Hey everyone,

As you know this past year my wife and I settled upon our first home. (praise GOD) While looking to move from our old neighborhood to our new one, I promised my kids that we would get adopt a dog once we become home owners. Well two weeks ago we went to the PG Animal Shelter and fell in love with one.

Her name will be Shi'An. (pronounced Shy Ann). She is a Shiba Inu
here is a picture of her:

to get a better look of how she looks, she looks just like the dog to the far right.

We are so excited, I will be taking my children to pick her up on this Friday. I've done alot of research on this particular breed and have visited her twice...so we are really exicted to have her in our home. She is a very fun loving dog. My Kids can't wait to have her. She is already housebroken and understands some commands already. I've never owned a dog before so it'll be pretty interesting ...pray for us that the transition will go smooth.

Very exciting, JTF! I've had 2 dogs now in my life, both came from shelters, and they were the best, most loving pets you could imagine. My current dog, Cooper, has the best disposition of any animal I've ever come across, so you should feel good about rescuing a dog.

Congrats on the home AND the dog! Keep us updated, and post some pictures once you get her home! :)

our middle dog is a shiba inu mox. I suggest HIGH fences lol, they can jump, or at least mine can

I had a mixed shepard/shiba back in the 80's and you are dead on about jumping. A 48" fence was nothing for her. Beautiful dog though.

Congrats on the new addition to your family. Having just lost the greatest dog in the World, I have a particular soft spot right now for dogs! And major points for getting a shelter dog too!
