1- Did you know we are tied for the 6th worst Kick Return average at a meezly 20.2 yards per return?
2- But we are 8th best in punt returns at 11.3 per return.
3- Also, did you know that we have only allowed our opponants to convert 5 3rd downs thus far? That'sa rate of 15.2%...tops in the NFL by far.
4- We have allowed the second most penalties (only Oakland is higher).
5- we have the number ONE ranked offense,
6- but we have slipped to the 9th best defense.
7- we have only managed to have 2 total takeaways, both on int's. We have given away 5 however for a -3 ratio.
Just interesting stats to mull over. Especially that -3...we need to change that and quick. (well that and the penalties)

I think we've been on the positive side of the turnover ration in a long time. I knew about the 3rd downs and the penalties. Who doesn't know about the penalties. I figured our kick return wouldn't be any good and I'm surprised at the punt returns though. Doesn't he fair catch quite a few of those things.

Just to show you how AWSOME the stat is about us only allowing (5) 3rd down conversions...
Seattle (who has a MUCH better defense than last year, and is currently 3-0) has allowed (25) 3rd down conversions. 5xs the amount the Skins have.
Simply amazing.

Let's see...We gave up 32 points to Atlanta and 24 points to New York. I wonder what our defensive stats are like on first and second downs. That negative turnover ratio is all on the defense. The offense is being fairly careful with the ball, far more than last year. The defense isn't getting the ball at all, however, and that's because of the pass rush. Or, rather, the lack thereof.

Yes they are! I'm quite impressed with our team this year and feel very confident going into each week. I likethat feeling.

Well, you have a point. We are tied for second worst in take aways. We're not creating fumbles, and until last week, I didn't think we were even trying.
Those points to Atanta were mainly thanks to fumbles in our zone. They didn't do much offensively against us.
Are there any plans in sight to have a better pass rush in DC? I'd love to see a little more disruption up there.

Without wreaking havoc in the backfield, I don't know how we're going to cause any turnovers. Edwards must get a little more creative with the blitzing. Our ends clearly aren't going to suddenly start bombarding the QB from their pass rush efforts. There's gotta be some tinkering with LBs or DBs to not let the turnover ratio get too far out of hand.

A fair catch doesn't count as a return.

And did you know our punter is tied for worst in the league for average punt length? 37.5 yards I believe

We won't be on the positive side of the turnover ratio until we get something that could, with a little squiting in one eye and that filmy sort of stuff over the other, resemble a decent pass rush. I keep saying that we should at least try putting LaDairus Jackson in on passing downs, but no, no one listens to the 16 year old....

Hey... Hey....HEY! Nobody said anything about scoring defense now did they? BUT IF they were we be #21. Hmmmmm!
Anyway ::::: WE HAVE the only kicker in the league who's drawn a major penality. That got to be worth something!

That surprises me as Morton was obviously a great KR here but he was horrible as a PR. I would have expected the reverse.

SPENCE: I've wondered the same thing. Also, aren't defensive stats based on TOTAL YARDS YIELDED? If so, then it is somewhat misleading. OK, we yield about 280 yards per game (which 'ranks' us 8th or 9th).........but as you have mentioned, we have also "yielded" 31 and 24 points in two straight games. Not exactly an indestructable defense by any measure. If I'm not mistaken, there are a couple of teams in the NFL that have yielded as much points IN THREE (3) GAMES, as we have yielded in the Atlanta game alone. Something to ponder.

not worried about the points. There were many factors in those points that were given up, a lot of luck on the other team's side helped with those...especially Atlanta. The way we played, we should have beaten them 40-10. They were nt impressive. At least the Giants earned their points.

Luck and FIELD POSITION. We should pick up Brooks or Andy to start booting the ball.....
