And yikes...wishing someone harm? What did Jason do to you?
The FO didn't want him around so they made up some BS excuse about changing the workout language in his contract; despite not making the change for all of their players. Sure, Jason was hurt for most of last season, but even when he wasn't - Blatche made sure to use him incorrectly.
I'll bet Jason gets double digit sacks next year just to spite Blatche and our FO clowns.

Dolphins signed DE/OLB Jason Taylor to a one-year, $1.1 million contract. The deal includes a $400,000 signing bonus.
So the Dolphins get him back for real cheap and we hand them a 2nd round draft pick...solid.

dont forget they get next year's 6th too. I think JT wanted out of DC and back closer to home just as much as I think the FO's excuse was bs. I doubt he'll make more than an average impact and will be nothing more than a situational pass rusher. But even still the Dolphins fleeced us lol.

A lot of people laugh after dealing with our FO.
I hate the Tuna, but there is a reason teams come calling for him every time he is available. The same reason why no one came calling for Vinny when he was available.
This just stinks. During the draft, I was thinking about all the guys we could have drafted in the 2nd round if we had not made that stupid trade. And we have to give Tuna our 6th this year as well.
I would have picked LB Clint Sintim, plug him into SLB and perhaps have him rush from a down position on 3rd downs. Can be groomed in the Marcus Washington role, and allow Orakpo to concentrate on DE-you can never have too many good pass rushers.

That is assuming that you believe the Snyderrato version of events. I don't. I believe that we were going to cut Taylor unless he would take a pay cut to return. He of course said no, knowing that we would then cut him, which we did, making him free to go where he wants.
If Taylor thought that we would keep him and pay him his $8.5M salary, I am betting he would have said yes. He knew we wouldn't pay him that after his poor 2008 season.
That whole story about volunteering to pay him MORE money than the $8.5M contract called for just if he would work out here is complete and utter BS.
Vinny and Dan did not want to take the heat for their failed one-year rental, and so they concocted this story to make Taylor seem like the bad guy.
This is their M.O. - they do it time after time to make other people look bad and deflect blame from their own incompetence.
Examples-
FABRICATION: Steve Spagnuolo didn't refuse our offer to be Head Coach, he said that he did not feel he was ready to be a head coach yet. TRUTH: Spagnuolo refused our offer to be Head Coach, because he is a rising star and didn't want to tie his future to Dan and Vinny personnel ability. Funny how he got ready after one more year when the Rams and Billy Devaney came calling.
FABRICATION #1: Greg Williams dissed Joe Gibbs in the interviews, which is emblemetic of the arrogance that made us decide to go in another direction.
MORE LIKELY: Williams made it obvious in his interview that he wanted the job, but wanted to have a say in personnel over Danny and Vinny. That is a non-starter at Redskins Park. He refused to kiss either Dan or Vinny's but, and surprise, wasn't selected.
FABRICATION #2: And we were not the source of the leak of this information.
TRUTH: There were 3 people in the room, presumably: Snyder, Vinny and Williams-are we to believe that Williams leaked damaging information about himself?
FABRICATION #3: We don't traffic in leaks and anonymous sourcing, and Jason LaCanfora is an unethical journalist who no one should believe because he uses them.
FACT: Snyder and Vinny have been the sources for innumerable articles and stories without attribution. They have served as anonymous sources on stories that they wanted out there, but for political reasons do not want their names attached to. This is commonly done in sports, and in fact was used to cause the impeachment and resignation of a sitting president in 1974. Anyone ever heard of Deep Throat (no, not that one)!
And if you want concrete examples, see FABRICATIONS above. Those were all anonymous leaks from the FO. Criticizing LaCanfora or anybody else for this practice is the height of hypocrisy.
The dishonesty, hypocrisy and outright ineptitude of this FO never ceases to amaze me. Now Miami has the player and our picks, and we got 4 meaningless sacks out of it. This is one of the reasons why our FO continue to be a laughingstock around the league.

bottom line is that no matter how it is parsed, Taylor is getting about 7 million dollars LESS than if he had played here this year.
we tend to disbelieve anything that comes out of snyderrato, on the other hand a contract is a contract..Marty got paid his salary after being fired by snyder.. who knows what would have happened if Taylor had done what was asked ?
and, yes, this front office should not be allowed to trade with anyone.
they are a disaster waiting to happen.. hopefully after this year, snyder will fire Vinny and hire someone competent.. will it happen ? i doubt it.. but, as long as i choose to root for this team, i have to hope for the best outcome.

