FROM THE RICH TIMES
"I told Donovan after this game," Spurrier said, "that I was sorry he had to go through all that stuff."
It might be time for Spurrier to address the same remark to Ramsey.
Steve Spurrier has got to make adjustments and realize that Patrick Ramsey can not continue to take the abuse dished out week after week. New plays, new protective schemes, something has to be done. This kid is full of guts and poise, his leadership is simply inspiring, but man, how much more can he take.
For those of you won't want to lat all the blame on Mr. Ramsey, let remember how young he is, the abuse he has taken, the hits he gets, and the soreness and injuries he is playign with, all to help this team win. Imagine the possibilities if Ramsey had at least "decent" protection. We all knew we woudl have to go through some bad moments with Patrick because he is so young, if this is as bad as it gets, I'll take it, cause the kid fought back hard and almost pulled otu an amazing comeback. If this is the struggle time for Ram, I will take it because I think each and everyone of us would not still eb standing with the abuse and punishment he takes in and our, week to week.

I completely agree. His body does have a limit of how far it can physically go before he can no longer will to go on. We need to block. We need to give Patrick a game where the only time he leaves his feet is to sit on the bench after a touchdown drive.

Excellent post Mark. I agree, Patrick is one tough SOB but lets not prove it every freakin week. We are going to beat this kid half to death. We to keep a blocking TE in more oruse Rock as a blocking TE.. something has got to be done
Yea Ram overthrew Coles for the 2 pointer but we would never have had the chance if it were not for Ramsey coming to life and getting us that TD anyway. We knew Philly was going to blitz and do it often but yet we acted as if it was some new form of defense

That's why I did not like some of Spurrier's answers in his press conference. You can help this kid by simplifying things. Use max protection. Minimize the number of routes being run. Do something or this kid's career will be over after the season if he makes it that far.

Agreed. What's the use of sending out all those receivers if the Ram doesn't have the time to get them the ball. Gibbs used to use maximum protection and let the posse get open. With the receivers the skins have, they have that ability. BTW-how did the rbs block in this one, didn't get to see first half. Things need to be simplified. Come on, the eagles secondary was decimated and still the skins couldn't take advantage of it-something's not right here.

Well, I noticed that Morton was in to help with the blitz on occassion. Only problem with that is that he was alone and his size does not benefit him in that situation

I agree that our wideouts should be slick enough to get open downfield while leaving in both a TE & back to protect. I know everyone wants options galore, but hey, Ramsey hit punch drunk every game should take precedent over fully realizing the complexities of Spurrier's system.

I'm not going to go completely arm-chair coach here ... but I do wonder why they don't trust the #1 and #2 WRs to work on the secondary and get open with the typical dump outlet as a emergency out ... why do they need to use so many 3 - 5 receiver plays ... honestly ... who is going to completely blanket Coles and Gardner for 5 to 6 seconds? If the Skins used more players to block for the QB ... couldn't Coles/Gardner/McCants get open? I seriously think that most of the time they could ... at least one of them could ... maybe its time to trust the quality of the WRs and use the backs and TEs to block for the passer.

Sonny and Sam gave Morton a ration of crap about not blocking anyone on that sack ... but the replay showed that Morton did pick up a blitzer

Yes he did. The Eagles sent two guys from that same side. Morton can only pickup one. Ramsey has to take the responsibilty for the other.

Well, he didn't deserve it because he picked up one of the two that came.
