"The more I can do, is stop putting them in one-on-one situations. If I'm putting them in a situation that they can't win, that's not good coaching. If they can't win that one-on-one, what I need to do is not put them in the one-on-one. That's why it ultimately comes back to us."

If he is talking about our coverage, doesn't exactly inspire confidence in our secondary and sounds like Blache is back to defending soft zones and cushions. $@#%$%$!!!
If he is talking about our D-line, what the h*ll did we spend all that money for?
And if he is talking about Orakpo not being able to cover a TE, well DUH!

That quote really makes it sound like Blache believes that no corner can cover a reciever 1 on 1. Apparently man coverage is an outdated scheme that no longer works in the NFL, who knew?

The problem is when you don't have a pass rush. If you rush the passer so he doesn't have time to find a receiver, that gives the DBs a better chance to cover the Wr. If you leave them on an island for along time, due to lack of pass rush, thats when you get burnt. Blanche defense doesn't show any creativity to disguise or execute a blitz or consistant pass rush.

Who will rid the skins of this meddlesome defensive coordinator?

Deion in his prime couldn't cover a receiver 1 on 1 for the length of time the Skins give opposing QB's to find an open man.

If this truly came out of his mouth, then Danny Boy should have fired him on the spot for incompetence. This defense will never, I repeat never, be as good as its individual talent with Blache running it.

When you don't believe in rushing the passer, it's pretty tough for man coverage to work

Great point. Someone should bring the issue of his defense not generating any pressure again (3.0 sacks in 3 games doesn't cut it). Of, course, he'd just yell at them again, but someone should stand up to the bully on this one.

Its not just sacks, but the skins aren't even getting a lot of hits on the QB this year, much less a lot of hurries. Despite spending all that money on Haynesworth and Orakpo, the pass rush seems to be moving backwards from last year.

See what happens when you play Orakpo on the line full time instead of 20 yards from the QB??? Blache is a idiot. He is going to be more of a Maverick. Has he beening talking to Tom Cruise? Or maybe Danny brought him in the office to watch Top Gun with him and Vinny.

Never happen with both Vinny and Dan, didn't they practically beg him to return when he thought about retiring a few years back? I may have that story wrong but kinda recall reading that.
These two have set TOO much faith in both Blache and Bugel that that is why we field an one man offensive line (Chris) and a one man defensive line (Albert) of note, just how the hell can we expect to realy win games?

I mention sacks because, unlike hurries or knockdowns, they're easy to find statistics that are less subjective. But you're right, no pressure makes it very difficult for anyone to cover a receiver. It also tires out your defense and leads to (surprise!) the worst 3rd down efficiency on defense in the league (51%).
But I guess the Blache defenders can always point to the fact that the defense is 7th in points allowed.

Blache takes pride in stopping the rush. That may be fine, but we are a passing league now. The rules favor protecting the QB and tossing the ball around.

I believe you are right. I know that it won't happen. I was just dreaming. If we fired every executive/coach for incompetence then Vinny would be first out the door. I KNOW that will NEVER happen. :smash:

I agree with Blache...with him as the DC, we can't cover one on one. He won't allow his front 7 to pay aggressive enough to make it happen. He plays guys out of position, he plays it safe and predictable and on the rare occasion he dials something up our secondary sems to think they're playing flag football and the stunt gets picked up.

Okay. Now he is saying he was bluffing when he said he was going to be a "maverick." Who's running this *$@%%$$ team!
''I mean, it was just one of those things: Look, we're at a point in the season where ... we had to stand up,'' said defensive coordinator Greg Blache, who gave his players an unusually emotional Saturday night speech. ''We had to change. We had to draw a line in the dirt.''
Publicly, Blache had promised a ''riverboat gambler'' and ''maverick'' approach to the defense this week, but he said he didn't blitz or take any more chances than usual.
''Sometimes,'' he said, ''you just make 'em think it. You put the clothes on and look the part.''

carolina might be a better test that way.. they are really floundering, but have the capacity to score points and can be explosive.. let's see how healthy they get against us..

According to me we can't cover one-on-one, two-on-one, three-on-one......basically our coverage has pretty much sucked this year.
