five guys burgers and fries

just ate in one down here in birmingham ala. and saw all kinds of wash. and maryland awards stuff up on the walls.
it was really good.
is it really that popular up there?

Yeah, but for me personally it was better when they weren't as popular. They are starting to get that franchise feel to them, which IMO is watering down the goodness of their product. Whereas I would break my neck and drive several miles to the one that was closest to me, one opened right across the street from my job a couple of months ago and I've only been there once.

First time I went to a 5 guys was a little over 10 years ago. Agree, they were better back then. But any time a place goes from 3-5 stores to hundreds there is going to be a drop off in quality. It's still pretty good IMO. Some relatives from Jersey were raving about it.

I think it was originally founded in VA. Pretty good stuff, love their fries, love that they offer them up "boardwalk" style with vinegar and old bay (or at least their version of it).

If anyone's around the Rockville area, check out Urban Burger near Rockville HS. So gooooood.

It started in Arlington about 20 years ago and I have been eating their burgers since then. I also grew up with the son of the baker who made their original buns.

A big fan of 5 Guys. What I love about the one in my local shopping Center is that it is filled with "Washingtonian" and "Wapo" articles and posters all over the place. Makes me feel like I am at home.......

I love Five Guys. I eat there whenever I get a chance to. Free peanuts doesn't hurt either.

Decent.. nothing special, unless compared to fast-food burgers.
If you like a lot of fries, then this place is where to go.

Burgers are good, but I definitely go there for the boardwalk style fries with vinegar. Gotta love a place that fills a huge cup with fries then pours a whole scoop into the bag afterwards.

Love 5 Guys.

Been eating there burgers and fries for years.

They are not as good as they use to be, but they are still better then most anything else I have had around the DC area.

Hard Times Cafe makes a great burger too.
