I have a very hard time with the fact that Trung is handcuffed when we get into the red zone. We should be putting the ball in the endzone after drives, not taking field goals. I think that Trung has that extra attribute to make people miss and get into the endzone from 15 yards out. I'm not saying to bench Betts or Rock... i love them both, but i don't think they should just throw Canidate aside during a drive in which he got them in the redzone. I think he should at least get some carries down there.
So basically, as an offense we can put up 35 pts a game but we are somewhat struggling in the redzone. I think that Trung should be given a chance.
Agree/disagree?
(oh, i am happy about being 3-1, but you can't settle for field goals against teams like the Eagles)

I agree. Trung is running effectively this year an I honestly believe he is not getting the ball enough. He can make things happen if he gets the ball.

I don't know if his styles fits in with goalline situations.

In the Redzone you need to run the ball north and south, Trung is not effective at that. Betts is their best north south runner.

It seemed that Trung faired pretty well in the preseason in short yardage and goalline situations. It's hard to say how he'll do if he doesn't get a chance. I'm just a little disappointed in the results when we get into scoring range. I just think that they should at least give him a chance to see if he can do it or not.

Nah, North/South is not always the rule. Look at Cartwirght's TD a few games ago. We tried twice to punch it up the middle and Rock scored going outside. Trung has been impressive and needs more carries.

Its not always the rule, you need the threat to shove it up the middle before you can try to bounce one outside.
Don't worry about trung and the redzone, did you really complain when gerald riggs scored every short yardage touchdown after byner would get them there?

Trung did north and south running yesterday, look at the tape. You'll see him hit a couple between the tackles and blaze for 5-6 yds in a blink. I'd say put him in, if there's even a space he has the speed to get to it and five in a matter of moments. Plus the guy can manuever through a lot of traffic.

I think the "red-zone" is expanded to 30 yards vice 20 when it comes to SS's play book. The offense seems to be very limited inside of 30 yards. To be honest, I don't care who gets the ball, as long as we see more TD's down close to the goal line.

Trung would be great for pitch plays, especially the old high schooler where the quarterback fakes the handoff left, every lineman blocks to the left, then the QB turns around and pitches to the other back running to the right. It seems to work every time inside the 5 in the NFL.
