View Full Version : What will Skins Record Be At The Bye Week?

OK, we are currently 0-1, but we play basically the bottom of the barrel for the next 5 weeks and then the Eagles before the buy week.
For Reference, we are currently Ranked 16th.
Next 6 Games
-----------------------------
St. Louis (Ranked 32) Home
Detroit (Ranked 30) Away
Tampa (Ranked 29th) Home
Carolina (Ranked 25th) Away
Kansas City (Ranked 28th) Home
Eagles (Ranked 4th) Home - Monday Night
I optomistically perdict 6-1, I think a couple will be too close for comfort, but we should win all the gimmes. If we can stay healthy I think we can hold our own with the Eagles. We have matched up pretty well with them the last few years. If we want any chance for a playoff spot, we need atleast 5-2 by the break, because the second half of the season will be grueling.

As is the case in the NFL - it usually comes down to health. If we're healthy and the other team isn't we'll win.
Having said that - I see us at 4-3 or 3-4 at the break. This team has mediocrity written all over it so we should hover around .500 until injuries start piling up.

I'm going to say 5-2...MEGA HOMER-ISTICALLY OPTIMISTIC. That's my heart talking.
My brain is telling me we will be 3-4.
So, I'll draw the line in the middle and say we'll be 4-3. that's my Official guess.

Every week is Buy Week at FedEx Field! :D
We should honestly win all of the next 5 games and go into the bye week 5-2. But, we're the kind of team that loses a few to teams whom they never should, while winning a couple against teams whom we shouldn't.
I figure we go 3-2 over those 5 and lose to Philly. That makes up 3-3. Add in the loss to the Gints, and we go into the bye week 3-4.

Funny but with this team you never know. I could see us at 0-7 or 6-1 and anywhere in between. The skins have talent - it's all about confidence, health and execution at this point.

It's very, very hard to tell much of anything about a team after 1 week. Not only because you've only seen the one game, but you've also only seen them against one team that you know just as little about. Never read too much into week 1. Is Carolina really bad enough to be compared to teams like Detroit? And if so, then is Philly really as good as they looked?
My point is that, uh, this is hard question. I'll say we'll have a winning record. 5-2 is probably fair. I'll happily take 6-1, though.

I agree. The Redskins are probably one of the toughest teams to predict victories. We play up or down to our opponent, and every game is close. We could go undefeated, or we could go winless. So, I'll say we'll play .500 ball, with one surprising victory and one complete let down of a defeat.

The Skins have fairly easy matchup s the next three weeks. I expect them to be consensus favorites for all three. Carolina may give us some fits...and so will Philly, but we should be able to beat KC.
If this team isn't 4-3 at the bye, I'll be royaly pissed at the missing the opportunity to beat the teams you are supposed to beat. That will mean a ton of pressure on the team to come up with miracle wins against better teams later in the year.
If we have a losing record at the bye, I'd like to see Zorn go bye-bye.

what we should do is lose no more than 2 more games (Carolina and Philly) but what we WILL do is lose at least 3 of the next 6.. that will leave us at 3-4,
and we will be in last place, but still within reach of a playoff spot if we get our act together.. we wont, and i dont see us winning more than 5 games this season

exactly.. this is a team that has to demonstrate it can beat teams that are it's equal at home, and beat opponents who are weaker on the road.
year in and year out we lose to crappy teams AT HOME.. that is the first hurdle that the team must clear to be a consistent winner.. i will wait until i see evidence of actual improvement...talk about winning is cheap..

if not 5-1 going into philly then you can write em off for playoffs, a loss to the one dimensional pussycats would be disgraceful
best case 6-1.. worst case 4-3, so ill go 5-2

that is EXACTLY the type of team that has gotten "well" against us in years past.. if you want a solid measuring stick to judge how far we have come this year, look no further than that game..

Just goes to show just how much pressure will be placed on this game. The Skins have a tendency to give away easy wins at home. Last season it was the Rams (deja vu?), the season before it was the Bills (heartbreaker) and 2 seasons before that was the Oakland nightmare.

I'm gonna go with 3-4. I know it's early, but I don't foresee the team playing with the fire/passion needed to win. I also envision the coaching(or lack thereof) costing us a couple games along the way. Heck, I could see 2-5 and a interim coach come bye week!!!

