On the philly sports radio station this morning; they were talking about Ramsey. They are scared that he is gonna torch the birds secondary. They also credited the shutdown of the bills to the bills lack of a running game.
They were saying the only way the eagles can win is if the skins shoot themselves in the foot (penalties)
They are also starting to turn on McNabb, saying that he is overrated. I'll keep you all informed this week on the happening on this station and the general feeling of the fans.

You know what is so damn funny about all this.....in the beginning of the season Ramsey was our weakness, the Skins would suck again because they dont have a QB, Ramsey is not ready, Ramsey is inaccurate, blah, blah, blah....now teams are worried that Ram is gonna come out and jam it right down thier throat! Man, this is just friggin GREAT!

Uhhh, I'm not going to get too excited about this. Ramsey is going to see more blitzing than he's seen so far.

With the eagles depleted secondary, no starters are left, coles can have a field day if ramsey beats the blitz to his throws.

I think the real story is the fans turning on Mcnabb. We'll see how long he lasts there losing, but the blame should go to the GM who likes to be cheap and go in to seasons 10 million or so under the cap patting his back losing good players.
I like what I'm hearing as far as this game is concerned. Four WR sets the whole game and a RB/TE outlet in case the blitz is coming.

agreed, the eagles GM is terrible. They have the worst WRs in the league. They refuse to go out and spend money to give donovan someone to throw to.

I would say the cheap owner tell the yes man GM what to spend. I think Betts and Trung had better work on blitz pick uos all weekand Ramsey and SS better work on screens and quick slants

Don't get caught up in the hype coming out of Philly. It does not matter who they put out there it's still a Eagle/Skins game and that means one thing. BRAWL!!! ......... It's a good thing Ramsey has been in a game with them in Philly. He knows what a hostile place it is.

I dunno. The Eagles ALWAYS seem to play us well (even when we were on top of the heap). This game could go either way. I am STILL trying to figure out our REDSKINS. IMO, the jury is still out. Is it just me, or is this team a couple of plays from being either 4-0 or 1-3?? This game (hopefully) will help us solidify our position in the NFC EAST and give us a better barometer of what kind of team we have. All I know is that we are 'better' than last years team.

WOW!! We all new Ramsey had it in him. I never though he would be as good as he has been so fast.
THANK GOD WE DIDN'T TRADE HIM TO THE BEARS FOR AN OFFENSIVE LINEMAN!!!! THAT WOULD HAVE JUST BEEN OFFENSIVE!!!

Someone mentioned it here before but I believe they have a cash flow problem and that is the reason they won't spend alot of money for players and are always so far under the cap. I've heard two people say this so far. One is a member of this board but I can't remember who and the other isn't.

Guys, don't worry about the BIrds. The Philly radio station is ultra negative just to rile the fans. Normal Birds fans ignore them. McNabb played a much better game last week than in the first two. Look for continued improvement. Our secondary is a problem, as VIncent does not look good for this week and it is unclear if Taylor will be back, but three of the four are first or second round picks, so the talent is there not the expirience. Ramsey has looked great one half and horrible the next. This is better than I expected at the start of the year. It will be a challange, but if we could handle Bledsoe, I am not overly concerned. Coles looks great as does Gardner. Those are two good weapons. Our WR's are not that bad, but the Birds spread the ball around, so you will not see them leading the league, but you will see some quality receptions.
This will be a good test for both teams but I have got to believe the Birds come out on top. By the way we have lots of salary cap room because we do not overpay for washed up veterans like some DC teams.

Let it be noted, though, that the Skins handed out no big checks to old guys this past offseason. Unless you consider Laveranues Coles [25 years of age] old.

Thanks Pennskinsfan. Sorry about the reception you got on our board. Unfortunatly our experience with other teams fans has not been very positive, but it looks like your board is pretty good. Not too much trash talking, but positive comments. After reading that long thread on our board, I can understand why you might have come away with a negative reaction, but a number of the posters are very sensitive about the board deteriorating as we have all migrated from a board that did just that. I will try to be a positive influence about the Birds here as we get such a bad (and really undeserved reputation from the media because we once booed Santa Claus (the guy was obviously drunk, an inferior Santa Claus who deserved to be booed.
Thanks again for the welcome.

Name the one's AFTER the '99-00 offseason. That was Snyder's first time in FA as a new owner. I think he's learned his lesson. I can't think of any not in their 20's since then.
Other fans wish they had an owner that spend money trying to improve his team.
By the way the Skins are also more than 2 million under this year and are looking to move future cap $$ into this year. Snyder has learned and is paying other well to help him out.

