Jack Kemp, 73, a star quarterback with the Buffalo Bills who became a spokesman for supply-side economics, a secretary of Housing and Urban Development and a candidate for high national office, died yesterday at his home in Bethesda.
He was a fantastic off-the-cuff speaker as well.

RIP. Great and overlooked politician who always stood on what he believed to be right, no matter how unpopular.

This has always been one of my favorite football photos. It's one of those "now THAT'S a badass" moments.

i met him around the pool at my local tennis club many years ago.. while he was not yet a cabinet member.. he and his entire family were there.. no security..just in town for some minor fund raising or speaking event
he was incredibly nice and down to earth.. the kind of guy you could have a beer with. yet, he was someone you were drawn to because he just seemed to pull you into conversations..you could tell he was used to being a leader and well respected by all around him
sorry he never rose beyond what he accomplished--even as significant as that was.. truly a gifted leader.
RIP

I met him twice when I was a kid. Once at a youth football game where his son was playing for the other team and then again a few years later when he visited the Silver Spring Boys Club. Stand up guy all around. RIP.
