Nice write up shally. Can't say I disagree with much but I don't think Taylor can play the SAM and while I agree to say good-bye to Springles the jury is out on Hall still ....
Also, do you really have to spit so much when you get mad? I feel like I just walked out of the carwash

You better believe that if Hall stays healthy(like he has been) and he plays decent you will see him signed and Springs will be on the first plane to Dallas.

I am okay with us leaving Springs in Seattle this weekend, adios.
And I am a HUGE fan of the D.Hall signing but he has been very unproductive the last two years. I don't believe he's washed up or anything and I know he has a knack for making plays so I want to see him get all the chances possible this year. I also would liek to believe that most of his issues results of the environment he was in. I am not willing to just assume we're good at CB though b/c we have him Smoot and Rogers next eyar

He's been misused these past two years. I think coaches perceive him to be a shut down corner. And he's not. He gives big cushions and tries to read the quarterback (to get a jump). And he makes big plays using that formula. Considering we already have a shut down corner in Rogers (I would include Springs but, ... ah you know), and we have lacked defensive playmakers since Sean Taylor's death (RIP, much love), he is a perfect fit in Washington.
Also he has managed to force turnovers even when he has been pigeonholed into those systems (he had five interceptions last year with Atlanta, and 3 this year before being waived by Oakland).

i think that overall, JC has the bigger upside than Romo--- provided we get him the necessary support

JC will never be the turnover machine that Romo is but at the same time, he will not be the playmaker that Romo is either. They are cut from different cloth. Romo is of a similar fabric as is a Brett Favre. He can make plays out of broken plays and make needless blunders.
Jason is a system QB. He needs everything around him working in unison to do great things.
I agree that the upside is bigger, in the context of winning football and not necessarily statistics, with a good system QB, provided the support.

I am not sure how long that will take, the OL needs to be fixed fast, and by the time JC and Zorn get the offense down(1-2 years) , there will be rookies on the OL or a FA signed and they will need time to gel together.

i think that JC is every bit as good as Rypien was and in time will be every bit as good as Doug Williams was at his best... we won superbowls with both of those guys. it is all about the supporting cast

Good read, Shally, as painful memories flood back. I especially agree with getting our three rookie WRs/TEs some more playing time. Our season is at a crossroads and the offense is dragging it down. I would rather us sink with rookie mistakes than struggle along as we have the past few games.

let's face it..except for the detroit game last year, ARE is really a one play a game player as a receiver.
i really really hope that kelly gets some playing time this week.. i cannot tell you how huge i feel it would be.
ARE is a specialty-play guy. he is not a consistent regular receiver and the team should game plan with that in mind.. ironically, it might make ARE's plays that much more effective..

I still think ARE can contribute as a slot 3rd/4th WR. A big possession WR will make both Moss & ARE more effective, IMO. Eventually, barring injury, I expect Thomas & Kelly to be the #1 and #2 WRs with Moss & ARE as the 3rd/4th WRs.

moss wont ever be a #3 receiver.. he will cost far too much at that point to justify keeping him.. once he drops to #3, he either plays for far less, or more likely , he moves on...

Yes, I am forced to agree with you. 2009 is probably the last year for both Moss & ARE.

Good write-up, Shally. Considering our guys were coming off a bye, a very disappointing effort. Coach needs to become the Evil Captain Kirk this week and just screech at them during practice.

Very true, Shally. I remember Mark Rypien saying something along the lines of "being handed the keys to a Cadillac and all I have to do is drive it"...
Also, as usual, excellent write up!!
