View Full Version : I think everyone should be cautious...

in giving the Eagles too much respect. I think the Redskins match up well with them, even if all of their starters play. Everyone knows the Eagles are tough and while noone expects the game to be a blowout, we should all believe that the skins will win.
The Redskins should win because they are the better team this year. Plain and simple in my opinion.

But this is a division game and seems records do not matter much or even who is the better team. Eagles are better than they are playing and I bet they step it up for us

i agree with the both of you. i think the skins can and will take advantage of all the injuries to philly and win this game but i also cant forget that the skins and eagles always play close games (except for the last year when the eagles spanked us). that good ol' cautious optimism is popping up again.

Giving the Eagles too much respect? I'm worried about us giving them too little respect.

I'm with Joe here. Remember, people still consider them and the Giants the teams to beat in the division.

Being 1-2 does not mean the Eagles season is over.
Because we are a division rivalry, and they plainly dislike us for being Washington Redskins, they will show up Sunday with there A game. We better have ours.
Should we respect them - Yes
Are we better than them - HELL YES!

I get really pumped up for the Iggles ... mainly because all my wife's family are lame-o eagles fans. I've had to listen to their crap for several years now and I feel this is our (my) chance for redemption!
I give the eagles much respect, but I agree that we match up well with them - however weird things happen in divisional games. 17 penalites cost us the Giants game and that was at home!!! I hope the noise doesn't cause more false start and stupid penalties this week ... hopefully the only noise will be the Iggles fan booing their own team.

Respect or not, this is going to be the kind of game John Madden salivaters over!
Knock down, dragg'em out, kick'em in the butt NFC East football.
The question is who, as a Team, has the guts to see it through and take victory?
IMHO - Redskins!

Until we show up against divisional teams and walk away with W's, we haven't proved anything. We usually are a better paper team than both the Eagles and Giants... but the record doesn't back that up.
I feel good about the game, but they have to go out and earn it before i can confidently say that we will win any division games.

I'm not saying the Eagles suck, its an easy game, or the Redskins are that great, but some people on this Board act like the Skins are playing the 85' Bears this weekend. IMO, it will not take a perfect game to beat the Eagles and, frankly, we as fans should expect them to win.
I can't believe I just said "frankly" in a sentence.

We are not sure what kind of team we have in Philly this year. If they play like they did weeks 1 &2 the Redskins will win. If we play like we did last week, the Birds should win a tough battle. If we play like we are capable of we should win by a larger margin. However, I think it is most likely the second scenario. The Eagles looked good, but not great against Buffalo. I see no reason to expect them to improve dramatically from last week. Expect them to be desperate as they know the season depends on us winning the next three games (we have Dallas and Giants next).
In August, I had this game as an easy win for Philly. It is clear that the Skins are a better team than I thought and this will not be an easy win. Unfortunately, Washington looks like a team on the rise (as does Dallas) and this will be a tough division to win with each team knocking the other off.

All I know is that this game will be a struggle. Heck, we "struggled" (to some respect) against the 0-4 Jets and the 1-3 Falcons. I still think we have a decent chance to come out on top, but it is not a gimme. On another note, so far, we have only had one common opponet (New England).....and we won and they lost! Hope that means something.

The one thing I would like to see is the NFC East become "The Division" again.

Well everyone loves to prop up the AFC East and right now the NFC east looks pretty good compared to it. Granted, Miami is probably the strongest, but the REAL east is starting to make a comback.

ABSOLUTELY CORRECT!
Can I get an Amen from the choir on this!
Those were the days - and can be again!

Still wouldn't call Miami the strongest, I see holes with them and that Houston game still bugs me, despite their two wins.

I don't think that Miami is that great, but Buffalo, Pats and Jets have so many holes that the Fins win by default IMO.

Yeah. Here we all were talking abotu the hell we were gonna go through playing the toughest division. Who would have ever thought that the AFC East would be come the NFL's Hospital of walking injuries.

I don't know how overestimating an opponent is a bad thing since for the last several years all we've done is underestimate lower opponents and lose. The entire NFC east salivates like Pavlov's dog when they play us no matter how bad they are they think they're still better than us. We have to start sending the message.

I suppose that as of right now, Miami wins by default due to Buffalo's loss of Travis Henry. When he comes back I expect better things from them. I could say the same thing about the Pats, but they have so many injuries that it doesn't seem fair to the Dolphins.

I think any way you shake it, the AFC east isn't the powerhouse the media was making it out to be. Even with Travis, who's averaging a gaudy 2.4 a carry or something, the Bills still do have some issues.
Miami isn't much better, but i'm looking for them to give Ricky the ball 40 times this week and pound the G-men for us.

will travis henry be back for the skins/bills game?
