Bottom line is that if we want to bring our A game to the playoffs we're going to have to adjust to playing in prime time. If we can't adapt to big time games, we don't deserve a playoff berth.

This is bad. Also, we don't have to be used to primetime for the playoffs, because most playoff games are played during the day. I think only one game in the first week is Sat. night.
It's not national games we struggle in (because the first Dal game was a national game at 4:00), it is primetime (night) games. Cooley even blogged about how awkward it is to wait all day to play a game.
Still not convinced we shouldn't play anymore night games? How about this, we are 0-3 at night and 7-1 the rest of the time.

I agree with that. It's a big game and we need to show up during prime time in front of the nation. Afterall, the Super Bowl is a night game. :)
I just don't like night games lol. I have to wait all day for it and it limits where I can watch it.

Neither would I...But, I guess one of the facts of life in the NFL is that the better a team does, and the more popular they are, the more often they will play night games. We need to figure out how to win these games if we ever expect to go all the way.

Well, it could be worse... we could be the Ravens. They haven't won a primetime game since 2005!!! So there is a chance...
If they line up and execute then the timing of it all doesn't matter. It's one thing to see miscues on a short week (like a thursday off a sunday game) but attributing night time to the reason a team is losing is a sad excuse used by a middling team. Baltimore can play D but the Skins have more talent across the board. If they do their jobs then they should win regardless of when they play.

The networks try very hard to avoid having patsy teams playing in nationally televised night games. Maybe the teams we faced at night had as much to do with our lack of success as the fact that the games were at night.

I think you're correct. If we lose two more games we'll probably need help in the form of other teams losing. I think there's a very good chance that some 10-6 team in the NFC will be watching the playoffs this year.

these guys make way too much money to worry about the time the game is being played.you still have to hit, run.catch and tackle.it's all the same ,the time you play isn't an excuse when you play bad.

Amazing the attitude of the fans based simply on the game being moved to a different time of day. You'd think the announcement was that the Skins will only be allowed to have 9 players on the field at once and Portis will have to run backwards the entire game.
The Dallas game stunk, but I think there were specific reasons for the loses to New York (Game 1 with first-time HC and new system) and Pittsburgh (injuries, 14th straight week of football) which had nothing to do with the time of day. If Washington plays well offensively they beat Baltimore, regardless of the time of day.
The Giants on the other hand . . .

That's fair. I just think it's an oversimplification to suggest the Skins play better during the day than they do at night, or that the national spotlight is a problem.
Washington didn't play very well against St. Louis, Detroit, Cleveland or Seattle and the sun was shining for those games. And the first Dallas game was a national game and Washington performed quite well.

We were 4-0 in prime time last year with basically the same team
So I don't buy that
I think we'll take it to the Ravens :devil2:
btw what should we call this? The Mets and Yankees have their "subway series."
I think we should call this the Beltway Bowl

So will seeing 30,000 Steelers fans and then 20,000 Dallass fans in the stadium in successive home games.
The 12th Man needs to be energized and ripping off Pittsburgh by handing out crappy towels isn't the answer.

Because the way we are playing... we lost to the Rams, barely beat the winless Lions, Browns, Seahawks... and were exposed against the Steelers at home. If we continue playing like this, we WON'T make it to the playoffs. Especially with how the other NFC teams are playing.

I agree with the first part of this, but not the "exposed" part. The Pitt game featured banged-up Moss (he was on the sidelines for much of the second half), Portis (MCL injury happened in the first quarter) and Samuels, as well as being the 14th straight week the team had played football. All that and if the special teams doesn't get a punt blocked that game probably goes down to the wire.
Bottom line: The 'O' needs to make plays over the next five games or the Skins will watch the postseason. That's about all there is to it.

I would agree if we would have run over the Cowboys two weeks after that coming out of our bye. We didn't. And this weekend we barely beat a very poor seahawks team. I blame not only the injuries and the lack of rest for that Steelers game.

That applies to the other teams just as easily
And many of them have tougher remaining schedules than us
We have a better chance then all the other teams in contention for the 6th spot, and that's no joke. Especially not in this year's NFC. So no reason to feel sorry for ourselves. We've been the the playoffs twice in the past three years, and hopefully after this season it will be 3 times in the past 4. At least we're not the Lions, Rams, Raiders, Chiefs, etc., even though some of us act like we are

Great, so we shouldn't complain just because we are better than the Lions? I expect great things from the Redskins, not just be better than the laughingstocks in the league. I fully support the team, but we need to play better if we want to make the playoffs, period.

We're not just better than the Lions
We're better than a lot of clubs
You know what I meant, the point is we're a competitive team and we are at least "in the mix" every year. And there's a lot of folks who say it "doesnt matter" what you do if you dont win the super bowl -- those people need to go through a 0-16 season to understand how wrong they are.
And no, we wont have to play better to make the playoffs, because we've already outplayed the many teams under us. All things even (meaning, if the Skins play the same they've played all season, and other teams play the same they've played all season), we're in. If you're expecting the 91 Skins then you're setting yourself up for disappointment and that's your fault. I'm satisfied with a 7-4 record and good position to make the playoffs. I would be satisfied with a playoff season. We can build on that.

Post-draft there was much discussion about the direction of the team and the decisions being made. It seemed most people's expectations were middle of the road with fringes thinking that this team needed to essentially bunker down and re-stock (mostly due to the unknowns in Campbell and Zorn) and other thinking that this was a playoff team that could repeat (myslef included). I wonder if back then people would've taken being 7-4 at this point in the year, but I'm guessing most would. I don't think anyone was mistaking this team as a top contender entering the year but they've postioned themselves to contend which it would seem it more than what many expected. Every team has shortcomings, and thankfully for this team those are fairly clear and not too widespread. If they can get some increased production from the young guys and pick it up in a few spots, there's no reason to think that this team can't continue to win and make a run.

Ah, Bless you Moe, an eternal optimist. :)
If I recall, I think I said I would be happy at 8 - 8 on the season. Well, to be honest, I am happier where we are right now. Yes, I want the remaining games to all be wins! And I will still consider it a decent season if we hedge toward 10 - 6!!!!
Oh, and it's time for Coach Zorn and our Beloved Team to break the prime time bug-a-boo!!!!! And when better to do it !!! Sneak up on the buzzards and sink 'em!

I think you are right that most of us Skins fans would have been happy to be 7-4 at this point before the season started. But, I think most of us are also disappointed that we are fighting for our playoff lives at this point instead of cruising into postseason after having beaten Dallas in Dallas and Philly in Philly.
The key was the loss to St.Louis at home. When a team is a playoff contender like we are but not a dominant team, it simply must find a way to beat a team as bad as the Rams no matter how awful it may be playing that day. Failing to do so has put us in this very precarious situation.
