This has been around a while now... just interested in what others think. Any ideas on how you could win the money?
If you graduated from highschool in the last 30 years you were taught this theory... therefore you must have SOME opinion on it.
Go ahead and pull up a chair all of you closet intellects and give it a try here... I promise to be nice.

His offer is a sham, but a clever one. By demanding that someone prove evolution is the ONLY way the universe came into being and came to be as it is now, he essentially demands people disprove the existence of God. That's what he is after. That is manifestly impossible.
For myself, I find the whole God v. evolution battle very odd. I don't see the conflict. Most Christians I know have no problem believing in both. What if God existed and created a universal system of creation known as evolution. Then sat back and watched things happen? This theory became very popular with Enlightenment Christians and was usually known as the Clockwork Theory. Essentially, the universe is a big clock and God created it. He put in all the parts and then wound the clock up. The clock took off and God, in his spare moments, observes the results.
This belief obviously clashes with those who take a literal interpretation of the Bible and those who believe God intervenes in the world on a regular basis. [For example, football players, who insist that a 47 yard punt downed on the 2-yard line must have been the work of Jesus.]

The conflict is obvious. The "Christian-Evolutionsits" have basically done what everyone in the secular world has done... attempt to take our limited scientific knowledge and apply it to biblical text to try and merge the two.
The truth in the matter is that evolutionsist firmly believe that God does not exist. The Christian-evolution angle is rare and very limited in it's proof. It came about in the 1800's in reaction to further scientific advancement... despite the fact that the scientific findings were later found to be false and a total guess.
There is NO proof that evolution in ANY form is true at all... therefore, the Christian-evolution answer is without merit.
There are only really two answers... either it all came about by chance... or by design... either way it leads to bigger decisions for everyone.
The very fact that so few have responded to this shows we really don't fully believe what the public schools and universities are teaching as "fact". Sort of makes you wonder what else they "teach".
Spence - your analysis of someone who takes the Bible literally and believes God intervenes in life is slanted at best. I believe that way and yet dont list a football game as an act of Jesus at all. In fact... I cannot see how anyone who claims to read the Bible more than once a year can believe that God just "wound us up and lets us tick".

And yet... that is EXACTLY what our kids are being taught in tax-suppoorted schools and colleges.
Guess they dont see it as impossible.

Skinz, we've had this debate before, I think. I'm not prepared to hash it out again. I know where you stand. I think you know where I stand. The two shall not meet. C'est la vie.

I do fully believe the bible and evolution can co-exist. Here is why. While God was making the heavens and earth it took him 6 days. 1- we don't know how long a "GOD'S" day is, but 2- who is to say he didn't speed the process up to have millions of years of evolution evolve in 6 days? If he's powerful enough to create us all, he's powerful enough to speed up the process right?
I can not, nor will not believe we were an accident. I believe if anything, evolution is the proof of a God. There is NO WAY all this came about by accident. ONE HUMAN is too complicated to be an accident, never mind the millions of creatures each specifically designed for whatever. It's completely too far fetched for it all to be an accident. Besides, even if you can somehow fathom a total ramdom world, where do the rocks from the "big bang" theory come from.
I don't think God cares how we think the earth was made, as long as we know He made it. He left us clues on how our earth was formed, but I think he'd be upset if we tried to discredit Him as the maker. (actually I am fairly certain he'd be upset.)
My only crutch to the theory is how adam and eve fall into this. I can't answer it, but again, if He was to speed everything up then slow it down when he made adam and eve, then so be it. Or maybe he purposely created the evolution chain, but then decided He wanted to make the very first humans with the evolutionary chain. I don't know...that's a question for him. It's entirely possible we are not from apes. There doesn't seem to be 100% concrete proof of that like there is about the evolution of our planet.
I do find it laughable that people try to "disprove" God. Why would you even take the time to do such a thing? It can't possibly hurt you to believe in Him, but it could possibly hurt you not to. So why would anyone want to take the road that couldn't possibly help you in ANY way? doesn't make sense to me.

Explain how evolution created a woman if the bible is also right. Why? Cause here is how woman was created.
20 The man gave names to all cattle, and to the birds of the air, and to every beast of the field; but for the man there was not found a helper fit for him. 21 So the LORD God caused a deep sleep to fall upon the man, and while he slept took one of his ribs and closed up its place with flesh; 22 and the rib which the LORD God had taken from the man he made into a woman and brought her to the man. 23 Then the man said, "This at last is bone of my bones and flesh of my flesh; she shall be called Woman, because she was taken out of Man."
Woman was obviously not created out of evolution unless you can grow out of a rib.

Not that I nomally do, but I'll side with the Pope on this one, who insists that evolution is a fact which does not preempt Catholic teachings. Could you imagine if Catholic Universities did not embrace the theory of evolution?

My friend sent me the truth about women in a mass email. I'll try to repeat it best I can...
God offered Adam something called a "Woman". God's sales pitch was right on...
"She will always clean up after you"
"She will always allow you to hold the remote"
"She will always service you as you need it"
"She will always do your laundry"
"She will never wreck your car"
"She will always have a hot cooked meal ready for you"
and so on...
After a few minutes of this, Adam replied "Sounds great God! How much will it cost me?"
God answered "This is the top of the line model... an arm and a leg"
Adam thought about it for a few minutes and asked "what can I get for a rib?"
And the rest is history...
:D  :D

I can't answer it. My basic point is that the planet's evolution can easily mesh with the bible. Even evolution says that there is link missing from Apes to Humans. So it's entirely possible we are not from apes. My whole point is that it doesn't matter as long as we believe God made it.

Hmmm, haven't posted in this forum in months....
I guess it all depends on if you take the Bible literally. If you do, well, good luck with the onslaught. If you don't, lots of comprimises can be made. Like, for instance, that Adam and Eve never really actually existed, but were just a metaphorical tale used to illustrate the beginning of the world in more human terms.

Hmmm... Let me see, God is powerful enough to create Human Life and everything else in the world, but just not powerful enough to do it the way it is told in the Bible..... right?
