Today both Devin & Malcolm were MIA, so that tells you that the two wideouts are not going to produce if they can't catch a pass against the lowly bucs.
Marko Mitchell needs to play ASAP as in this next game against the panthers...oh did anyone see Brandon Marshall destroy the Dallas cowgirls secondary in one play...Marko might be that player he just needs the chance.

I agree not sure what Thomas did but kelly was dismal, he can't get open and provide a target for the qb at all. when they were isolating the wr's Kelly was blanketed.

Agreed. Get Mitchell in the game. Kelly and Thomas shouldn't get field time to piss away just because of their draft position. Rewarding performance is the other side of the accountability coin.

Come on fella's. Playing a skilled, tall receiver with good hands isn't the kind of talent we want to put on the field. Remember, Synder/Zorn want players who scream mediocrity. Talented players are either cut or sent to Siberia.

In my mind Thomas just sucks........I see lesser known receivers like Eddie Royal catching 90+ freaking balls last year as a rookie?! He's still a threat this year. With Moss garnering most of the attention it should be easy for someone to step up. Someone named Mike Sims-Walker is blowing up....Where the hell did he come from?? If someone were to offer one second rounder for both Kelly and Thomas right now I'd do it.....Heck, if they threw in a 5th I'd package Davis as well.

IMO Kelly needs to use his body more as a WR, and his passes need to be where he can make on a play to catch it, not break up an INT. He doesn't need to beat defenders by 2-3 steps. He just needs 1 step, and a decently thrown ball.
I agree that Thomas should be demoted. Send a message to the team. Its time to see what Mitchell can do.

There was a time when receivers took like three years to develop...guess that doesn't happen now. Eddie Royal looks like crap this year with Orton throwing him the ball. He looked great when Cutler was there, now he has disappeared. I understand that we need some help on offense, but I think its the guy throwing the ball and calling the plays, more than the WRs. ARE didn't get a catch either, and he hasn't done crap since the first game. Mitchell looked real good in PS but that was against backups with Collins and Whathisname throwing to him. We should deactivate Moss and Cooley and force JC to throw it to someone else!

Leave Thomas active and de activate ARE. ARE blows at returning punts and has basically been a ghost since week one in the passing game. Let Thomas return punts and kicks.
Let Mitchell get in and get some reps he can't be worse than ARE,Kelly or Thomas.
It's time to let the young guys play and see if they are worth keeping or dumping at the end of the season. Mitchell,Kelly and Thomas will only get better being on the field and balling.

Agree. And while I am not defending JC's bad passes sometimes a WR has to do more on a deep ball than just watch it get picked.
I'd give Marko reps in practice and consider it... But the reality is that someone needs to step up! None of the WRs did anything to help a struggling QB in the first half.

I don't think "stepping up" much matters to these coaches. Otherwise, Jarmon would be starting and Daniels would be getting AARP discounts at the Stuckeys.

I agree, give Marko a shot. Kelly and Thomas can't get separation.
And can someone please teach these guys how/when to run a freakin slant? I thought slants were kind of important in the west coast offense.

Got to agree with that. The only reason I am tepid about benching thomas is that there simply haven't been many passes thrown his way. Is that because of the offense in general or because he can't get open/can't run routes? I don't know. But at some point if he doesn't produce I want to see mitchell in there. I also am not against benching ARE who hasn't done much since game 1. Should we consider putting kelly in the slot?

I think it boils down to Jason still not being comfortable w/ Kelly/Thomas. That and the fact that they can't seem to get open.
I agree though, Make Rock/ARE inactive and lets see what Marko/Alridge can do.

Marko Mitchell scares the chit out of Zorn. Can you imagine for one second if Mitchell turns into an every down WR? How could Zorn take the heat for a undrafted WR starting over his very own two 2nd round draft picks not playing?
Same goes to Snyderretto as well. They all would have egg on their face.

Why Thomas is not back there returning KO is beyond my meager ability to comprehend.

I thought Marko was a 7th rounder.

He could be. But still. A 7th rounder starting when his two 2nd rounders aren't? Just as embarrassing.

