if he caught half the balls that hit him in the chest.
his technique on todays interception was strangely familiar. i couldn't quite put my finger on it, until i remembered i have a 2 year old daughter. her gleeful eyes-closed giggle aside, her blind swatting as the ball bounces off her chest is eerily reminiscent of vintage carlos rogers.

LOL! I said the EXACT same thing to my brother on the phone after he dropped another pick. I told him he'd probably be the highest paid CB in the league right now if he wouldve made all the plays he has had the chance to make.

Honestly, I played the game here in the UK for five years when the game was in it's infancy and I learned how to catch the ball every way possible by pure repetition. We even practiced with wet balls, given the weather we often played in. I went through 4 years playing both ways without dropping a pass or pick. If I could learn technique then Carlos sure as hell can improve his.
Carlos should be fined for every ball he drops in game and in practice.

YEAH..."If"...
and If this were 1991...they would have beat down Tampa 45 - 0 and our QB wouldn't even be dirty...

I've never seen a corner have so many dropped INT's week after week in my lifetime. The guy is seriously cursed. He makes Rod Gardner look amazing.

I was going to be sad when they let him go after this year but he hasn't been very good overall since DeAngelo got here and obviously he can't catch a football.

Where Gardner was 50/50, Rogers is more like 10/90 that he will make an interception.

I'll say this for Carlos: he's probably the hardest hitting guy in our secondary. When he lays all out to drill a guy, he usually gets him. Landry, on the other hand, is a joke when he tries to make a highlight reel hit.

10/90 is overrating him. I'm going to go 2/98. 2 for the number of career INT's he has, 98 for the # of passes he's dropped.

It really is amazing how Carlos Rogers drops every single ball that hits him right in the chest. I mean, it truely takes effort to drop everything. It's not like he's being asked to make a miraculous catch. These balls are lightly fluttering his way, and he can't catch any of them. Not a single one.

Just like they found a problem with Doughty's hearing, they should have Rogers' eyes checked.

I would say its funny but its not. He's killing us with the drops. we have a chance to swing the momentum of a game and then stonehands blows it. Its disgusting.

JC and Carlos. My Auburn first rounders who were going to restore the Redskins to NFL glory, are gone after this season. I have to wrap my head around that concept for a moment. :(

I have never seen anything like it. You would think that it would be one of those things where you have an obvious weakness and decide to dedicate a lot of practice time to fixing it. So, either he doesn't care or it is just something that is so unnatural for him that it can never be fixed... Shaq's free throws as an example. How could someone be around football for so long and be so awkward with the ball used to play the game? Amazing.

especially if tryon looks to be no worse than a #3 corner.. barnes needs a year to learn the pro game, and we will draft another corner some time next draft..

I can't believe that after watching these guys for nearly 5 years that it hits you like a ton of bricks that they're not doing very well.

As Ed McMahon would say: Hey--oooo!!
But seriously, he's blowing "game changers," which is what interceptions are in some way or another. So you have coaches burying their heads in their hands in the film room when they watch the replay. Time's up, Carlos.

Well when Carlos was drafted I believe the top 3 corners were Pacman, Rolle, and Carlos. Rolle is the only one that's going to warrant $$$, I'm just glad we didn't go with Pacman......

+1....thank GOD he's not a reciever....WOW....he is rediculous....do you know how many games he could hve changed had he caught the ball even half the time?...most of his drops come with no one but green in front, that's what makes it even worse....LOL

It makes to much sense, like using Sellers in short yardage....He's only a 250lb bulldozer, which is worthless in those situations!

I'd love to surgically implant D Hall's hands on Rogers.
We'd have one of the best CB's in the league.

I agree with sellars....but line mason next to C. Johnson, T. Choice or
F. Jones...that's the kind of speed we need....i don't think mason could beat Deangelo Williams...IMO....

Of course, it doesn't help when they keep trying to run him on the edges when Portis is more suited to go up the freakin middle.

Rogers has taken a serious step back this year. He used to provide great coverage even though he couldn't intercept it. Now, he is letting scrubs beat him regularly. He is useless at this point.

I know that Rogers has gotten his hands on a lot of balls over the years, but no one else thinks his coverage skills have deteriorated since the half way point of last year? Robinson torched him good against St. Louis and Bryant Johnson toasted him so more at the Lions. He also had coverage on yeterday's TD.

Here's a quick story - (bear with me, this does relate to Carlos Rogers) So my friends and I played flag football a few weekends ago. We're all pretty good athletes (compared to the average joe) - except one guy. He simply cannot catch the ball to save his life. Over his head, in his chest, at his hands, doesn't matter, he can't catch. I threw the ball at him several times in warmup and his attempts to cactch the ball - I mean his technique, if you can call it that - looked just like CRog's. He would try to catch it in front of his chest, with his fingertips but it looked like the ball has a hot potato or something. I saw the same thing in Carlos Rogers when I saw his drop replayed. It's as if CRog isn't coordinated enough to make a catch. He looks like a lanky uncoordinated 14 year old when he tries to catch a ball. It's baffling because CRog simply couldn't have gotten to this level w/o having pretty decent hand/eye coordination. My only other idea is that it's some sort of mental block he just can't get past. When you look at DHall make a pick, it looks fluid, natural, effortless. It's really a thing of beauty. CRog freaks out when a ball comes near him lol. I don't remember much from his days at Auburn. Did he have many drops or picks in College?
I won't label CRog a bust but he's not playing up to #9 overall pick status. If he wonders why he's not getting a big new contract or even an extension, he just needs to be show tape of his drops.
I guess the "pushup" punishment in camp didn't work lol.

I think his instincts are good. He's always around the ball in position to make a play. He just doesn't have that extra swagger to take a calculated risk, and win, that a good CB has. His coverage skills have definitely gone down though...but I think alot of it is due to the dropsies and lack of confidence.

When he cries about his new contract (which he will at some point this year)..Not only should they show tapes of his many drops, but they also need to give him the overall circumstance and how much that pick would and could have changed the game.....for every drop...take 700,000 off the contract.
For every game changing drop, take 2.0 mil off, coupled with how long it took him to come around to be a solid CB, -7 mil off,
....lets see that means carlos's new deal will be 4 years = 15 mil....w 6 up front...it think its fair...
