This is a mild surprise:
Barring last-minute changes, there figures to be one surprising development with the inactive list: Rookie defensive end Jeremy Jarmon is expected to be active instead of veteran end Renaldo Wynn.

I had been predicting that Blache would select Wynn to be active over a "rookie". Not to beat a dead horse, but why is Wynn on the team again?

I like youth getting the playing time. This will be very interesting to watch. Lots of hope!!!

Good. Jarmon really flashed some talent in preseason and Wynn looked like the same Wynn we saw here before. Makes me wonder if Wynn was kept around just for his clubhouse leadership.

Probably because hes great in the locker room, OR they are getting the audibles and inside info about the Giants DL for the first week.
Either reason does not warrant a spot on the team taken from someone else that could possibly help us. Glad to see Jarmon getting the nod...we dumped Jansen, bridges, and now Jarmon in for Wynn.

I actually think Dixon should have been kept instead of Wynn. They still kept 10 OL.

Exactly. Wynn being on the roster is little more than welfare.

If this is true, then this is a good move. Jarmon flashed in preseason, so I would like to see what the kid has when the real bullets start flying...hopefully we get that chance!!

outstanding !!
maybe, wynn eventually gets released if we need another OL player after game 1 ?
for sure, if Jarmon proves to be effective, there is no need to keep Wynn

awesome news. jarmon has knack for getting his hand up and batting down passes and has a great motor.
wynn will be gone at some point for dixon(cut when vick returns) or jackson anyway imo

I hope jarmon comes in and is effective, especially sack wise, because that's what will change this defense to good from great

I like the idea of having Jarmon active over Wynn.
The fact that Wynn would be inactive again raises the question why he was kept on the 53 roster. He is CLAIM-PROOF. No team will claim him. So, he would only be a phone call away for the next game, just as he would be now from the inactive list.
And, this stuff about veteran leadership is crap. That only works when the veteran can still play and is respected by the other players. When someone (like Wynn)is obviously no longer effective and makes the team over a more deserving younger player, he actually negatively impacts upon the chemistry of the team because of the resentment that would be created.

I would go a step further and say that veteran leadership only matters on a winner. Leadership by veterans on a losing or mediocre squad points to the need for new veterans.

totally agree.. it shows there is little accountability, if veterans are kept even though they are part of the reason the team is losing

Jarmon got some pressure the one time I saw him rush.

I didnt understand the defensive rotation today at all. At one point, Jarmon, Golston, Alexander and Reed Doughty were all on the field at the SAME TIME. Was that a personnel grouping that any of us discussed during the preseason?
Whatever happened to lining up your best 11 and riding with them for the whole game?
