View Full Version : Debate Drinking Game

So I'm getting together with some of my friends tonight to enjoy the debate a little more than I've enjoyed the last few. Thought I'd check to see if anyone has any thoughts on good rules for this. Most of the stuff I've found online is funny, but in a ridiculous and impossible kind of way, like: "Every time a candidate says "folks," threaten to foreclose on an Iowa farm unless the farmer's daughter "cooperates.""

So, here's what I'm thinking. Drink every time:

McCain says:
My friends
Maverick
Refers to Obama with an inanimate pronoun
Anything about being a POW

Obama says:
Fundamental difference (anyone else notice that one?)
Hope
More of the same
Starts a sentence with Look, ...

Anyone says:
Change
Bill Ayers
Uses an anecdote about some random person from the campaign trail

I'm also thinking about drinking any time someone repeats a claim that has already been debunked by FactCheck (Iraq has a $79 billion surplus, we're giving $700 billion per year to countries that don't like us, etc) but I'm not sure I'd survive.

You guys have any thoughts?

Also, if anyone is upset about me starting a new thread for this, please confine your rant to a separate thread ;)

Drink whenever Barry says "uh" or "umm" and you'll be comatose halfway through.

Some of these are going to have to be just sips. But I'm thinking the average American anecdotes should be drink until the story ends.

'Joe the plumber' would have been a good one. Just make it "Joe" anything and you may wake up by Sunday.

Or when McCain inadvertently winks or busts out the blinking barrage while being criticized :)

"Middle Class Tax Cuts" would have required a 30 pack "Joe the plumber" would have required a keg.

Well, I hadn't planned on playing but when I heard McCain say something about troops to teachers, I found myself running for the liquor cabinet.

I missed that during dinner - what was he getting at?

Troops becoming teachers without certification. No disrespect to our troops but nobody should just get to be a teacher, without going through the proper channels. Personally, I think it is already too easy to become a teacher.

Yeah, that one was really surprising, and I really expected Obama to say something about it. I wonder if he meant we should do away with the certification process totally or only in the case of returning troops?

The more I think about it, the more it shows the disregard he has for teachers, as if "Hey, it's easy. Anyone can do it, so why put up barriers like becoming certified"?
