sadly, i believe had lombardi lived, Sonny would have been an even greater QB..
Starr and lombardi thought alike and Starr was a more modest talent physically than Sonny.
i doubt that Sonny would have had the same astronomically large yardage records, but he wouldnt have needed to. they would have done great things together.

wow! what a year that was! Vince Lombardi and Ted Williams. Two GODs descended upon Washington in the same year. (Although, in retrospect, I think we would have been better off if we kept Gil Hodges.) For all those who hate Snyder, Bob Short was hated even more!
Thanks for posting.

correct about Short.. not too many people could have stooped lower than
the Griffiths for moving the Senators to Minnesota, but Short managed to do it..
and Hodges didnt live that long, i believe, after he left the Senators.. he had a heart attack and died early, sadly..

Are you two guys going to start going into you and your best girl could go to the movies, get two tickets and popcorn for a quarter -- and still have a nickel left for the trolley home lol?
:D

:DNo silly....The trolley stopped running in Washington years before that! But if you have some time, I can tell you how my dad took me out to Glen Echo on the trolley one last time before they shut it down.:)

That was a nice article. Loved that everyone was immediately on alert just with the notion that Lombardi was coming to town...loved all the quotes by the old school players

Man I can remember how excited I was when Lombardi came here and how very sad I was when he died. For me that will always be one of the sadest days in NFL and Redskins history.
