View Full Version : How do we beat the Bucs?

They rush the passer better than the Eagles, and have a much better secondary than the one we played today. Expect Blitzing on every play. Ramsey may have trouble staying in the game.

We need to have some sort of running game next week or it will be a long day.

Run the ball. That's pretty much the only formula.

During practice we kick Samuels/Jansen in the balls for everytime the false started and then have them never do it again under penalty of death

Rush the ball with a bruiser like Carolina did w/ Stephen Davis.

Wait a minute....we don't have a bruiser!!!!! I guess a balanced attack, Mistake/penalty free football, and solid defense will have to suffice.

Mistake/penalty free football. You don't ask for much do you.

Play them in Golf!

That secondary will kill the pasing game. (Phillies back-ups did)
That D-line will kill the o-line & Ramsey (unless the o-line plays like they have not played this year?)

If the D has a big game & the O plays it real conservative. Even then they'd have to cut the penalties (something they have yet to do) and cut the turn-overs (something they haven't done the majority of the games). I don't see it happening - it would have to be an unprecedented break out game.

I say hand the ball to Betts up the gut.

Spurrier need to refocus his play calling. Since week one when we beat the Jets with the run, every week we seem to fade more and more and more away form the run game, and I just don't get that. We know, we absolutely 100% know we will be blitzed by theBucs, so start it out running,, running, and running. Quick screens, short dumps running, running, and running.

Hard to see how the Skins realistically win the Tampa game. They cannot run it the way the Panthers can. They need to get lucky. Very, very lucky. That's how they win.

I agree... can someone please find ONE person in the entire country who didn't expect us to throw against Philly... and so that is exactly what we did... 50 times.

Talk about expectations.

I say run the wide receiver screen 100 times until they stop it. Left side, right side, right side, left side.

BigCountry

They'll stop it everytime. TGhe Bucs don't blitz that much and that allows their lb's to be all over the place.

I'd be surprised they send more than 4 next week and cover the rest of the field. They'll get pressure w/ just those guys. Rice should have Ramsey in Arlington hospital by the 2nd qtr.

I really can't see us moving the ball on this defense. We might have a shot if we can hold their offense.

C'mon folks, Turner moved the ball on Tampa before. You don't think Spurrier can do it?

The key to beating Tampa is patience.

Score a Defensive TD and shut out the offense

The bucs really don't blitz that much, but they get hella pressure from their front four. Of course now that the blitz is spurriers kryptonite, that may change. we need to kill them with screens to the RB's / recievers, draw's and counters, and work the sidelines w/ big physical recievers like DMC, Rod and maybe Taylor Jacobs. Tampa is a quick defense so the way you beat them is to get them going one direction then switch it up on them.
Lav coles on a reverse might work if our guards can pull and block effectively. It's deffinitley possible to beat them with the team we have, it's just gonna be hard. I think our D can stiffle just about anyone if they are on their game. I'm not worried about Brad and MEshawn or that wife beater guy they have.

How dowe beat the Bucs, speed. Coles should be all over the place with routes. Mismatches with Gardner and McCants should help. A tE that can cathc consistently would help. No false starts and no personal penalties!! A heavy dose of Ladell will help. Make them defend the run all day!!

i think we can move the ball on tampa. i think we can move the ball on anyone except we always seem to go backwards at some point. like others have said, tampa doesnt blitz much, but they get pressure with their fat guys up front. it will be speed versus speed. rice on samuels will be the matchup to look for this sunday. i hope chris can make up for all those false starts. the 2ndary IMO is not that talented but the front seven makes them look good. we HAVE to run the ball and keep tampa's defense on the field. i think our defense can definitely hold their offense to 10-13 points if we dont give them good field position like we did against philly. i think spurrier may try to play it safe like he did against NE so i think this game will come down to a GW FG.....good thing we are at home.

Oh Geez-us Samuels will get murdered by Rice. I just realized Samuels hasn't faced any above avg DE the entire season and he's been schooled for the most part. Rice burns everybody. Ramsey better get rid of the ball quick next week.

