Welcome aboard, ArRiNgToN_56!
I agree that we need more of a pass rush...but I think it needs to come from our front 4 first....then from Arrington. I think he is better suited to roam...

Pass rush has sucked for years and nothing in the off-season was done to address that.
Welcome aboard Arr. Nice toi have you here and we look forward to your input and discussion

Well, to the Marvin critics I will say that LaVar did have 11 sacks last year.

Welcome aboard, Arrington. I'd like to see more of a pass rush and have thought Arrington would have to provide it. He hasn't really done a great job blitzing so far this year. The only one who seemed to be able to use Arrington as a quality pass-rusher in the NFL was Marvin Lewis.
I doubt we'll be blitzing Donovan McNabb much on Sunday. I would think the Skins will use Lavar as a spy on McNabb and just go with a normal pass rush. If you blitz McNabb and he gets past your pass rushers, he's taking it to the house. My guess is that the Skins defense will focus on containing McNabb. That is, keeping him inside the defensive ends and making sure he doesn't run riot.

For all the criticism Marvin Lewis has taken [including from Lavar himself], Lewis was the only one who was able to get consistent pass rush from Arrington. Lavar led all linebackers in sacks last year. That's pretty good. He never came close to that before and is not on pace to do so this year either.

This seems to be every teams intentions, only this year he has been some what quite. Lets hope we arent the first team to show the NFL what not to do against McNabb.

I think the reason why our Defense is so good at stopping 3rd down conversions is the simple fact that Lavar is NOT lining up in a pass-rush stance. Instead, he is given the ability to use his judgement to make crutcial plays in the mid-field. Lavar is best roaming the field. He has great instincts...so lets use them.
11 sacks from Lavar is great...but it in no way made us any better than we are now.

I agree he needs to roam around. I have seen him used on blitzes but he was picked up by a back. We need to apply more pressure from out dline and that will open up the linebackers blitzing.

Eleven sacks w/ D.Gardener and Wilkinson as tackles. Wilkinsons worthless but Gardener took up a lot of attention. How's he doing BTW?

I believe Gardener missed the first three games of the season [and the entire preseason] after breaking a hand during a fight in a restaurant. I think he played his first game of the season last week against Detroit.

Oops, I was wrong. Gardener missed last week's game, too. I read that Gardener could have come back so I thought he did. I guess Shanahan thought he could leave Gardener out another week and let him get even more healty because he was only playing the Lions last Sunday. [Almost got more than he bargained for when the Lions lost by only a field goal.]

Lavar's role last year was to get to the QB, which even HE admits that, sometimes he didn't understand. This year he's to key on the BALL, which makes alot more sense. Let him roam!!!
