The idea is simple: draft a team (for example, Pujols, Manny, Cuddyer, Ellsbury, etc), the team with the most home runs in the playoffs wins. We need 3 more teams for a 6 team league. We'll hold the draft as soon as we have all 6 players. The draft will be held in this thread (so for example, I'll post my pick, then akh will post his, then Ali will post his). The draft must be finished by the start of games tomorrow at 2:30 so don't join if you can't commit to a quick draft which starts tonight, but may have to finish up tomorrow during the day. The draft is ongoing so you can pick as soon as the player before you does.
Various odds and ends:
1) For the sake of time, I'll put the names in a hat as soon as we have the league filled out and I'll randomly determine the draft order (if you don't trust me to do this fairly, too bad, don't join).
2) All rounds of the playoffs count. For example, if the Cardinals lose in the first round Pujols' home runs for that round count, but he obviously can't hit more. However, if the Angels go to the world series all of Vlad's home runs count. Draft accordingly. (Note: results from tonight's play-in game do not count towards league results.)
3) I will post the drafted teams and update the home run totals in this thread daily.
4) The draft will have 8 rounds, snake style.
5) No trading, obviously. You draft a team and let the home runs accumulate.
5') No disabled list. Injuries are bad luck and hopefully the rest of your team is good enough to compensate.
5'') No free agent pick-ups. Once again, you draft a team and that's it.
6) Because of the possibility of a tie. There will be a supplemental one-round pitchers draft. You draft any pitcher and that pitcher's win total in the playoffs is the tie-breaker. The person who picked first in the regular draft will pick last in the supplemental, and visa versa.
6') The second tie-breaker will be the total number of stolen bases for your team.
7) The third tie-breaker will be nothing. You have to share the title.
8) Winner gets bragging rights and they are great bragging rights, indeed.