As a coach, you've got to put that crap aside. Maybe he's getting pressure from above, which is more likely since it's more embarassing for Snyderrato that they screwed the pooch on at least 2, if not 3 of those 2nd rounders.

i think coaches / FO would look good, not bad, for finding a 7th round diamond. i doubt that's a huge worry.
but i agree with the main point. devin thomas has *ONE* catch this season. it's not like marko mitchell could do worse!

Free Marko Mitchell!
I need to make a T Shirt for sale at the next game. If Danny is using games to get paid, why shouldn't I?

Hey why not...and whilst you are at it, there are a couple more T-shirt ideas that just might work...
"Cut Betts/Cartwright...WHY ARE THEY STILL HERE?"
"Fire Vinny/Free The Fans"
"Dan, throw yourself at Bill Polian, and then get out of the way!"
"Dan...we deserve better than this!"
"Hey Greg, how's that #4 Defense?"
Hey this is fun!

yeah give him a chance. Kelly isn't the wide out that they hoped for, but how much of that is campbell being inaccurate? Thomas never makes any catches worth noting. The FO really blew it last year by not getting OL but instead drafting bums that shouldn't have been drafted in the first place. It was not a great WR draft imo. They need something to change. Throw the big guy in there...least he can catch a fade pass.

if we had drafted Colston, he probably will STILL be inactive for us...

Im all for seeing what any of our young guys have to offer...especially Marko. I think as the season progresses we'll see some guys get some pt...but only because I expect us to be bad down the stretch. We have talent and hopefully a new coaching staff (with some actual experience) can cut the fat and mold the youth while making smart cost effective decisions...I know, I know ;)

At this point, I wouldn't be opposed to almost any line up changes.
Is anyone else as bored with this team as I am? The whole team feels like dead man walking to me. Obviously, the coach and QB are not coming back and those are the two most important pieces to the franchise. I just have no juice for this team right now. Maybe if they get to 4-2, I'll feel differently.

Why Thomas is not back there returning KO is beyond my meager ability to comprehend.Same reason you never see him run a stop and go down the field...because we don't put people into situations that suit them...we let slow RBs return kicks, fast WRs run hooks, slow WRs run deep! Kelly was brought in here to be the possession reciever and send him deep...Thomas here to stretch the field and and use him in the short yardage. And we won't use our Big Giant FB to get 1 yard!

I agree with just about everyone...Put Marko Mitchell in and make him play..a lot!
Moss has had his brief shinning moment, he is due to take the next few games off if history is any guideline! AREFell needs to find a warm spot on the bench and we need a body who can run more than 50 yards in a circle and only net 2 yards forward gain!

No doubt. Initially I thought the coaches might just be overthinking themselves with the whole misdirection thing. Then I thought that it was a matter of them trying to force square pegs into round holes as an ego thing. Now I realize that they're just incompetent and have no idea who to play how and where.

+1. Change for change sake is foolish. If change is tied to accountability then it is good - it gets the attention of the player that there is no entitlement at this level. If Someone dogs it or can';t run a route feed players in and out until you find someone who fits and does the job. Will MM be better than DT? Can't be worse. Is DT a better option than ARE for punt returns? Don't know but lets find out. Changes made because the player being demoted isn't doing the job are good; chqange for change sake is bad.

Its funny how Zorn makes Blache look like a maverick. Blache will play his young guys but Zorn acts as if there needs to be 4 years of seasonining before he tries implementing his young skill guys into the gameplan and he and Vinny has the nerve to say the guys are getting better. lol
we re-sign Aldridge for change of pace and boom Zorn can't figure out a way to just see for one game hell one play if he could be an asset on the field. he plays Thomas a couple plays every week and never throws to him, Kelly starts but ARE might as well because kelly can't get open running the deep routes at all with his lack of quickness and speed.
Zorn is terrible anyone who doesn't see this is blinded. Mitchell shows some acumen to do the thing we need in the Redzone but Zorn doesn't trust him enough to give him a shot.
But whats funny Zorn seems to be giving Blache pointers defensively I wonder does he take suggestions about the offense from anyone. He needs to.
