but
neither mason nor alridge had anything to offer at this point
if healthy, Jones represents a big step up from both heyer and williams

One has to think that if Levi pans out then Heyer (Not Mike Williams) will be sent to the bench.
Heyer has been downright terrible all season and didnt play better than Williams in the past 2 weeks. Since neither is going to keep the QB upright, you might as well take the one who can run block. Its quite obvious that Zorn does not run to any side that Heyer is playing on.

Having read the above posts above it is clear that these signings will not change the apathetic anger much. Only firing vinnie will start to appease the fan base at this point. But as with Jones, snyder will wait until after the season so whomever will not have a chance to evaluate personnel or have in place a scouting staff that has focused on the draft. This just keeps getting worse.

These moves are the desperate mental masturbation of an incompetent vice president of operations. These moves make NO Sense! How much more of this insane butchering of the franchise will the fan base tolerate?
We have a castrated "head coach" whose carcass is hanging on the edge of the grave. We have an apathetic defensive coordinator. We are burdened with the ego-maniacal owner who deludes himself into thinking he can be the savior of a once proud NFL team. Sad ~
I will watch every week, if only to be witness to the historical demise of a once proud NFL Team.
(At least a few years back, this message board was filled with threads and posts about each weeks game... now it is immersed in the frustration, impotence and sorrow of the fan base.)

Hall isn't worth $50M or whatever he's getting, but he's still a starting caliber CB. He's better than everyone except for maybe Rogers. When you count that he has 3 picks already in 6 games, which is half of Roger's career total of 6 picks in 56 games, it makes you wonder if he's not the best CB on the team.
If Levi Jones can come in at some point and start effectively at either OT position, I'll be pleased. If Samuels comes back next year, then OT is set. In any case, we'll be drafting OT in the first 2 rounds next year. Maybe in each of the first 2 rounds lol.

Samuels MAY come back next year, or he may not.. but, his long term prognosis is POOR.. this is not going to go away and eventually will end his career.. the team needs to plan to get at least 1 more starting quality tackle, either through the draft or via free agency.
a quality reserve would also be a good thing to develop

Just frustrating because i couldn't imagine how we didn't bolster our oline depth with actual talent before the season starts. I think it would have made a huge difference. It is just the perfect example of what is wrong with this team. You have to be more proactive about this kind of stuff.

there were clearly guys out there who could have helped us (Jason Brown comes to mind) and we could have gone with Jones instead of Williams. Having a guy like Clark was a big time error. Heyer has not progressed at all. Dumping Jansen wasnt a bad idea, but replacing him with Heyer was...
in retrospect, we would have been better off keeping kendall and not signing dockery, who has done little to justify his return
maybe if Jones settles in, we can move M Williams to guard, where he might actually have a future ???

That's only half of the hurricane with these clowns. They fail to plan, so they plan to fail.
To continue the metaphor, the other half that particular hurricane is the overkill and discoordinated overcompensation that follows the storm lol. In many ways, it's worse than the initial storm and makes cleanup impossible.
For reasons of sensitivity, I won't post the obvious analogy but I think folks might get the drift where my thoughts are headed with that one.

Yeah we wasted roster spots on obviously talentless players like batsiste. We don't put enough value on good depth. Heyer should have always stayed at his natural position, LT. When you have a project player like heyer you shouldn't be moving him around twice a season. Let him master a position first. I am open to seeing williams at either RG or RT, he is still a big question mark in my mind but he is doing better than I expected.

At his best at OG, Mike Williams is a low talent Dockery imo. Can't pass block, struggles with any blitzers(run or pass).
Even if Jones isn't washed up, he's not a long term answer, but they should have signed him back in June to avoid Heyer playing any significant time.

I will watch every week, if only to be witness to the historical demise of a once proud NFL Team.
(At least a few years back, this message board was filled with threads and posts about each weeks game... now it is immersed in the frustration, impotence and sorrow of the fan base.)
+1. We have given up on the "team" because this group of coaches and players have proven incapable of overcomming the complete inwsanity we call a fo. So why post about players and games? The outcomes are all too predictable.

my guess is there gonna tell us he's a promising 3rd down back with pass catching abilities ... as well as a special teams performer
Isn't Portis mad at Sellers and isn't this "player" a FB among other things?

At his best at OG, Mike Williams is a low talent Dockery imo. Can't pass block, struggles with any blitzers(run or pass).
Even if Jones isn't washed up, he's not a long term answer, but they should have signed him back in June to avoid Heyer playing any significant time.
i think with another offseason, MWilliams could turn out to be a better LG than Dockery, who has TOTALLY underwhelmed me with his performance.
Kendall was, and is, a better player
