I saw a video of him when he was probably 370 and he had quick feet even then. If he is properly motivated, as it seems he is, this could turn out to be a real nice signing.

Tremendous motivation to lose that much weight; plus he hasn't been beat up on the lines for the last couple years. He could really have been a steal and part of the youth movement.
Can't wait to see him work in this line.

nothing against you for posting but sorry, although the story could be true.....cannot believe it coming from "AnyVinnie" and the any is for he'll tell us ANYTHING.
I'll wait for another source....

This is the kind of signing that can make a team a contender. No reason at all to have expectations and yet he has all the upside in the world. Looking good so far. Love the determination.

well it shows he's dedicated to giving this thing a real shot. I think he could be a good stop gap possibly to get us to the next tackle we draft high but not certain he's gonna be a good player. In Buff when healthy he wasn't exactly good.

This is great and all, but someone should tell him to stop soon or else we're gonna have to move him to WR.

This is awesome news but I want to see what he looks like. Too much weight loss will not be a good thing either if he's also giving up strength. Regardless 112 lbs in five months - WOW!

That's a ton of weight if it's true, but that's probably not healthy. The odds of it going straight back on if he slacks off are huge.

Vinny heard this from Heyer too. Of course, Heyer was out in Arizona with Williams, so I guess he'd know.

Heyer and Chris Samuels have also dropped fat and added lean muscle. Heyer has lost a lot of that belly he had. Not sure what those guys do out in Arizona but its working!!! If Williams is at 337 now, he'll likely drop a bit more by the time the season starts. it would be nice to have him around 315/320. Of course, I know this from my own struggles w/ weight - Taking it off is the easy part. Maintaining it is the hard part.

I wonder how accrutate those weight claims are. That's a ton of weight in a very short period. Then again, he might have been exceptionally inflated while out of football. He might have been able to drop 40-50 lbs by just changing his eating habits if he wanted to.
So, taking this at fact value, I say great. One down, one to go. He's shown that he can get into shape. Now he has to show that he still has the talent and intellect to stick on an NFL roster, let alone start at RT.

In Buffalo he was sporadic and everyone said it was due to lack of effort . . . plus his playing weight there was 365 - 370

i watched this as well last night. Vinny said they are doing some sort of program (heyer, samuels, williams and dockery)
Said Heyer was at around 370 last year and is now down to 322. Dockery has lost some weight and Samuels is down to 312 or something and his body fat % is at 18 or so.
Said they are packing 5 meals for the whole day to eat. And also said what is surprising him is that Williams is losing all this weight but is still hitting the gym daily lifting weights, because he had lost a lot of weight in his past before but lost his strength due to not lifting, but this time he is doing both.
Also said Samuels wife noted that samuels is walking around saying he is "hot" now because he has gotten in such good shape.

According to this most recent update in mid-July Mike was at 354, so this is plausible.

It seems like a lot of atheletes come to AZ to work out, even in the summer. Due to the diverse topography, temperature depends greatly on what part of the state they are in. Average July day is Phoenix (elev 1100) is 107; but 2 hours north in Flagstaff (elev 6900), the average July high temp is 82. Humidity is normally between 10%-40%, so even if they are down here in the Valley, 107 in AZ feels much better than 95 and humid back east.

One bowl of stewed prunes for breakfast and he could drop 20 easy.

There is no way he lost about 20 lbs in a week.
In AZ he only has to rehydrate after a workout that includes a post activity weigh-in. It is common for OL to lose 10-15 lbs in a game during the early season, which puts both the 350+ lbs and 337 lbs sightings as very possible. The question then is, when does Vinnie weigh him on camp arrival?

correct.. you want to avoid hydration being an issue, or taken into account

I would think that an offical weigh-in will be coming this Thursday.

This comes from the Post
The Skinny on Mike Williams's Weight Loss
In addition to our story on Jason Campbell today, we took a closer look at what will be another key story line of the season: the offensive line that must protect Campbell. One thing that might have caught your eye was Mike Williams's dramatic weight loss.
When he signed with the Redskins as a free agent, Williams weighed 410 pounds, and a lot of observers probably ruled him out as a serious contributor. But now that he's down to 342, coaches are even more curious to see what kind of impact he could have, especially because Stephon Heyer hasn't solidified himself as the starting right tackle.
Williams actually started the year weighing about 450 pounds. So in less than eight months, he's lost more than 100 pounds, including about 40 in the past 1½ months.
"I know it might sound unheard of, but it's doable," Williams said. "You just have to do it right."
Williams went to Ian Danney of Arizona-based Performance Enhancement Professionals in mid-June weighing 374 pounds (actually, Danney says 374; Williams says 365). He left six weeks later and got down as low as 337 pounds. But that was too low, and Williams actually intentionally put a bit of the weight back on. Ideally, he wants to take the field weighing 345.

This also comes from the post today. Sounds like the o-line is ready to roll.
Redskins Linemen Downsize For Bigger Results
Joe Bugel, the Redskins' offensive line coach, was in his office Monday morning when the team's melting glacier of a tackle appeared in the doorway. Mike Williams had weighed about 450 pounds at the start of this year. When the Redskins signed Williams to a free agent contract in April, he dented the scale at 410. Just three months later, on the eve of training camp, Williams said he weighs 342 pounds.
I almost fell on the floor when I saw him," Bugel said.
When players report to camp Thursday morning, Williams will be among a crew of shrunken linemen, their lean muscle mass replacing fatty tissue. Though not exactly ready for a Weight Watchers advertising campaign, four of the Redskins' offensive linemen worked out together in Arizona in a unique and demanding training program and will report to camp this week significantly trimmed down.

This could be interesting, if we were in any other division than the East. It seems that the other 3 teams in the division believe more in having mass up front. This seems like we are working more on technique and zone blocking, more so than shear force.

From the article in the post(i believe its been posted earlier) i am excited that Most of the Oline basically worked out together for the offseason and showed determination. Getting stoked for the season. Hopefully, this offseason built some comraderie between them, and will provide them some sort of innerstrength this season.

at this point, if he doesnt make the team, it will be on the basis of talent and ability , not his weight.

I'm interested in seeing what the darling of the off-season has to offer in terms of talent and ability. Let's see if he can use his svelte 340lbs to piledrive DEs into the ground in the run game and use his twinkle-toes to buy JC enough time to make throws.
I'd also like to see how mean he can be. I always liked that about Jansen at RT, and it seems to be a quality Heyer lacks.

I believe there were some quotes in the Washington Post from his trainer in AZ that said 342. 5 pounds isn't some huge swing for a guy that size. I swing about 3 pounds depending on hydration, food levels, etc and I only weigh about 215.

Hopefully ZORN knows how to manage his/Heyer Playing time.
You are gona want to find out how long he can go for. Play him a whole 1/2 or even a whole game.
Since he isnt in game shape yet, playing a few series here and there might not allow a full evaluation.
To only get 1/4 per game, might mislead the staff.

He's showed his desire, cut the fat, added muscle mass, seems highly motivated - now it all comes down to out-playing his competition. I've just got to think his chances are good, assuming he has no injury,
