View Full Version : Interesting post written at the time of Zorn's hire.

While reading Bill Simmons on ESPN.com I came across this link to a blog post written by Tim Kawakami (the guy who got into it with the wacky Raider P.R. guy last year) at the time of Zorn's hiring. Does this seem prophetic or what? He pretty much predicted all of the complaints we have now.

Snyder likes big names. Zorn was already in the house as the offensive coordinator. (Love the Fassel quotes to Clark Judge on CBSsportsline.com–they’ve hired Zorn to do three things he’s never done: coordinate an offense, call plays and be a head coach.)

The Zorn I talked to was over-emotional, antsy, defensive and very short on the ability to communicate general NFL knowledge–and I was just doing a soft story on the Seahawks during the off-season, so it wasn’t like I was plumbing the depths of intricate analysis.

So, what, you're surprised that our owner didn't do his due diligence lol? He never does. He gets fixated like a cat looking at a squirrel out the window.

I'm not suprised by Danny Boys actions. What got me was the mention of Zorn's areas of weakness which have been proven true.

But it begs the question, what the heck are they doing when they interview candidates for hours and hours. Remember some candidates even slept in the guest house for two day interviews.

In many respects, we are the strangest team in the NFL.

Honestly, I think it's a matter of 2 days worth of Danny spoiling the candidates, acting like a big shot and drowing them in the kool aid. It's effectively high pressure recruiting. I also think they want to find out if the guy they hire will be their buddy in all of this, as well. Hence, all of the chumming around.

We are the Raider of the east coast. I just can't see how you don't look at the teams that are consistently competitive and try to emulate how they do things. Instead, his ego is as such to where he thinks he can do it his way and be successful. It's insanity. He's the Kanye West of owners....do busy admiring the smell of his own farts to realize that he's nuttier than Chinese chicken salad. He's done the same thing year in and year out to similar results. After a friggin' decade, you'd figure he'd get a clue........A raging clue......

I have often wondered how an interview could take two days.

Thats only because the squirrel knows how to run both left AND right :)

I believe Vinny shoved Zorn down Danny's throat. Vinny is the GM and Zorn should be all on him. If this combo doesn't work, I would hope Danny would be a competent owner and clean house.

Just read the Michael interview, and Danny loves Zorn. So don't expect any change from a guy that is so unheeding of both public and profesional advice and concerns.

Sounds like one, perhaps two other people I know...
