As some of you know, my father is a charter boat captain out of Chesapeake Beach, MD. Since Isabel came through, the fishing has changed a bit, so since my father has a charter on Saturday (10/4), his first since Isabel, he went down to the marina to talk to some captains how the fish were doing and where they are.

As he pulls into the parking lot, one of the boats was unloading their fish. So, he walks up to the captain (a friend of his) and talks to him and some of the people who were on the boat. He is talking to this African-American man that was very nice and sat and talked to my fahter for about 10 min.

My father was not sure at first who he was talking to, until he took off his hat. That man was Darrell Green.

Yes, our very own Mr. Green was out fishing today with about 9 friends of his on the Chesapeake Bay. My father said that he was very nice, smiling, and was open to everyone who stopped by to talk. My father (who is 6'1" tall) said " He is a short little fellow. He looked taller on TV when playing for the Skins." I laughed and told him that "Not all football players are as big as houses."

That made my fathers day meeting Darrell and yes he knows where the fish are at for tomorrow.

Darrell Green told him so.

I got to meet Darrell a few times at Carlisle, once he was running around in his VW bug ( an old one) and people were closing in on him and he yelled to watch out this old thing does not have brakes.

No, he did not ask for one. He is not the type of person that goes around getting people's autographs. He thought about getting one for me, but he thought that since the man is out fishing with friends that day, it wasen't his place to ask.

Darell did ask for my father's card so he can call him next spring to go out with him to fish. I told my dad that if he books a charter with Darrell, that I am going to be his first mate that day. :D

skinsfan44, what part of the Bay does your dad fish in? Is it up near Baltimore or down closer to DC area?

I use to patroll the Inner Harbour of Baltimore out to Rock Hall. And up to Kent Narrows and down to the Bay bridge in Annaopolis. Our AOR [area of responsibility] also included Chestertown, Md.

The part that he fishes in is what they call the Middle Bay. Yes, it is nearer DC. He goes as far north as the Bay Bridge and as far south as Cove Point, down by the Calvert Cliffs Power Plant. He goes east, up Eastern Bay to Kent Narrows and the Choptank River.

Hail2Skins, they cought Rockfish, also known as Stripped Bass.
