bear (or Ram).

Doesn't trash talk at all, just taking advantage of them being called the Rams. In a way it actually compliments SJax, because they say they see a Jackson ram.. it's big and beautiful. And hairy. Doesn't say anything about demolishing them or anything, just a goofy video. I bet Sjax and Holt would get a chuckle.

This had no effect on the game, I think Portis' 127 rushing yards and two TDs prove that. Cooley didn't have a bad game either (other than the fumble, and fumbles have little to do with practice).

I don't think the two of us would see eye to eye on this so it is pointless to debate. However, it is short sighted at best to say that b/c Portis accumulated impressive "fantasy" statistics that he had a good day. I'm sure he would be the first to say that winning is more important that individual accomplishment. That qualm aside, the issue I have with pro athletes (not Portis and Cooley as I really don't care about this THAT much), is that PRACTICE IS NOT ABOUT IMPROVING YOU AS AN IDIVIDUAL!!!!! Practice is about the team coming together and improving as a collective of players. This is why Allen Iverson (I had to use the "practice poster boy") is such a fraud... Yes he has immense talent, but what he doesn't get is that your teammates need to be part of that talent as it isn't a one man show at the end of the day...
And as far as Cooley is concerned, he had a TERRIBLE day (again, I believe fantasy football distorts the reality of what real football is). Will I still be out there with my Cooley jersey on? Sure, but I am not about to turn a blind eye to a guy who had a key boneheaded mistaked that contributed to losing to either the worst or second worst team in the NFL. It is inexcuseable... I can't say whether this video clip contributed or not (my guess is no as it is fairly innocuous but still one wonders), but find me a head football coach in the NFL that says these "not quite good enough to be a Mad TV ripoff" skits are ACCRETIVE to the business of winning football games and I will shut up. No head coach will argue these add value and neither will I.
Therefore, I would say it is reasonable to believe that by creating such video content, it is at least REASONABLE to wonder if in some manner it contributed to the loss today.

Your problem with fantasy football aside, I'd say averaging six-and-a-half yards every time you touch the ball and scoring two TDs is a pretty good day at the office.

Wow. So you'd take some statistics and a loss and call it a good day?? Well thats the problem RIGHT there. In football and expescially the NFL, it is all about who wins. I'm positive that Portis would trade places with Jackson today...

I dont think the video itself had anything to do with the loss, but it certainly is evidence that the skins didnt take this Rams team seriously and were not concentrating in practice, imo, as hard as they were for the previous games. This may be the coaches fault too, i dont know, but they dont call these trap games for nothing, Skins should have been better prepared.BL.

You're definitely right that any sane player would take a win over personal stats. However, players are perfectly capable of having a stellar personal performance in a losing effort. This is one of those circumstances.
Portis did everything that he personally could do as far as helping our cause. However, other people around him had some mental screw-ups. He had a good day as far as running the ball and doing his job, there were just too many negative things happening around him for him to overcome by himself.
Great day for him, but of course he would rather have the win. When reading the thread about Earnest Graham playing fullback and essentially saying, "To hell with my stats," I couldn't help but think that Portis is one of those guys who would do exactly the same. It's well-documented that he's said blocking is one of his favorite things to do. That could be fun to watch. :)
Anyway, in some aspects I agree with what you're saying, but I don't think that a stellar effort by an individual should be overlooked because some other guys fumbled or checked out mentally, whatever the case may have been.

I'm not sure what that sentence is supposed to mean. Of couse myself as a fan and Portis as a player would rather have a win. I don't think anyone is debating that. It wasn't a good day for the team as a whole.
But by your logic no player on a losing team can have had a good game individually. I could not disagree more.
The "problem" is that more players didn't play as well as CP. If they had the Skins would have won.

Look, I know I'm in the minority, but I just don't think this is a HS team where the main focus is to develop young boys into becoming men. In the NFL, these guys are paid a Kings ransome for one reason and one reason alone... I believe all of their public actions should be accretive to that end goal.

I agree with the first part, but the whole key to offense (and Zorn touched on this) is that the 11 have to be 1. A bad game by one is shared by all. The collective fail, but I agree Portis had a great individual/statistical effort. He is a phenominal player and if we start winning again, is probably the league MVP.

No one is saying that
But Portis played well, are you gonna doubt that?
A lot of players played well yesterday -- do you think they're all just in practice not laughing, not talking to each other, just working non-stop? Let's be real for a second -- this is a kid's game. Of course this is a more violent, more profitable, and thus more "important" variation -- but at its heart it's still a kid's game.
I bet you none of the people on this message board plays a kid's game for a living -- and yet, they ALL have joked around at work one time or another. I know I do. If you don't enjoy what you're doing, you're less productive. Football is something that is naturally enjoyable -- it would be stupid to take away that element.