Spence, you clearly did a better job this year with your free agent signings. Coles was a great signing, although you overpaid, but as a restricted free agent you had to. Thomas I am not so sure about, but I have got to see him more before really commenting. Morton was a stretch, although he is a talented return man, do you really invest that much for a returner (you must really miss B Mitchell).
Our GM is Andy Reid. Joe Banner is the capologist. Lurie does not meddle in team affairs. The real issue is that the team does not believe in giving long term deals with big signing bonuses to players 30 or older. That is a great concept if you have the players to replace them when they inevitably go elsewhere in free agency. We are seeing what this could look like with Lito Sheppard and Sheldon Brown playing instead of Vincent and Taylor. Time will tell if this is the right move or not.

I dont think we overpaid for Coles. Coles is having an incredible season and is proving that he is not a one year guy like Peerless Price. Thank God we passed on him. Morton overpaid? So far i think so. he has quickness out of the backfield, they do not use him enough on dump passes or screens. That I will give you. Thomas overpaid? Redskisn have given up 15 sacks. Is it cause of the Line? is it cause of ARBs and TEs not blocking? Is it cause it is the nature of the Spurrier offense? I thinks its a combo. However, in foru games, Thomas has given up only one of those 15 sacks, playing a position that has been a plgue in DC for years. So have we overpaid him? So far, I don't believe.
The good and positive thing that has happened thus far is one of our weaknesses on Defense, is truning into a bright spot, and the is Safety. We are getting excellent play out of Matt Bowen and Infeanyi Ohalete. Were not generatign pass rush, but our DTs seem to be much better than i was expecting.

First off...welcome to hR.com...
Regardless if the Skins had to pay him well, since he was a restricted Free Agent...he has been worth every penny. He is currently #2 in the league in receiving...and has proven to be the crucial "go-to" guy every team desires.
Put Coles up against top receivers in Harrison (161 less yards than Coles) and Terrell Owens (165 less yards than Coles) and you will see how powerfull his play is.

Not last year. Eagles won both. You are thinking about 2001 when the Redskins beat us at the Vet 13-3. We have won 4 of last 5. I don't expect to win every game against the Skins, but I do expect to win this week :D

dj, I do agree that Coles was a great addition. However $35 million for 7 years with $13 million upfront is a ton of cash. You guys took a huge risk and so far you are getting your money's worth. Just hope he continues at this pace. That is Jerry Rice money after all.

Just hope he continues at this pace. That is Jerry Rice money after all. Consider Coles' youth and the deal looks just fine. If he gets hurt, it's a disaster. If he stays healthy, the Skins have a top receiver under contract for the forseeable future. No team ever got themselves into salary cap trouble by laying out a lot of dough for good players. It's paying the average ones like superstars that gets you into trouble.

McNabb spreads the ball around. Look for 7-8 guys with a catch. Thrash has been a great addition and Pinkston is starting to establish himself as a top flight receiver. We have continued our running back by committee approach, but in my mind I don't care who runs so long as we do it. Losses to Tampa and NE were due to ignoring the run and not throwing long passes. We did both against Buffalo and won. Hopefully we will continue the balanced offense and prevail.
Thanks for the welcome

I don't think Skaggs meant in terms of win/lose.
Ramsey played in the second game last year, here are his stats:
ATT 35
CMP 23 (65.7%)
YDS 213
TDs 3
INT 0
RAT 110.8
SKS 2
Not to shabby for a Rookie against a top notch defence in Dec. with no one near as good as Coles.

Well damn, we've got another decent Eagles fan on the board.... Where the hell are all these guys coming from? :D
Just ribbin' ya, Eags, I know that some of y'all are alright, you just get a bad rap from the fact that a lot of Philly fans are a bit... negatively exuberant. Yeah, that's a really PC-sounding way to put it.
Anyways, you're right on some counts there. Overpaying for Thomas, Coles, and Morton? Morton, definitely. He's good, but he's just a kick returner. Thomas, a bit, but if he plays up to expectations, he'll give us something we really need in Spurrier's offense, and the contract is pretty spread out. Coles... if he keeps playing at his superior, league-leading level, then I'd have to disagree here. He many never do what Moss did on Sunday and just outjump defenders in the end zone, but if he racks up more than 1,500 recieving yards, as he's on pace to do, he'll be one of the top four wide outs in the NFL, and then that money is justified. I'm entirely sure Owens, Moss, and Harrison will be getting similar deals the next time they sign a contract.
And, yes, McNabb does spread the ball around a lot, which makes it harder to point a finger at the Eagles' WRs. I wouldn't blame their offensive struggles on that position, though I'm sure htey could put up more points if they had a real stud there. Reid's great at creating a system where the ball gets to everyone. That's why he hasn't pushed for a big-time WR, actually. He doesn't want defenses to know where the ball will be thrown.

