Here is a hypothetical question for all. Lets just say you have a friend who has a bookie. And you piggy backed off your friend and put 50 dollars on the Steelers with the 11 1/2 over the Bengals. So after that game you decide to roll over those winnings into the Oklahoma vs Texas Tech game a take Oklahoma. So now its Wednesday, your sitting on a 150 bucks and your buddy hasn't collected yet.

Now lets say you happen to notice that the Eagles are favored by 3 over the Cards and you like the Cards to win eventhough west coast teams are crap on the east coast but knowing a win will get them the West and their first division title since the 70s. Do you parlay that $150 into that game?...knowing at worst you will break even and at best you win $270 after the juice

Go for it. If at worst you break even, you essentially have lost nothing, but if you win, you score $270. Surprised the Iggies are favored... I'd take the Cards all the way.

You... err, your friend ;), doesn't pay any juice unless you lose a bet. If you lose, you the parlay, you should owe $15, if you win, you should get the entire $300. All winnings should be paid 100% unless you...'re friend is using some middleman that is is taking a pinch.

If that is the case, I would cash out now and find another bookie.

No
Just be happy with the 150 dollars you won

I'd say take the money, but I'm not a gambling man.

Personally I would and I am

Taking
Eagles -3
Titans -11
Hawks +12 1/2

and a 3 way parlay with all three included but all this is hypothetical

I'm not a gambler, but I'm very surprised to hear that Philly is favored. I imagine that would be hard to pass up. Feelin' good about the Cards' chances.

really betting lines aren't about teams. its about PERCEPTION.

the reason the betting line fluctuates is because they want 50 percent of the bet on one side and 50 percent on the other. So if they see mad people taking the cards, the line will change until it gets close to 50.

thats why smart betters look for when perception doesn't really meet reality. and they put there bet in fairly early, before the entire public catches on and the setters have to change the betting line to try and get 50-50

so i am never surprised with betting lines. the betting lines are a reflection of public perception. so i am a little stunned people still think philly is nice. but then again, its at philly, and the cards haven't won on the east coast since dinosaurs were roaming around

For the other dumb people like myself who love to get a little action www.covers.com is great site. Its not a betting site just gives you the odds and tells you where the public is putting its money and who the pro's are taking. Really good forum over there as well. If I really want to take a game but I'm just not sure I go the opposite way the public is and it usually works out.

cheers

cheersI'll give it a shot for my pick 'em leagues. I stopped betting in the 90's when parity took hold of the NFL.
