that was the headline of the rumor mill on the NBA page of espn.com
of course, you have to be an "insider" to be able to read the content. is anyone here an insider and can kinda paraphrase what they said. i and im sure many others would love to know.

Well, he was a free agent (or going to be, I can't remember). Of course he was ready to leave. What's the story there?

The story would be that Arenas was saying the whole time he wanted to stay in Washington. So obviously that wasn't true.

If he didn't want to stay in DC, he didn't have to sign the contract offer.

There is obviously something to the story. But nobody is an insider so we cant read it. He was talking like DC was his city and blah blah blah. It sounds like it was all BS and he was going for the money. Sure he took what 8 million less over 6 years. Big whoop. He basically got his max contract from the Wiz. Who wouldn't take it?

I read a blip that said he was all but ready to go back to Golden State.

I'm not saying that Arenas didn't prefer to leave, only that if the money was right (which it was) he was willing to stay in DC. Obviously, that's somewhat at odds with his DC love speak but it doesn't mean that he was hell bent on leaving.
If I were Arenas, I would have prepared myself for the Bullets low balling him. It has only been recently (the last 10 years or so) that Abe Pollin has actually paid people properly. Or, maybe he was prepared for the FO to let him go because he is always injured and because they came to the conclusion that, much like Dominique Wilkins, he will never be the centerpiece of a championship squad.

golden states offer wasn't much less then the offer he finally took. if he had wanted to leave he would have taken it. it wasn't a lot of a salary decrease, especially with it being guaranteed.
thats why i wanted to know what the article says. it could mean he said to a friend :yea i like golden state, i might go there" or it could just be a rumor since it isn't an actual article, but rather in the Rumor Mill. we just don't know.

The real question is whether that scenario would have been better or worse for the Wiz than what really happened.

not as big a deal as i thought now that i read it.
if he had been low balled, he would have felt disrespected. and another team comes out like the warriors did, you feel respected from them. so you go there.
He did say he wanted to stay in DC. it was whether DC wanted him back (shown by the offer). he was true to his words, this isn't anything major.
