Coach Steve Spurrier was interviewed the other day (sorry, but can't remember by whom), and he stated (paraphrasing):

THIS TEAM IS 3-1 AND WE HAVEN'T HIT OUR STRIDE YET. WE ARE STILL MAKING FAR TO MANY MISTAKES. ONCE WE GET TO WHERE WE ARE SUPPOSED TO BE, WE WILL BE IN GOOD SHAPE.

Man is this a comforting thought............that is, assuming that we actually stop making mistakes.

He didn't seem to be ONLY talking about penalties, but some of our newer players STILL trying to learn the playbook (WR Route Running, Audibles, Defensive Schemes, etc.). We are not the "well oiled machine" yet, but when we the players learn the system better and we stop shooting ourselves in the foot, we might be, well............SCARY!!!!!

I love Spurrier's attitude.

He takes full blame when doing bad...and he is humble when we do well. He is right...can you imagine what we would do if we actually played a game w/ zero stupid penalties...and we actually played the entire 60 minutes at full strength? Wow...

In the off season I thought the offense would have a lot of gliches with all new parts (QB, WRs, RBs, OGs). If we were lucky, I hoped the gliches might be ironed out by half season.

I think the performance is ahead of that schedule. The mind-farts though, are stil on that schedule. Hopefully that is*fingers crossed*.

I'm patient though, when it comes totally together we might be ready for a strong play-off push.

Yeah, and I'll take it a step further. Can you imagine our offense NEXT YEAR (when these guys have a full year under their belt). Taylor Jacobs (hopefully) will be healthy and quick as ever. Plus, with our aggressive FO, we can get ANOTHER COUPLE OF OFFENSIVE SPEED STUDS!!!! Could you imagine if we "upgraded" our #4 and #5 WR's as well as second-string QB? Man, could we do some damage!!

and every new person and rookie we bring in will have a large learning cruve. From what I understand and have read from ex-Redskins player, the play book is massive and the learning is huge in this offense.

I believe this is why they have been so high on Ramsey. He has the smarts to really run this.

I just hope that Ramsey will be a Redskin for life!!! Coles also. Man, you could really build an offense around them.

I read somewhere that Ramsey was very smart at Tulane.

I wonder what he scored on the "wonderlick test" i know it was higher than Ryan Leafs'

OH yeah! I think 2-4 years from now the window of opportunity wil be wide open. Arrington only played three years at Penn State, can you imagine him after 4 with the Redskins.

Ramsey, Coles, Samuels, Jansen, Arrington, Trotter, Bailey - we are truly building the foundation of a dyanasty. I would like to add one nut-buster of DT making Dalton the second best (wow!). And a maybe a center (with real good hearing! a-a-ahem). I think we're still waiting to see who emerges from the RBs, WRs & TEs. (on which we'll have to wait-n-see, doubtless some will work out/some won't)

I don't think we'll add any more offensive players this offseason. Look for us to add defensive players. We may add an OL or two. But not the athletic posititoins. JMOOC

Yeah, I think we're pretty much set on offense. I'd aim for a defensive upgrade too, mainly along the line. Let's beef that thing up and get ourselves a pass rush.

Definitely upgrade the defensive line, smith will be retiring. i dunno who will be free agents out there but building through the draft is the best answer, jansen, samuels, arrington, bailey, smooth, ramsey, dockery, gardner etc etc etc...... whats our draft situation looking like this year? do we have any picks?

I have my doubts about whether Gardner will be here next year, so I think it's possible we will add a Receiver next year, but I agree the focus will be on the D- Line.

Imagine if we could put two good halves of football together, we would kill teams...I'm holding out hope for us to put it all together by week 8 - 9. A 50 - 7 thumping of the Cowboys would be a beautiful thing.

thats the exciting part about this season and this team. we have been winning by 3 or 2 points but once this team gets everyone on the same page, we will be winning by at least 10-20 points agame. its also good to know that we can play with any team in the league. i love seeing our "weaknesses" turn into surprising strengths....(i personally wasnt worried about those positions, just was anxious to see how they would work out...so far so 3-1!)

Spurrier is a perfect manager, he takes the blame, give credit to the players, but say we can be better. Very good motivational process.

He is a good manager, and this week I hope he manages to find a way to crush the Iggles!

Let's see how this season plays out - we still have 12 games left.
