I'm trying to be careful of the title since nothing is confirmed. I first got word from former diva Victoria's Myspace page. I was shocked to hear the news. R.I.P. Umaga. You were one of my favorite heels.

EDIT
Here's a link with more details. Can one of the mods rename the title by deleting "apparently"?

What a shame. He was the Samoan with the tattoo on his face. I'll have to watch Monday night to see if they have a tribute to him.

That's him. He also wrestled under the name Jamal as part of 3 Minute Warning. In fact I did a little research and he's part of a pretty big wrestling family. Some of his relatives are Dewayne "The Rock" Johnson, Rocky Johnson, Rosey (his former tag team partner), Jimmy "Superfly" Snuka, The Wild Samoans, Rikishi, and even the late Yokozuna.

Very sad news...unfortunately it seems to be the road many wrestlers are on...short lives. RIP

I don't know why, but Samoa and Canada produce some of the best wrestlers over the years (when you consider their relatively small populations). I looked up the WWE bio and it said he wrestled on the infamous Battle of the Billionaires night (McMahon vs. Trump).

By the way, I thought that the movie, "The Wrestler" was outstanding...

I saw that pay-per-view. Vince and the Donald each chose a wrestler to represent them. Whoever's wrestler loss that person had to get their head shaved. Vince chose Umaga to represent him. While Trump chose Bobby Lashley. Bobby Lashley won the match so Vince ended up getting his head shaved.

You're absolutely correct about that. I forgot the exact number, but there have been a ridiculously high number of wrestlers who passed away before the age of 55. To name a few: Big Boss Man, Miss Elizabeth, Sensational Sherri, "Mr. Perfect" Curt Hennig, Andre the Giant, Road Warrior Hawk (of Legion of Doom), Chris Benoit, Junkyard Dog, etc. I could go on and on. Granted not all of them had the same cause of death, but that's still a large number of deaths.

Not sure but I think he was on a tour in Australia with Hulk Hogan recently.

One of my favorites. Micky Rourke did an outstanding job in that movie.
Sorry to hear about Umaga. RIP

I used to be a huge wrestling fan until about seven or eight years ago. All the wrestlers you mentioned I remember vividly. To name a few more:
Owen Hart- didn't see the pay-per-view when he died, but heard he died instantly
"Flying" Brian Pillman
British Bulldog Davey Boy Smith
Ravishing Rick Rude
Eddie Guerrero
Bam Bam Bigelow
Your right though. A person can go on and on with the number of wrestlers who have died at a young age. I didn't even know about Bam Bam Bigelow nor the Big Boss Man. Jeez.

Missed around half of the show tonight. Didn't hear any mention of Umaga in the part that I watched.
But very fun to watch Sheamus (the Irish Warrior Without Virtue) beat up Mark Cuban and drive him through a table. The Dallas Mavericks came out of the stands to scare off Sheamus. I think Vince struck gold with this character.

And here's vid of Mark Cuban getting the beat down- (Don't do it Sheamus!)
