I feel that Trotter is really getting a bad rap about that penalty on Sunday. I have seen it on video maybe ten times, and I get pissed more and more each time that I do. It was one of those chicken shit deals where the other guy was being overly aggressive well after the fact and Trotter reacts to him. Then the guy throws his hands up in the air as if he didn't do a thing wrong when he notices the refs are paying attention. My opinion only of course, but I can't blame him for his reaction on that play one bit.

Here's my take on this: I've played all the major team sports out there and this is something that is fairly common in the higher levels of competition of those sports. I KNOW that Fassel or one of the coaches or players told that O-lineman to pick on the most volatile, smack/trash talking guy on the defense. He picked out Trotter from a group of 3 or 4 skins (trotter wasn't even in on the tackle) and victimized him. The moment trotter retaliated, the lineman threw his arms in the air like he was totally innocent. Think about it...how the hell else were they going to get out of a 3rd and 24 or whatever it was??? It's obvious it was a setup. They knew a personal foul was the only way to convert that 3rd down. They probably picked trotter because he'd been jawing with the giants O-line all day.

My Take On It: I was at the game and I missed the play......... the man sitting behind me (DRUNK!!!) fell asleep and poured his beer down my back...........

But hey, he's a vet...... he sould know better.

I sincerely hope that guy behind you wasn't my son-in law, who had my ticket for this game. That said, I totally agree that if they sent someone out to taunt a foul from someone, I would have understood it a lot better if they had picked on someone other than one of the most experienced linebackers in the league. These guys have to learn a little discipline, be it on snap counts, blocking without holding, or goaded into stupid penalties like Trotter's.

"It was stupid," Trotter said. "I got hit in the back, and I retaliated. You can't just retaliate because normally it's the second guy who gets the flag. In this case, it was me, and as a result their offense drove the field and scored a touchdown just before the half. I think that was the difference in the ballgame."

I agree that he was a target, but obviously they picked the right target...but I didn't think he did anything worthy of a penalty...the officials need to let these guys play a little more...this is a sport played by agressive, testosterone driven, competetive men...let 'em mix it up once in awhile...

I've never played a sport where stupid penalties like that are accepted. When I played rugby, and I made sure to take this kid out of the game who had clotheslined one of my players and sent him out of the game with a concussion, i got benched for like 2 games. In wrestling, which is even more of an individual sport, I never once got called for unsportsmanlike conduct and people who did got killed by the coach.

I don't care if the other guy did it first. That doesn't justify anything. That penaly probably cost us the game. Trotter needs to just stay away from that situation.

The second guy to throw a punch [or whatever] always gets caught.

Didn't Trotter admit to grabbing the facemask in the paper? That's a done deal it he did?

No matter, Trotter & McCants need to be smarter than the opponent & the refs.

I know that its wrong for a player to react the way Trotter did. BUT....Its not as easy as some of you guys are making it out to be.

Of course it wasn't a smart thing to do, but we shouldn't throw stones. Heck, I remember once when I was around 12 years old and playing "pop-warner" football. Another kid from a different team kept holding me. Well, after another hold on me, while he was laying of the ground, I walked by and kicked him in the stomach.

If you knew me personally you'd no that I'm not like that. But in the heat of the moment I lost my composure.

I was very young at the time. Its not something I'm proud of...

LuvSkins17, don't worry. I was off the field very quickly. The thing that sticks out was that I didn't get a flag thrown. Just a very stern warning from the ref, coach, and my father.

Hail Yeah

Didn't you have a quote on Trotter saying, he did grap the face mask?

It's tough to hold in your rage, especially when the other player is acting like a jack@$$.

It surprises me that guys like Shannon Sharpe and Terrell Owens don't get into fights with opposing players.
