My dog got Skunked!!

I let my dog out last night and he got sprayed right in the face! (POW!!! Right in the kisser!!!!) I kept him in the garage overnight and took him to the pet wash where they have a "de-skunk" wash, but it didnt help all that much. Besides tomato juice, is there anything else that could help get rid of the stink??

You could pee on him. But that would give him a different stink, lol. I've heard that vinegar works somewhat.

Same thing just happened to my boss's dog...they way he told the story we were cracking up, but it's really no laughing matter. They say being sprayed in the face can cause temp blindness.

The Internet is your best bet for ideas, I've heard that the tomato juice thing is an old wives tale, and that it doesn't really work.

OT: My little Bingo (avatar) cornered a possum in the yard last month and I had to get him out of there before the snarling creature went after him with those teeth.. Good lord. We don't have skunks around here.

My brother's dog got skunked last year and it was the worst. The whole house smelled of skunk for about a week. Google is definitely your friend. There is a weird conconction with some ingredients you probably wouldnt think to use. Good luck.

Your dog kinda looks like mine. I Don't know much about the stink...try getting used to it. Like the horrible dog farts.
