We have no option but to try to solve this crisis peacefully. Firstly, the South Koreans would not support any war against North Korea that was not strictly defensive. Secondly, about 20 million people live in the 30 miles between Seoul, South Korea and the demilitarized zone. North Korean missiles can reach every single one of those millions of people. The casualty rates we'd be looking at in such a war are almost unimaginable.
North Korea was and is a much greater threat to national and world security than Iraq ever was. Even the Bush admin has not used force with North Korea, though. The reason: they know they cannot. We cannot fight a war on the peninsula without the support of the South Koreans and they won't support any war unless North Korea actually attacks first.
That leaves us with no option except negotiation.

can't trust anyone, so go with the hard line approach. i don't think a peaceful resolution is in the cards.

I think there is always a chance at peace and it must be allowed. I agree N korea is much larger threat than Iraq ever was.

Exactly Spence. Why do you think Bush attacked Iraq and not N. Korea? He knew they had no weapons of mass destruction.