Based on just what our Redskins showed us last week and the overall dim light under which I view the team I come up with 4 wins, 3 losses at the bye.
I think we beat the Rams something along the lines of 26-16 at home, solid win but nothing to write home about.
Big win at the Lions aprox. 28-13! As Jansen looks like an oddity in an Lions uni!:)
At home vs the Bucs, Skins get a big head and lose by an F.G.! As they come out dull and get involved with another one of those classic SHOULDA-WOULDA-COULDA's, while not his complete fault Jason starts hearing the BOO'S from the home crowd:devil2:!!!! Tampa 20 Skins 17 F.
Skins coming off of yet another big letdown at home no less, stink it up in Carolina as by this time John Fox and Jake start to straighten out their season, Skins lose to the tune of 30-21!
Think the team wins vs K.C. more by default than anything 20-14 F
Brings us to the Philly game in Washington, Total toss-up in my mind, Skins with half their minds on the bye week get a way, plus at present we have no Idea which Q.B. or how many we face that week, means total down to the wire game! Blood and Guts just the way NFC EAST games are meant to be played! Skins win in O.T.! Mark it down!
What I find and feel is the true make or break game follows the bye at Atlanta, why? I dunno just has the feel of last years Pittsburgh game to me.
Win it and good things are possible, fail and it's 1/2 way to a new Coach and Q.B.!!!!!
4 and 3 at the bye with so much hinging on the Falcons game.

That's just it. There shouldn't BE any pressure. The Redskins are a most talented team from on every position on the field right down to the groundskeeper. The problem is that the Redskins play down the the level of their opponents every week.
Gauging a football team is pretty easy. You pretty much fall into one of 3 categories:
1) If you lose to the teams you're supposed to and also find a way to lose to the teams you should beat, you're a bad team.
2) If you can beat the good teams about half the time but still find a way to lost to bad teams half the time, you're a mediocre team.
3) If you beat the good teams more often than not and rarely lose to the teams you're supposed to beat, you're a good team.
The Redskins ain't a 3. There are only about 6 or 8 teams in the league that fit that bill. So, the battle for this team to decide is whether they will end up a 1 or a 2.
This team was a 2 last year. They can be a 3 by simply beating the teams they're *supposed* to beat. That can and should start this Sunday.

I think Moss answered what kind of team the skins were last year when he said after the Cincy game that "we should be able to BS and beat a team like this."
The ultimate problem with this team is coaching(and that has a lot to do with The Danny and the Vinny). Thats why they look spastic on the field. They have enough talent to hang in there with any non SB contenders, but the coaching is so inept that they have enough brain farts and slow adjustments per game to lose to anyone.

Slow adjustments...more like no adjustments :) This team is so damn frustrating. It would be much easier to handle if we had a group of crappy players but we don't. And we've seen that this team can dig deep and play well (when they feel like it), but most of the time it seems they just amble around like a bunch of fudgers who don't give a damn. At least thats the way it seems to me...no fire
And why don't we ever stick with what works? If the defense is bringing some heat and it works we immediately go away from it. If the offense is clicking in the shotgun or whatever is working...we go away from it.
I've had a bit to drink so I may be rambling but honestly anything worse than 5-2 is unacceptable.

How would one feel if the coaches clearly didn't trust the team to execute their schemes, therefore playing very conservatively and without in-game adjustments? IMO if the opponent were rated superior then some grudging acceptance may happen, but where the opponent is clearly inferior but the calls are still conservative IMO the players would turn off. This is one (major) reason behind playing down to opponents. If dumped upon enough the players will turn off to management and their schemes, and become uncaring/sloppy in execution. Sound familiar? Where player pride is involved (playing a superior opponent) then this will take over and the team will respond, but where the opponent is weak they turn off.
Even so I think the D is so improved that we will find it difficult to lose to any team in that stretch, except the Eagles. Maybe it will happen once (KC?). So 4-3 on our way to the second 1/2 slaughter.

The ownership, coaching and QB will be their downfall. The old and aging offensive line will start to feel the effects by mid season. Injuries and fatigue will set in.
3-4 at best

if we dont beat teams like the Rams and Lions, you can bet we wont be beating the Cowboys or Eagles.. there wont be 8 wins if we dont take care of business at home against inferior teams