If anyone is dumb in this situation, it is our front office. They rented him for a year with a high monetary cost and draft picks as well. You've summarized the situation very succinctly. Our FO lost money, draft picks, face, and time for a longer range solution to get some work at DE. And bringing back a couple of aged retreads to fill roster spots at the position = insult on top of injury.

same as the niners in the lloyd trade
same as the falcons in the duckett trade
the pattern is the same every time. our lack of depth becomes a critical issue after an injury, or acute need surfaces and our front office immediately overreacts and overpays in a bad trade.
plus, they constantly overestimate our overall talent level and believe that simply adding one player is all that is needed to secure a trip to the SuperBowl.

This is just ridiculous. To people actually believe this crap. I rarely believe what comes out of Ashburn, but I am quite certain Snyder wasn't begging Taylor to stay on the team.
http://www.miamiherald.com/sports/football/miami-dolphins/story/1046965.html
Taylor accepted a bargain-rate contract to play for the Dolphins. He basically forced his way out of Washington this offseason and forfeited his $8.5 million salary in the process. Redskins owner Daniel Snyder flew to South Florida and met with Taylor at Joe's Stone Crab to try to convince the player to stay with the Redskins.
It didn't work.
''Look, if Jason was going to play it was going to be with Miami,'' agent Gary Wichard said. ``That's how he wanted it.''

With so much "spin" being put on this by the media and the members here at HR for all the speculative reasons, only JT and his agent know the truth. The only fact that stands out is that the Redskins had an injured, aging player who was misused in the defense. The Dolphins have that same player, back with them at a very low cost, plus a 2nd round draft pick!
CONCLUSION: Another indictment of the incompetence of GM Vincent Cerrato.

I don't think the league sees JT as an elite talent anymore. It took until after the draft to get a one year contract for barely over the league min. If he was an elite talent, he'd have gotten signed quickly for a fairly large contract.

Shally, I think you are missing the boat on this one. Jason Taylor's would NOT have made $8.5M if he had played here in 2009. Yes, he had a contract to play here in 2009 for that amount, but it was voidable at the team's sole option. The team cut Taylor rather than pay him that kind of money to play here in 2009.
Every contract in the NFL is really a series of one - year contracts with a team option. The team can cut the player virtually at any time for any reason. Because Taylor was in the last year of his deal, there wasn't even any salary cap charge for cutting him.
I am 99.99% confident that based upon his performance in 2008, and his poor fit in our system, we were not going to bring him back at his $8.5. contract price, even if he moved full-time into the weight room at Redskins Park an. I think we approached his agent about coming back at a reduced (albeit probably still very high) salary. His agent said no, knowing that would force the Skins into releasing Taylor so that he could have his freedom and preferably return to Miami.
We always had the option of bringing Taylor back at $8.5M.
If you think the reason is b/c Taylor refused to work out here this summer, then why aren't we cutting London Fletcher, McIntosh, etc., as csquared pointed out?
I think the dummies here are the team that gave up a 2nd rounder.

Elizabeth....Elizabeth....I'm coming to join you Elizabeth!!
So what do you say about Portis, Rocky, and Fletcher? They dont work out here either.
Bingo!
FABRICATION: We cut Taylor because he refused to work out here with his teammates.
FACT: We made a bad trade for an aging player who did not fit our scheme and whose natural position was already occupied by another player. We swore when we made the trade that he was more than a one-year rental. We cannot admit we made a mistake, so we will concoct this story about workouts and try to make Taylor look like the bad guy. Some people will believe it.
If memory serves me right; Jason didn't say he wouldn't work out in the offseason....he said he wouldn't allow his contract to be re-worked to include that stipulation- especially since the Redskins were using the excuse that all players had that stipulation. (which was false) And I highly doubt any Redskins got up in arms over this; considering many of them dont' have a similar stipulation.
Shawn Springs went 5 YEARS as a Redskin working out in Arizona, and the coaches loved him. The FO never once said (or leaked to the press) that Jason Taylor came to the team in bad shape last year, or that his conditioning contributed to him getting injured. He said he would work out religiously, but wanted to do it in Miami. There was no reason to doubt Taylor would come in this season in excellent condition and be ready to rumble.
What surprises me is everyone is surprised. Vinny is a fool, Parcells is a great football mind and Taylor will be used correctly and will have double digit sacks maybe make the probowl. Face it gang as long as Dan wants to stick his nose in the football operations and Vinny is #2 the Skins are the new Det. Lions.