Samuels faced John abraham of the Jets and got smoked 2 x's for a sack. I hope he's learned to defend the speed rush.

We need to run the ball with Betts, learn how to pick up a blitz and possibly stop audibelizing all the time.

Alright, the offense that's possibly the most similar to ours in the NFL was just pretty much shut down for 56 minutes and then went nuts for four. The lesson? Other than hope for a lot of penalties and a few injuries on their side, the hurry-up offense is definitely something to look at this week.

Watching the beginning of the Tampa - Indy game last night I thought the same about no-huddle. No huddle should be used in practice all week. This could be our "new" weapon against the Iggles. This also might force the O-Line to concentrate a little more and decrease the false starts. I was hoping Tampa would dominate last night (for the entire game) so we could catch them sleeping this Sunday. Now they're angry, hopefully, our guys are angry and want to prove to everyone they're a good football team. We can be a very good football team. HAIL!!!

P.S. The more Ramsey audibles now the more he learns. I say keep audibling and all these penalties will work themselves out with better concentration. I was thinking about mailing a dozen earplugs for the O-Line to use in practice. I just might do that.

Welcome to hR Smilack, glad to have you aboard with us.

I hope we can find a way to run the ball up the gut. Run right at Sapp and don't stop because if they stop it at first. Don't worry I won't ask for no penalties as I know better

If we see 5+ screen plays we will not win this game. The screen and all short passes play into the absolute strength of the Bucs defense. In order to win we will need to get 80 yards out of the running game and Ramsey time to throw the ball down field.

The Eagles have a similiar defense as the Bucs and you saw how well the short passing plays worked there.

That's pretty much the way I see it. If the defense has a big enough game & the offense can just not mess up. A good horoscope might put us over the top.

Chad Morton has to be like Dante Hall (or the Okalhoma guy) and return like 3 kick/punts for TD.

Lake, you're right that screens play into the strength of the Bucs, but the Eagles defense is very different.

Problem: Beat the Bucs
Answer:
1. Patrick Ramsey yell LOUDER.
2. The O-line needs to maintain discipline.
3. Patrick needs to pull down the ball a few times and take off with it.
4. Defensive pressure.
5. Tight man to man coverages.
6. Big plays on special teams... ie. (getting the ball inside the 20 yd ln on kicks and punts; big returns for good field position )
7. Score more points!

HOW DO WE WIN? We dont. Tampa is the hardest team left on the schedule. We eat t his loss and then let a rip through the schedule.

Im just hoping we can leave the game with Patrick Ramsey still having his limbs

That's the real danger with the protection problems. We are playing russian roulette with Ramsey. And then we can kiss the season good bye.

Still waiting for a big return from Morton. If our recievers can catch the ball, we will win. Oh yeah, and give our offense a chance. The false starts will decrease. The tripping penalties, illegal blocks and taunting calls will kill an otherwise good drive.

Morton has gotten progressively better returning kickoffs the past 3 weeks.

Versus the Giants, he averaged kick returns to the 26
Versus the Pats, he averaged kick returns to the 28
Versus the Eagles, he averaged kick returns to the 32

That is pretty damn good. I'd love to see our offense start past the 30 on every kickoff. I remember last year, we continually started behind our own 20 frequently.

I agree 100%. I'd just like to see a TD on special teams. In any game we've played it would have either put the game out of reach or won the game.

I think we beat Tampa through the air. Manning and Harrison really exposed their DB's Monday night. The yards on the ground will be tough to come by I think, but, once again, it all comes back to protecting Ramsey. Sometimes he has plenty of time to throw and other times it's like there's nobody in front of him. The line just has to be more consistant, and the penalties...THE PENALTIES!

We need this game bad. The Skins are 1 - 2 in the Conference and the playoffs usually come down to one thing...TIEBREAKERS.

Redbeard

I'll buy that. The WRs need to bounce back & have a big day or we're toast. But heck, we'll need to be firing on all cylinders to get this one - it's just one of those games.
