Against my better judgement (lol), I'm headed out to Charlottesville on Saturday for UVA's homecoming game against Indiana. Some friends and I are tailgating ahead of time and I'm having a hard time trying to come up with a good grilling recipe for the game.
The guys I'm rolling with are all pretty good cooks so I'd like to go off the burgers/brats/hotdogs trail...
Any suggestions?

What kind of grill are you using? If you have a grill large enough and with the capability for indirect cooking, I would recommend smoky BBQ turkey legs or good old, beer can chickens.
If using a smaller grill, skewers of all kinds are always good. I prefer to skewer meats and vegetables separately, for even cooking, rather than mixing them up. When cooked, unskewer meat and veggies onto a pita round, throw a dab of cucumber sauce on, fold like a taco or gyro and enjoy.
Some good Oktoberfest beer to wash everything down.

Paging Smoak, you're needed in the Apache Forum.
I don't think you can ever go wrong with chorizo. If you have a latino market, get some Argentinian and buy the little baguettes there too. It's easy and tasty.

I'm using one of the Weber Q-grills; portable, yet fairly decent sized grilling surface. Although probably not tall enough for beer-can-chicken.
Rich - I like the idea of skewers. (especially separating meat from veggies. why didn't I think of that sooner!) I typically marinate my beef cubes in greek yogurt, shallots, garlic and then make a sauce similar to the cucumber one you mentioned. Fantastic idea, especially with the pitas.
Dave - just so happens that I have 4 fresh links of chorizo in my fridge right now! ( I used them on Tuesday for a stuffed poblano filling) My options are endless with chorizo.
I'm still open to any further suggetions; but thanks for sharing Dave and Rich!
