Breaking news out of Philadelphia. Sources close to both teams have just informed me that Philadelphia Eagles cornerback Lito Sheppard will be traded to the New York Jets in exchange for a 5th round draft pick, as well as a conditional draft pick based on playing time. The conditional pick could be either a 2nd, 3rd, or 4th round pick.
Wow...just wow.

Wow...just wow.
So in essence a garaunteed 5th this year and another pick in rounds 2-4 the following year? Guess they were determine dto move him, depending on Ryans offseason additions, Scott, Lito, maybe Ray Ray they could be pretty decent...oh thats right they dont have a QB. They'll be the ravens of the East lol.

Jets are racking up the players. Eagles are losing a few. Good news for us.

losing dawkins the ds emotional leader is a huge blow though. let them draft a bunch of safeties this year its a weak year for them

I am going to disagree with a lot of people here...
1) Lito wasn't playing at all. I wonder if he was even a game day active? For right or wrong, the Eagles were not using him down the stretch, and this is like getting two free picks for you garbage. This is the type move the Skins never pull off???
2) While Dawkins was an emotional leader, he obviously lost a HUGE step. As much as I hate the guy, he was the best S in the league aaround 2003-ish. He has NOT been the same player the past few years, and I hope the Eagles miss the leadership role he played, b/c I am going to miss seeing him trucked.

If we get a big time WR , I would love to have a Todd Collins type for a year as we are pretty close to a complete team with th exception of QB. Favres injury/crap play down the stretch hurt us. With no big QB's out there, I could live with a Jeff Garcia type I guess.
Basically we need what Collins gave you down the stretch in 2007 until we get a Franchise QB.
Best of luck with your additions. I am awaiting AKH's blog.

More importantly I think the Eagles have extreme confidence in their FO/Scouting department. They think they'll find a player younger that will be just as good. It has worked for them in the past.

They've lost Shappard, Dawkins and Considine, which is a hit to their depth any way you look at it. I can't speak intelligently about anyone they have in place to take those spots, but they seemingly have work to do in their secondary.

Maybe they think this is the year to do it, since Plax might not be back with the Gints this season and the Redskins have no passing game to speak of this season.

they will load up in the draft the same way they did when they took both sheppard and sheldon brown in the same draft.. i think they took michael lewis the year before and signed quentin mickel as a free agent
demps will be starting for them this year anyway. he is better than considine.
they will feel the loss of dawkins, but they managed to do without troy vincent and bobby taylor in one year and did fine.

True, but they still had Dawkins. Who is gonna be the leader now? They've taken some hits in the secondary and on the OL, but will probably restock through the draft as always. It won't make McNabb happy, but oh well, lol. Lets just hope they draft poorly this year. :D
