Its just gossip, but Mike Fiorio (sp) from profootballtalk was on this junkies this morning and said that he thinks TO ends up with the Redskins. He thinks that Snyder will not pass up this opportunity to sell tickets in this economy by signing the big name. He also said the Redskins crave the big WR, which is why they were willing to give up so much for Johnson last year.
I hope we pass on TO, but I have a bad feeling about this. If Snyder wants him, he will get him for the publicity and ticket sales.
Can you imagine TO wearing Art Monk's jersey (is it retired?). :sfight:

Never mind about TO, Danny and Vinny need to be locked in a room permanently, anyway. Better yet, seal them up aboard the next scheduled satellite launch.

I have that weird feeling also that T.Owens will be a Skin.
It certainly wouldn't surprise me to see him sign with the Skins, but it'd be about as easy to swallow as it was to root for Deion. Sadly he's better than any WR we have (and likely he knows it) so I find this very conflicting.

T.O is a cancer but I would expect him to be a skin. He fits the formula. An older player on the downside of his career and in his 30's. Given that said he is still better than any receiver currently on our roster. I would fully expect this to get done even though I'm not supporting it since they have the caproom now.

Everyone knows that TO is happy for about 2 seasons. We sign him to a 2-year deal and then cut ties with him. Having a wide receiver like TO will make our offense better and possibly Jason Campbell better.

Of course, it may leave Zorn in the funny farm too.

After calling around the league, ESPN's Chris Mortensen says the Redskins, Vikings, and Ravens are all very unlikely to show interest in Terrell Owens.
Mort was definitive with the Redskins, saying "No way." Owens clashed with Vikings coach Brad Childress in Philly, and Ravens coach John Harbaugh was there as well. Both saw how divisive Owens could be up close, and reportedly want no part of him. With early reports suggesting the New York teams as unlikely landing spots, Oakland looks like the most logical destination.

I have to come clean on something. Let me preface this by saying, you long time posters know that I don't post ridiculous posts just to be outlandish.
But, secretly I hope we sign him. I know...I know.
After the age of the oline, WR to me is our weakest position. It was our weakest after 2007, and the three draft picks did nothing to improve the position. We go into this season with a lot of hope that the three picks improve enough to improve the position, but what if they don't? There are certainly no guarantees on any of them. High pick WR and TE's bust all the time.
Owens is still a top 5 WR even though he led the league in drops. He is older, but keeps himself in better phyical condition than just about anyone else in the NFL. I know all about off the field, but the guy is a gamer. No one can deny that. The way the FO runs the team, we are never more than a 1-2 year plan, so why not go all in and sign TO?

I don't think TO is the receiver he was 3 years ago. I think age has finally started to catch up to him. He had 2 100+ yd plus games last year. One against a San Fran team who decided to give him a free release and the other was against a 44-6 blow-out to the Eagles. That's 30% of his production in 2 games.

CERRATO CONFIRMS THAT THE ‘SKINS DON’T WANT T.O.
Posted by Mike Florio on March 5, 2009, 12:30 p.m.
At a time when some mixed reports were beginning to emerge as to whether the Washington Redskins are interested in receiver Terrell Owens, the team has removed all doubt on the matter.
Per the team’s official web site, executive V.P. of football operations Vinny Cerrato says that the team has no interest.
“[Owens’s representatives] called us three years ago before he went to Dallas, and we didn’t have interest then,” Cerrato said. “Why would we have interest when he’s three years older now? We have no interest.”

Yeah, but they were in 3 NFC Championship games before he came along and if memory serves, he didn't even play in the playoffs that year thanks to Roy Williams taking his leg out. In the grand scheme of things, I don't think he made a huge difference on that team overall because his horrific attitude countered all the good he did on the field as a player. Which has pretty much been the case everywhere he's been.
Actually, strike "pretty much."

As I said earlier, he is going to have very few suitors (if any). Lesser matters like the QB situation will not matter in this case. He should be very happy if the phone rings at all.
PFT has a list of teams that have said no to TO. It is not quite up to date as a few more have said no, but at this point I think more than half the league has already said no.

I would love if the Jags signed him. There is some d-bag writer for the team website, not sure of his name, but his blog is Ask Vic. He always claims moral high ground on behalf of the Jags against the Skins constantly criticizing Snyder. Signing TO would take away most of that moral high ground.

interesting option. he'd be the primary guy, sell some tickets, give them some juice but he isn't winning anything there.
carolina- might be desperate enough
no way. Richardson's stance on character players makes Gibbs look like a street walker. They want Holt anyway.
san diego-- norv would love him
Would be a trainwreck or the piece that elevates them. Norv couldn't handle him, but Rivers might be able to and if so, they'd be a scary offense.
san francisco-- desperate for receivers
Poetic. The circle is complete.
cleve-- mangini wants his version of randy moss
definitely be a statement move and like St. Louis, he'd get butts in seats. I think he'd dominate Edwards and Quinn and it'd end in ruin, but it'd be fun to watch.
the jets--- he belongs in the big apple
it does seem like NY is the logical location, but unless they swing for a QB with more cache than Clemmons, I don't see it.
While he'd be a square peg in a seemingly round hole, I think he'd make some sense in Indy. There's enough veteran leadership and you know Manning would 1) not take his antics and 2) probably give him enough looks to keep him in check for a year, that IMO he'd be a decent stopgap for them until they can fill in Harrison's spot. Manning, Wayne, Gonzo, TO....not an offense I think anyone would look forward to playing.
