I know this is not Redskins related, but this is surprising news. Peyton Manning threw for 6 TDs last night against the Saints. You'd think he had 8 INTs, right? He had none! Zip! Zilch! Nada! Peyton Manning, the king of mediocrity, threw for 6 touchdowns last night.

That weathers the storm a little, but not much. This is PEYTON MANNING we're talking about.

Peyton should get some love. He took more than enough crap when they didn't live up to expectations... so he should get some love for having them at 4-0. I think he is a great QB and this success isn't a fluke.

Come on...Manning mediocre? Give me a break...he's probably THE smartest QB in the league and he does very well every year!
3 time probowler in 5 full seasons.
He averages over 4,100 yards a season.
He has 38 MORE TD's than INT's in his career. (almost a difference of 8 per, this is not includingthis season's stats)
He's a career 62.1% passer!!!!
So his only "vice" is that he hasn't won any playoff games. Mediocre and Manning should NEVER be in the same sentence. Manning is amazing, and we should be so lucky to have such a great QB on our team!

Maybe the word you were searching for was Mr. Consistancy.
ps- it was vs the Saints who are playing like the worst taem in the NFL. But Manning is capable of pulling off such a feat any sunday.

Peyton is a good QB, but money talks. Teams make money in playoff games and Peyton has not won one yet. Most of his playoff losses that I recall, he seems to give up and quit after his team gets behind. It will be interesting to see if he can change that around this year and when the salary cap/free agency catches up with the colts.

"The king of mediocrity"? And Brett Favre is his pauper, right?

Manning is one of the top qbs in the league and now that he has a defense he will make some noise in the playoffs

I like Peyton, but I'm going to have to object to that particular statement. I beleive that the smartest QB in the league wears #11 for the Redskins.

You guys are just jumping on his bandwagon after his 6 TD game and you know it.

Maybe the Saints would be willing to part with some of the D-Line now what their season is over.

Yep, you've caught me, GIG. Might as well confess some other stuff.... I'm on the Randy Moss bandwagon after his 3 TD game. I mean, this guy was just a nobody from nowheresville, but after that I bet some people will be saying he's a good WR, maybe even Pro Bowl-level. It's just a fair-weather thing, I'm sure it'll die out soon enough and Moss will go back to mediocrity. Oh, I'm also on the Steve McNair bandwagon. I know this guy sucks normally, but that 15-for-16 effort has me convinced that he might just have some talent that could someday be turned into a decent QB. Call me wacky.

:rolleyes:Bravo
Manning had 23 picks last year.
JoeDaSchmoe

And that stat alone proves that he's an incredibly worthless QB. I see the light now.
I'm gonna go way out on a limb here and guess that in response to this, you'll pull out his INT numbers from all his other years.
Green-Is-Good
10-02-2003, 09:13 AM
Well, I wasn't, but that is a good idea. I made a mistake. He had 23 picks in '01, not '02.
98- 28 INTs
99- 15 INTs
00- 15 INTs
01- 23 INTs
02- 19 INTs
JoeDaSchmoe
10-02-2003, 09:19 PM
Let's bring out all the numbers, shall we?
98: 26 TDs
99: 26 TDs
00: 33 TDs
01: 26 TDs
02: 27 TDs
So, in all seasons but his rookie year, Manning has had more TDs than INTs. He has also managed to throw for more than 4,000 yards in each of those seasons, and is a two-time Pro Bowler.
Yeah, Peyton's definitely a fraud, everybody jump off the bandwagon before it runs into a brick wall.

Okay, since when was a 1:1 ratio good? Quarterbacks aim for a 2:1 TD:INT ratio. In only one of his seasons he had that.
JoeDaSchmoe
10-03-2003, 10:41 PM
They aim for it, but the career record is a 1.78 ratio. No one throws 2:1 consistently.
And let's also notice that in only one of his seasons did he have a ratio at 1:1 or under. Your claims are a bit off.
Green-Is-Good
10-05-2003, 02:31 PM
The others were hovering around 1:1
JoeDaSchmoe
10-05-2003, 02:44 PM
*sigh* Let's review:
1999: 26:15 ratio, or 1.73:1
2000: 33:15 ratio, or 2.2:1
2001: 26:23 ratio, or 1.13:1
2002: 27:19 ratio, or 1.42:1
So, as we can tell here, unless by "the others" you meant "one of those years, not including the rest," you were pretty far off on your claim that those ratios were hovering around 1:1. And, of course, his poorer ratio in 2001 couldn't beb ecause teams could just play the pass against the Colts all year because of the loss of Edgerrin James. No, no, it must be Manning, and his incredible suckiness.

I got to hand it to you Joe, you're boy Manning played very well last night... Against a good defense... Trailing 21 with 4 minutes in regulation. It took him a while to wake up, though. He is much better than I thought, but I still would not compare him to McNair.

This is the biggest win of PM's life! Too bad it didn't mean a damn thing.
JoeDaSchmoe
10-07-2003, 07:49 PM
Well, I wouldn't say it meant nothing. It wasn't a playoff game, but a win like this will definitely help come December, and God only knows what kind of confidence it will finally give the Colts in the postseason.

I like Manning. I remember an article on him a few years ago in SI that said he was like a football Savant, at one point in college he aparently didn't know what a can opener looked like, he had to call his girlfriend to find out what one looked like. But when he got on the field he could recognize pretty much every defense and know what play to audible into, it was a really neat article.
Onto more recent matters, how incredible was that comeback last night.