Welcome to hR eagles2000, glad you dropped by. I think you'll find that we have very knowledgeable members here who can provide in-depth analysis of the Redskins and football in general. As you can see, we welcome fans of other teams to our board and we like it when we're able to discuss football with them as long as they are courteous to our members and don't bring alot of smack talk with them. We're not as big as some other Skins boards out there but we pride ourselves on the community we've built here. One thing you'll find is that our mods are excellent at weeding out those who come here with the intention of trolling our board.
So once again, I say welcome to hailRedskins.com and let's get ready to rumble. I will not wish your team luck but I will wish that our teams play an injury free game.

We got you at home in 2000 also. Skins definately put up a fight in Philly. ....not sure why you expect to win this one but we'll see.
I think he was just saying Ramsey looked good against your secondary ( It was 3 TD's wasn't it )
Anyway these games are always close...how many have been decided by 7 or less? It's unbeleivable really. If the Skins win this one, it's going to be a rough road for Philly to the Playoffs.

Welcome Eagles2000. This will be a true test for both teams how well can your team match up with our 4 wide receiver sets and how will our LBs and DBs match up with all the secondary receivers the eagles have. I am confident that Champ will take away your Pinkston its the other guys like Thrash that I am a little worried about. All and all though I think we will come out on top this weekend. Throw out the record when these two teams play! Lets get it on!

Welcome Eagles2000.
I had a chance to visit your website, needless to say there seem to be alot of controversy about visitors coming into it. I did wish you all a good game but I will respect those who do not welcome outsiders and will not post any more. Tell JohnKruk, "Nice Try" but sometimes people don't like change.
PS. I sure hope that the "MD" in MDFAN stands for something other than Maryland.

By the way...I assume the radio station in philly that was mentioned was 610 WIP. I grew up listening to that station....
Some good personalities...some bad...but all in all, I wish DC had an "all local"-24 hour/day pure sports talk station like they did. I can't take listening to Rome and Mike/Mike in between our local coverage on 980am.

Patrick, sorry about your rough welcome to our board. If you check it out again you will see that the large majority of members welcomed fans of other teams who post well thought out commentary. As some background, we all started at a website hosted by the local Philly newspapers. There were a number of fans of other teams that made that board unpleasant (including a few Redskin fans). After they put some changes in that made the board difficult to use, we were fortunate to find the Philaphans board. We are tight group that gets together for an annual Phillies game, but that doesn't prevent us from turning on each other. You will find (if you come back) that you need a tough skin to post there as all posts are picked apart, including those favorable to the Eagles as a lot of the posters have strong opinions that our management is off course.
MDfan, which does stand for Maryland and not doctor, is one of the most stringent at posting his views. He and I have had battles in the past, but after meeting him last year, I have found him to be a very nice person, just one with strong opinions. Obviously he was taken aback, as was I initially at the thought of hundreds of Skins fans posting negative messages on the board.
I have gone back and posted what I feel are very positive responses to my messages here and have really enjoyed the back and forth. Please do not give up without trying a few more times. Realize that you will be insulted by a minority of people, but if you stick with us you will appreciate our level of in-depth posting.
The one thing I will notice is that your messages are pretty short. You will see that ours tend to run much longer, like this one. We do have a number of fans of other teams, Giants and Cowboys) that we tolerate because they bring well thought out arguements to support their positions. I think they will tell you that while they get frustrated sometimes with some responses, they have enjoyed the give and take.

dj the radio station has to be 610. I find I can only listen forf about half an hour to most of the idiots there. Yes they talk Phllly sports, but it is too negative. Angelo Cataldi was the idiot that sent 30 people to boo the drafting of McNabb. He thought that Ricky Williams should have been the pick, but that is no excuse. They just try and create controversy so people will call and listen. Howard Eskin does the afternoon spot and is the biggest egomaniac since Cosell. At times I am so hungry for football talk that I put up with it (some of the others are not bad., particuarly on the weekends and late at night when they are less concerned with creating controversy.)

Howard Eskin seems to root against the Philly teams...regardless of how good or bad they are.
I like Cataldi and Mike Missinelli. (spelling?) (It's been a while...and I only catch 610 shows when I visit the folks)
Regardless....Philly is lucky to have 24/7 local talk radio.
